I took my children along in the summer and we all felt very humbled yet inspired by our visit. David our guide, did a fantastic job and brought to life many key points and interesting facts. We learnt all about the brilliant work being done to help ex service personnel and we even got the chance to make a poppy and to see the wreaths created for the Royal family. Would highly recommend!
Great place to find out about the history of the Poppy appeal
A wonderful place to visit. Book their tour. Moving. Inspiring when you hear the stories of the service men and women. Take cash to buy souvenirs-pens, teapots and more.
This is where the Poppy are made, the Poppy is designed to be made one handed. The factory provides work for ex-service men also support them back to work. Public tours are available.
Very interesting to learn about the work they do here, and to have a go at making our own poppies.
Visiting The Poppy Factory is a heart warming experience. Every time I go I am warmly welcomed and everyone there has wonderful stories to tell.
Here's more info about the charity...
Since 1922, The Poppy Factory has delivered the single-minded ambition to help wounded, injured or sick ex-Servicemen and women and their dependents find paid, meaningful civilian employment.
The Poppy Factory has a real understanding of the qualities and skills of Services trained people combined with professional, commercial experience. This means the charity can carefully and successfully match former Services candidates to new civilian roles. The Poppy Factory works with companies across the UK like the AA and Lockheed Martin.
With funds raised, The Poppy Factory is able to help in all aspects of the return to work, such training making the benefits stack up for both applicants and organisations. The Poppy Factory also partners with many Services Charities by working together to find fulfilling jobs for wounded, injured or sick ex-Service people.
At this time, more people are leaving the Forces and the exit from Afghanistan is further increasing the demand for The Poppy Factory team s expertise. In addition to its recruitment and return to work support, The Poppy Factory directly employs veterans who make the poppies and wreaths for Remembrance Day. It is proud to have been a supplier to the Royal British Legion since 1922.
Always wanted to visit and my great grandad was a medic in the first world war plus another 6 were in the forces including myself
All those poppies sold every year throughout the UK, someone has to make them & from 1922 they are made here! Interesting place to visit. Staff are friendly and informative. Has a wee gift shop too
In close proximity to Richmond Bridge and Richmond Hill.
Very information and great to know the background of this place. We'll worth the donation given.
Very hard working bunch, helped me with what I needed. Top rank
Very friendly staff and employees, great welcome and video.background music just a little too loud, learnt some interesting facts.
Such an interesting visit. Would recommend to everyone, young and old.
Very interesting tour not too long. They gave us a talk first and a drink and biscuit before talk. Then into the factory to see how Poppy's are made.
Been there before, wonderful to see how there made. Just amazing to see how many get shipped all over the world.
Management were very accommodating and happy to show you around the factory
It's a good charity to help ex service personnel. Plus an interesting visit.
You get a brief/presentation on what the Poppy factory does and how it all started. Was a good experience.
Great presentation and tour of this very worthy establishment supporting ex-servicemen and women
The most amazing organisation ive ever dealt with. Offer 'real' world support into the work place but it does not stop there. They support vets in all aspect of life. This goes well above finding a job. To these guys its not just a job its a passion and you know it when you talk. Respect to all and thank you.
Really nice people, a bit tight to get a lorry in though
A brilliant find. Interesting. Factful. Volunteer tour guide was friendly, knowledgeable and facilitating. We made a poppy in the factory and met some veterans employed there. Fascinating to see the Royal Families wreaths and the different designs. Truly inspiring, humbling and educating.
I read the novel THE POPPY FACTORY and because i have seen war thought the author had been in the forces or very connected.I wear my legion poppy not because i feel sorry for myself but for anyone and everyone who feels the effects and yet still positive about life and of course to remember those who didn't make it home.I realise this review site is for the factory itself im sure they won't mind if i write this. You do great work, help people in ways most people could never imagine. The British Legion wrist band stays on my wrist because i care. The plan was to email the author of the book because of the understanding she had and thank her.Thank you all.Life does get better. The hard bit was settling back at home.As always.Thank you Legion.17.5.2019
the poppy factory is a business not a charity all the management are on mega bucks while the workers are on a pittance they outsource poppy makers for pennies royal british legion should hang their heads in shame so sad royal family heads up please you need to know whats going on
Very enjoyable visit with good food and knowledgeable guides. Reminder to all of us why we should support the poppy appeal
