Truly the best movie theatre I ever been to. If not for the mere fact that everyone is very nice, the theatre is super clean, it is beautiful and well decorated, they have a lovely coffee shop and they have 4 different and very unique screens that will give you a completely delightful experience each time but above that the mission this organization has created is amazing and much needed. I urge you to find out more about Prospector and to give it a try. After that you will find it as amazing and fun as I do.

This is the most amazing, wonderful theater I've ever been to! The staff is wonderful, the theaters are spotless, and the interior itself is a work of art. Love this place!
I absolutely love coming here. I ve taken my son and my parents multiple times. Unbelievably friendly staff, great customer service, delicious snack options including alcoholic beverages, and a very clean atmosphere. This is the movie theatre to go to!
Great movie experience! I live previously in Cherry Hill, NJ and we had the "RITZ" theater, an 8 theater with high end seats, coffee and pastries. It was eventually sold to a chain theater group and the quality suffered. Prospected theater far surpasses the Ritz in its hay day. I also like the fact that they support mentally challenged employees. I go at least 3x per month.
So happy and proud to have this great theater in our town.Too bad it doesn't have a perfect 5 star rating due to people who can't navigate the web and others who show up late to a sold out show and couldn't sit together.
Easily the best theatre in the tri state area. Great bar, coffee bar, great food and making a difference in peoples lives here in Ct. Much better to patronize this gorgeous facility than Lowes in Danbury. Once you go here you won't want to go anywhere else. State of the art sound and bisuals as well. Comfy seats too
This place is amazing. When you walk in all of the prospects are so happy. They are some of the nicest people I have ever met. The bake goods are really good. I highly recommend the shortbread. Wow. If this is not a clean theater to you then you have some high standards. This place was spot less. The popcorn was good, not to salty. Moderate prices and all money goes to the prospects mission. I would not even think twice about going back. Looking forward to making this place a usual place to go to the movies, and yes I live a hour away. Believe me this place is worth it.
Nice, clean theater with excellent service and an awesome mission. Current and classic movies, caramel corn and beer and wine. I really do not understand why you would go anywhere else for a movie.
I simply cannot say enough about this incredible place. The Prospector Theater is a 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to providing meaningful employment to adults with disabilities through the operation of this premium first-run movie theater in Ridgefield, CT. It provides meaningful employment to Prospects in a competitive and integrated work environment. My family and I are so lucky to live in the same town as the Prospector. Here are just a few things I love about it:
S - Snacks! The Prospector has the BEST popcorn I've ever tasted in my life. Not only do they serve delicious movie-theater popcorn, but they also make mouth-watering gourmet popcorn onsite! So many flavors to choose from too! Oh, did I mention candy??? So many yummy options!
P - Prospects! Every employee at the Prospector is a "Prospect" and each one is amazing in their own way. When I go see a movie, I am always greeted with warm smiles and friendly greetings. It makes me feel at home! The Prospects clearly love their job and work very hard. You will not find a better group of people in the world!
A - Artwork! Some Prospects are incredibly talented artists. You can find their artwork all over the theater. Drawings, paintings, graphic design, and more! They also have a powerful mosaic that portrays the old proverb "Teach a Man to Fish" and features Special Olympics medals donated by Prospects. What truly stand out to me however is the giant "Prospect-o-lier" that hangs from the ceiling in the lobby. Its a vibrant beacon of hope that shines like the Prospects do!
R - Rapping! Did you know that some Prospects are talented rappers?? They have a Bars & Beats group that creates rhythms, rhymes, and raps that are used in the pre-show before your movie. The concessions rap is my all-time favorite!
K - Kids! As a father of two little kids, I can tell you that your children will LOVE this theater! My boys look forward to each and every visit to the Prospector, even if we're not seeing a movie. They love the "seating steps" where they can hang out and watch what is on the giant screen in the lobby. They love the interactive games and various engagement activities that the theater offers. For any given movie you might see a colorful cut-out board, intricate balloon sculptures, or even real-life characters roaming the lobby floor! Also, you can book your child's birthday party here! There are so many options too choose from, like movie-only, movie with cake and pizza, etc. Book yours today!
L - Liquor! How awesome is it that you can enjoy an alcoholic beverage with your movie?? They serve beer, wine, and cocktails in their Heads Up Cafe. They have so many options to choose from! Alcohol not your style? Then you can get a delicious latte made to your liking. Coffee and tea drinks galore as well!
E - Education! The Prospector Theater offers an incredible program called Service Learning, which educates, entertains, and dazzles groups, schools, and businesses of all sizes. Participants build empathy and community service skills by actively engaging in custom-designed, Prospect-led programming. The theater can tailor their service learning opportunities to suit the needs of your classroom, business, or organization. Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity!
SPARKLE - Prospects are paired with jobs that highlight their strengths and passions - or as the theater call sit, sparkle." Prospects sparkle through speeches, artwork, video production, rapping, baking gourmet popcorn, making coffee, etc.
The Prospector Theater is more than just a movie theater. It's a place dedicated to a mission of providing meaningful employment with adults with disabilities through the act of a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization. It's a place where dreams and opportunities are made, and where people from around the world come together by celebrating movies and first class service, all while helping those in need. With the rise of digital media apps and online access to films, both classic and exciting new ones, the Prospector sticks to the original magic that movie theaters have offered long ago. It allows audiences to escape and watch magic unfold, at the screen and behind-the-scenes. It is the dedication to providing jobs to adults with disabilities, while maintaining an exceptional theater that is just one of the many reasons why it's become the best movie theater today. If you're looking to explore new places, please check out the Prospector and witness the sparkle and magic for yourself.
What a beautiful, clean theater with amazing people on staff! I visited for the first time this evening for a 7:15 show, and despite it being a peak time on a Friday, it didn t feel overwhelming or crowded. I do recommend getting there early to find parking and to get in your seat by showtime as the film started right on time! I ll definitely give them my business instead of the big movie theater chains from now on.
The Prospector is one of the most special theaters I have ever been to. I will only see movies there in the future, even though it's 45 minutes away from my house. You need to experience it.
I love seeing movies at a movie but at the Prospector your experience is individualized. Also it helps support adults with disabilities with having a job. Without this movie theater many of them would not have one today. I'm very thankful for this theater and can't wait for them to bring this experience to my hometown. Thank you for making my movie theater going experience amazing each and every time I see a movie here!!
Great place and mission of the organization is easy to support. My only complaint is that there are more instances of people talking during movies than I have had in any other theater.
Great theater. They have a beautiful mission to employee people with disabilities and yet it's the cleanest, vibrant and best kept theater around. Prices are good, people are great. My new theater.
Best place to see a movie with (or even without) kids. Multiple (small) theaters some with bean bag chairs in front which are great for fidgety kids. Wine and coffee bar for the adults and great prices on snacks and popcorn for the kiddos. All run by adults with special needs who make you feel so welcome from the minute you enter thru the front door to the "hosts" within each theater.
Love this place. Always a different but fantastically original time. Each theater has it's own vibe depending what room your movie plays in. The atmosphere is friendly, fun, and relaxed while providing awesome treats
This is an amazing place. If you are visiting town please stop by for a movie. It's a modern theater and is mostly manned by persons with special abilities. You will leave feeling elated. Also this place is modern with out looking overly commercial like an AMC.
It's the best place ever to see a movie. Most important is their mission to employ and help individuals with special needs. The architect who designed and built the place should have statue in the the lobby. The seats are ultra comfy and the place is spotless. The use of buildings material both hard and soft are outstanding. In addition to the concession stand is a full serve coffee shop. You have to visit to absorb the full experience.
This seems like such a neat place. Dropped my child off for a birthday party. She had a great time, and said she'd definitely be interested in going back.
Easily one of the nicest (and cleanest) movie theaters I've been to, let alone their mission is something everyone should wholeheartedly support. Check out the bar and grab a glass of wine or beer and sit back on one of the premium quality recliners they have in their theaters.
The staff are really nice, I'm so happy to be able to contribute to their sparkle by seeing movies. Everything is super clean! The popcorn is great and the theaters are comfortable.
Best movie theater in the USA. The service, food, bathrooms, all ASTRONOMICAL! I feel a sudden rush of joy when I walk in! HIGHLY recommend!!! 100/10! It s in a great location, right next to the town library. Parking lot is usually packed, so you have to get there a little earlier to find parking. But that s fine because it s totally worth it!
Best movie theater ever! Not only do you get to support an AWESOME mission, you get the best service, cleanest theaters and tastiest popcorn! The theaters also come equipped with top of the line technology to make your movie going experience as premier as possible. One visit to the Prospector will change your movie going experience forever and make you not want to go anywhere else!
I'm visiting from California and had a great experience today...all the employee were the best and felt welcomed. One young lady helped us out to our car in the rain holding an umbrella. Great place
I've been going to the Prospector ever since it opened and it's truly such a nice experience. Did I mention they have a restaurant, a bar, and you can get a cup of wine or beer to enjoy your movie???? How fancy!
This evening is the first time I visited the Prospect Theater. It's now my new favorite place to see a movie. Great friendly staff, super clean and a fantastic decor. Looking forward to seeing many movies here in the future.
I hate going to the movies, but I love going to this particular theater. It has a "family feel" to it. Cozy and beautiful. I love the staff. They have the biggest heart. They are so friendly. They always make me feel welcome. Beautiful theater. If they have the movie I want to watch, I certainly choose this theater over Loews Danbury.
This place is top notch. Gorgeous facility, really fun, terrific seats and all the amenities plus beer and wine. The fact that this is social enterprise (70 pct of the employees have a disability) makes it a win win for everyone. After this, you can never go back to a big box multiplex.
Beautifully designed first-run movie theater with a mission to provide meaningful employment for special needs adults. Super clean and well-maintained, with reasonable prices and tasty snacks. Parking can be tight, but there's plenty of space in the lot behind the shops and restaurants across the street.
This is a great little movie theater supporting a great cause. If you know anyone who hasn't gone to see a movie because they are averse to crowds, this is the place to take them. The viewing rooms have seating to accommodate wheelchairs and seating spaced further apart for people who feel uncomfortable sitting too close together. They have ample parking and their lobby is spacious. This theater hires and supports people with disabilities and the founder designed the space to accommodate them. Everybody wins.
Very impressed. I didn't even know there was a movie theater in Ridgefield until today. It's a very clean, modern looking space with a friendly vibe to it. Staff was excellent! I checked out their website later, and found that it's actually a nonprofit organization that provides employment for the disabled. Can't think of a better place to spend my money and see a movie. Parking is limited but there is a large lot just across the street with plenty of free parking. Will definitely come back and hopefully come early enough to try the cafe or restaurant.
My husband and I came here for the first time tonight and we both agreed that it was the best movie experience we have ever had! The mission of the prospect theatre to provide employment to adults with disabilities is obviously amazing and well - worth supporting in itself. But it is also just a truly warm, joyful and beautiful environment to watch movies. It doesn't have that vaguely stale/ depressing atmosphere you find in your average amc, loewes etc. It feels new, airy , clean, beautifully decorated, full of artistic and thoughtful details. The screening rooms themselves are just so luxurious -- we watched our movie from the comfort of amazing full recliners. Even the bathrooms are stunning! And the staff were warm and lovely -- it felt like stepping into a real community. All in all we could not recommend it more highly and plan to make it our regular theater from now on!
