We stayed in the Bluffs hotel but took a quick ride up to the Grande Denali Lodge just for the view and we loved it. There is also a trail that leads down to the Bluffs hotel. Highly recommended.

Horrible dirty smoke filled rooms. Old lousy broken beds, plastic cheap bathroom and tubs. Expensive and rooms have paper thin walls. Oh I almost forgot the breakfast. Buffet served rubbery dry eggs at least two or three days old. Avoid this joint like the plague. On the plus side I did see a lynx.
Beautiful scenery. Very accommodating and helpful staff. Had no issues getting our room changed from a regular room to an ADA accessible room. Great food in the restaurant and friendly staff. Loved our time here.
View is really nice from some of the locations of the hotel. But, rooms are extremely noise. Walls are paper thin, and if on the valley side, view from room is a gravel parking lot. Location, is not close to anything, but the restaurant that is part of the hotel. Did not eat there, but was told food was good but very expensive. There is a shuttle that runs to the main shopping part of town that makes its rounds about every 40+ minutes, takes about 20 - 25 minutes to get to the Denali Village. We were on a Alaskan Land-Cruise trip and even though the view was Outstanding, I would have preferred being down at the McKinney Resort, basted on location. Rooms were fine, nothing fancy, your basic standard hotel room. Internet was very slow in both upload and down load and it was up and down most of the the time. Seemed and felt like it was more down than up, but that may just be because it was down when I was trying to get this typed up, and had to restart my message a couple times.
I gave it a 3 because of location, internet service and the noise room. The view from the bar balcony is stunning.
A great hotel with good amenities and better views. Large and comfortable restaurant, with good food. The most recommended for its location in Denali point.
It was beautiful! A great view of the entire valley. The hotel was comfortable and classy. A perfect place to be a jumping off point for our trip into the park.
While it is a bit over priced for the limited amenities they offer, the view, location to the Denali boardwalk and friendly staff make up for it. Restaurant environment is awesome and menu prices are competitive. Dishwasher might need a bit more training. House-keeping or room services can be better but not worth complaining about.
Gorgeous location! At the top of a cliff overlooking the valley. Restaurant is right on the cliff, so you get dinner with a view. Dinner was pricey, but well worth it. Staff was super friendly and receptive to our jet lagged and unhappy 1 year old.
The people who take care of this property does a wonderful job. Everything is clean, people always cleaning windows, doors, floors, ladies room, always has fresh coffee for the patrons, everyone that works there is Friendly, always saying Hello and How are you today. We arrived into our room and had a lovely view of the mountains. We had 2 Queen size beds with lots of pillows, beautiful comforters and the room had a fridge, kerig single coffee maker, the bathroom was huge and had a high disabled toilet with a riser seat on it, loads of towels and plenty of small size shampoo & conditioner and hand lotions. Then a very nice man come to the door and brought us a basket full of goodies from hotel and staff, plus got a welcome card and Free tickets to have a Breakfast Buffet for free also Free tickets to get a Expresso or any other drink at their Coffee Bar. In the basket was chips, cookies, scones, popcorn, some chocolates, also 2 Water bottles with the hotel logo on it and 2 nylon bags. Everyone was so nice that we didn't want to leave, but we had to get on the train to Fairbanks. Will never forget any of the people there, the food was excellent, the breakfast buffet had everything good on it and My Birthday Trip to Denali and the people and places we saw will never be forgotten!!
Nice enough hotel if a bit over priced. This location is pricey though, so not much around. Rooms pretty standard decor, but very clean. Good curtains to block out the midnight sun! Wifi is terrible as is TV reception (constant static). Shuttle service is great and staff wonderful. Restaurant is pricey as well.
This review is for the Alpenglow Restaurant inside the Grande Denali Lodge we did not stay at the lodge.
The setting is magnificent, the views amazing and the decor very inviting. We sat at the bar and enjoy expertly made craft cocktails as we admired the views, then made our way to a window-side table in the main dining room. Service is what you'd expect at a $$$$ restaurant attentive, amenable, but not intrusive. My black cod entree was superb, as I recall. I only took a star off the review because my partner was disappointed in the salmon he ordered. Said it tasted like frozen salmon you would get in the lower 48. Trust me, we had a lot to compare it with as we had salmon almost every other meal during our 9-day Alaskan trip. Even what we ordered in Anchorage brew pubs was much better. Still, if you are up this was I encourage you to try the Alpenglow at least once.
Housekeeping decided to wake everyone up at eight am in our building this morning. Checkout is at ten. I even asked the front desk and they have no policy to explain this behavior. If you don't want us staying, we will gladly take a refund. Other than that, food was OK but overpriced compared to nearby locations. Lodging was 3 out of 10 if I had to rate it. There were holes in the walls in the bathroom. On the plus side, they did have ac units and keurig machines in the rooms.
We stopped here for lunch on our way from Fairbanks to Anchorage. We didn't spend the night, just had lunch. The food was great and priced appropriately. The view was spectacular!
First of all, you can't beat the views from this place. You can see for miles and miles. The staff were all really nice and accommodating. The rooms were nice and clean. Beds were comfortable, only complaint is the air conditioning kind of sucked so we had one night that was really hot in the room otherwise this place is great!
Rustic, rooms are roomy, bathrooms are functional, fairly new buildings, but steep gravel walk to our building - wasn't fun dragging suitcases on gravel. No elevators, have to go to another building for ice. Restaurant was great, Alaska prices are higher than lower 48. Great hamburger & fries was $17. Salad with chicken added was $14.
The Grande Denali and Alpenglow Restaurant is a great place to stay and dine in the Nenana River Valley of the National park. The staff was very accommodating and professional, with polished service. My girlfriend and I traveled up to Denali National Park, Alaska at the end of last year, and had a terrific stay with 2 wonderful meals at the Grande Denali Lodge and Alpenglow Restaurant. Breakfast was excellent, with multiple ways to either "grab and go," or sit down. Chef Ebel's dinner presentations were very put together, and the food flavor was second to none in the area. We had a bottle of California Cabernet recommended by the server and it was fantastic, and complimented the meal perfectly. I was told by management that a complete remodel of the place was going to happen for the kick off for the 2014 season up there, so I am sure it will be even better the next time around. If you want a great place to soak up a wilderness view from a hotel in the area, mixed in with professional staff, and a terrific dining experience to start and end your day with, then the Grande Denali Lodge comes highly recommended from us. We will definitely be staying here again when we make our annual return trip up to Denali in 2014.
We stayed overnight at the lodge. It was the highest located hotel in Denali which afforded us a great view! The staff were very nice and helpful. The rooms were clean and updated. It was further from the shopping area called th Gulch but they had free shuttle that runs every 30 minutes . The shuttle driver Jim from Kodiak Island was very nice and informative.
Room was clean and comfortable for a 3 star hotel. Considering you're in a national park with limited options, it's a nice place. Restaurant is pricey but it's a remote place. Not much to do at the hotel itself. Breakfast was good.
This place as most, is expensive. We had to request someone come straighten the cabin. We wanted a place for 4 people to sleep. There was a futon, extremely uncomfortable to sleep on, no new shampoos or soaps left in the room. No real place for 4 people to sit. Not happy for the price. It got cold a couple of nights, they had enough blankets, grateful for that
Delicious food and great recommendations from staff. A few of the portions we're very small but still high quality. That atmosphere and the view was lovely.
Extremely pleasant staff, beautiful location, shuttles to take you to town, nice rooms. The power went out during our stay (apparently it's not very common) and the staff was prepared with water and lights.
Overall we had a very good experience. Staff are pleasant always helpful. Room is clean with a view! We did have few problems with the shuttle pick up I guess it was miscommunication between the driver and front desk, but it did not spoil our trip. Will come back and recommend your hotels
The views are amazing! Like, wow, truly spectacular. A bit pricy though, but if you are looking for a nice place to stay, this fits the bill. It's got the views, it's got the food, and pretty good service.
This is a spectacular place with a spectacular view of Denali . I had a fabulous dinner. Presented so beautifully that I took a picture of it. Definitely not cheap eats but if you want something special then this is it. Excellent service.
The room was clean and nicely kept. The hotel staff was friendly but did not do much to point out different features regarding the shuttle service and local stops. The prices in the carry out food and drinks were absolutely outrageous but the bar and restaurant were priced accordingly to other local restaurants. We attended breakfast at their sister hotel, Denali Bluffs, and found the prices to be ridiculously high and the food similar to institutional grade. The eggs tasted as if they were a powdered variety and the potatoes dry and leftover from the days before.
Great location with an amazing view and trail. Only issue was that at one point it took the restaurant about 35 minutes to get a plain turkey sandwich out. Minor issue.
The view was beautiful, the signs on the road up made us laugh and the room was nice and clean. However the crt tv was dated and the wifi was difficult to connect to and quite slow. Then again, I do consider that the location is quite remote and that might be a reflection of the best internet speed possible out there.
The hotel is okay. Good service and nice views. But it is out of the way from the rest of the town and would have preferred something more centrally located since we didn't have a car.
I do not recommend this lodge in Denali. I would recommend someone to look for cabins to stay in while visiting Denali. The lodge had an older appeal with an old air conditioner in the room. They also have check out at 10am and will not allow their guests to check out later than that even when their prices are very high because of their busy travel season. Their lodge was the highest price I had to pay for lodging while visiting Alaska. It was supposed to have a view, but it wasn't that great (not even a balcony). I was disappointed with the amount paid when compared to the value or experience received.
I ve seen this lodge high on the hill many times driving past Denali. The views of the Nenana River valley are incomparable from the expensive hotel restaurant. My double queen bed room was nice for Alaska standards, but the breakfast buffet at $26 was average at best.
Amazing views of Denali National Park. The lodge offers great gathering rooms and a beautiful bar/restaurant to dine at. Outside the lodge is split up into different buildings and you can walk the small grounds. Only negative is the rooms are clearly older and outdated, but they are clean! Would recommend staying here if you are visiting the park.
Beautiful place, kind of a cool switchback road with funny signs along the way to get to the hotel if you like that sort of thing. Rooms were nice & the views around the grounds were awesome
Absolutely beautiful view from one side of the "lodge." Rooms are nothing special, but they are clean. Shower was luke warm and they didn't leave shampoo and conditioner for our second night. A 2.5 star hotel in any other location. Staff has been rude on three occasions in two days. They include employees working the front desk, housekeeping, and facilities/janitorial. I very rarely see this lack of care for a guest's experience (if ever) , let alone from three different staff members. Checkout is promptly at 10am, no extensions. Housekeeping even knocked on our door at 8:15 and was "checking to see if we had left." When we said we would be out by 10am, she rolled her eyes. Couldn't even get a glass of wine to take to the room at 10:00pm on a Saturday when people were still seated at the bar (Apparently they close at 10:00?). For the price, stay elsewhere. If I were to return to Denali (which is amazing and I want to drive the Denali Highway), I'd opt for another property.
The accommodations did not align with the high price paid. Missing amenities (no microwave) relatively small room with basic decor, noises coming at all times from outside from the service workers and noises inside from guests walking down the seemingly hallow floored hallway. Food was equally exorbitant: $22 per person for the breakfast buffet.
Nice views, of course, and everyone was friendly. Just don't expect a luxury experience.
A pricey but very nice place to stay. The best part was the shuttle that would take you 'down town' or to other locations to meet your tours of the main park. We paid the up-charge for the 'room with a view' and it was totally worth it. We ate that the restaurant and then at the cafe once each and it was way too expensive for what you get, but it was yummy still. Very friendly staff and a lot of cool decorations and photos to see all around. The shuttle drivers were especially friendly! Keep an eye out for wildlife!
The view and location was spectacular, very nice overlook not of Denali but of the surrounding mountain ranges and the park. Lobby was also very nice, vut
