Amazing pub food and hot drinks menu, safe and heated outdoor dining
A fun Irish pub with really friendly staff. We ordered off of the bar menu since it was around 3 PM when we went. There are some great appetizers that can be shared. They have an extensive beer list and alcohol selection at the bar.
Great Pub, good food, good crowd and a great barman
I thought the election of Donald Trump was a bad enough start to 2017, but then I just saw you got rid of the lamb kabob. That's why you only get a 4. #BringBackTheLambKabob
Pough & the Stars is always super-friendly and offers good food at reasonable prices. I've been impressed with their seating outside and safety measures during Covid. They mark signs on their tables after they are sanitized and keep everything clean. This is a great neighborhood place.
We loved this restaurant so much that we ate their again last night. Great service, delicious food, and very reasonable prices!
Last week was the first time we went to this place. But It is surely not the last time. We passed a splendid evening with the good service, with the first-rate dishes and booze and with the decent cost. We will absolutely visit there soon.
Best hospitality in the whole city. Also, best fish & chips on this side of the pond. Cannot wait to come back and try the shepherds pie!
Nice happy hour. Enjoyed my first Philly Cheesesteak sandwich here. There was also a group of musicians playing traditional Irish music. The atmosphere was historic with splashes of modern.
Good food. Know that the shrimp cocktail has cooked shrimp but it was still good.
fabulous ambiance and a terrific staff!!!!! a great place to spend your money, ask for courtney to be your server!!!!!!!
Good food wish the outside seating was a little bit better.
Love the ambiance and holiday decorations. A good time was had by all.
Food was very tasteful , able to park right next door, good selections of beer
Our waiter Tim was the best of the best. We got the utmost service and you can tell Tim has so much fun on the job as he s serving.
A beautiful, cozy place with people watching tables outside in Old Town. Sarah, was very attentive, making sure we knew about specials and what was good for our tastes. She answered all questions and made sure we were happy. She was definitely instrumental in the great experience we had. The food was icing on the cake. The Guinness beef was absolutely melt in your mouth good. The mushroom fricassee (sp) had all the richness of Ireland s countryside on an autumn evening. You won t be sorry you stopped here. Tell Sarah, the girls sent you.
Probably the best Irish bar / restaurant in the city
Nice place, the menu looks interesting. A duck was ok, but little overcooked. I will not come back to this place. But once it is worth to try.
A few friends and I went here on a Saturday night to the bar!!! It was an awesome time. I would definitely recommend going here for a night out. They play great music and have a top and bottom floor!
A grand feeling during Christmas season. Beautiful tree, actual fire place and soaring ceilings. Cool place.
I had breakfast here on the terrace on a Sunday morning, the staff were fairly bad, the irish breakfast was sub par.
Great and tasty food, I like the atmosphere this spot has, and the staff members were very welcoming. Will definitely visit here again.
Love this place. From partying on a busy weekend night, to Sunday brunch, to getting a pint on a random weekday, always have a great time here. A solid Irish pub, so make sure you drop by if you're in Old City, Philly.
Great service! Great food! Great drinks! Trifecta of greatness coming from this place.
Main dishes were incredible, but the sides left something to be desired.
The Plough is awesome, the food the service and the staff
A little dark (as in little light), but we had great food, fantastic service.
Just finished the best meal I have had in a long time! I love Irish comfort food especially with horribly cold weather like we have had. From the time I was seated I felt like I was at home. Rosemary our server was very knowledgeable and just a sweetheart. She recommended a dish for me and nailed it. Definitely get the Duck Confit & Lamb Chop. It was just so delicious. If you want amazing food, great atmosphere, and a great pub! This is the place to be.
The food is great, they have a fire place to sit by if you're chilled, big TVs for you guys to watch your sports, and a lot of Irish dishes that are just yummy.
Have never been there before 10pm, so can't comment on food or daytime/early evening atmosphere. At night, "the Plough" attracts primarily a 20s-30s crowd. Good DJs that play a mix of 80's through the new stuff. Not too heavy on any one genre, you won't get pounded with EDM all night here. Has been one of my go-to places in Old City for the last 8 years I've lived in the area.
Great spot to grab some food when in a hurry. Their customer service is swift, rates are reasonable, awesome mood. Will come visit again
Very well thought out menu. Went with large family and they sat us immediately. Waitress was super friendly and accommodating. Beer was good too!
Great classic Irish menu. Loved the shephards pie.
It was a beautiful day to grab lunch after the Headhouse Farmers Market. The alfresco dining is great, service is good and the menu has great options.
We shared the crab cake sandwich and weren't disappointed. There was plenty of crab and just enough breading to hold it together.
If you are checking out the historical sites and want to grab a good meal, definitely stop in.
Good atmosphere, nice night time club, not very good food.
Awesome place. Great service ask for Reds. Good food
Nice place to eat nice atmosphere nice servers great food
Everything was amazing.... great little appetizer, amazing drinks (the warm apple pie drink was sooo good!)...chill atmosphere with a fireplace. Just as i was saying how i cant wait to come back, i looked up and a cockroach was climbing up the wall next to me. Broad daylight and people around. I was horrified! Clearly they have a problem.
Great food and nice relaxed atmosphere, open til 12 - later than most places nearby.
Overpriced and gets super crowded on weekends. Decent for a mid week drink or two, but not the best atmosphere.
Never disappointed here. Food is delicious, great atmosphere. The Irish soda bread is incredible.
One of my favorite hangouts. The staff is amazing! It's a good place to relax have some drinks and people watch.
After a movie at the Ritz, we walked to The Plough and the Stars for a late, light dinner. We ordered and shared the Tapas plate and the Chicken with Irish curry. Both were very good. He ordered a hard cider on tap; I had a glass of wine. There was loud music playing. We were able to hold a conversation with some repetition. Our server, Cassie, was attentive and helpful.
Great food and atmosphere. Live Irish music inside that is spacious and well laid out. Had the seafood chowder and shepherds pie and both were delicious. Has limited outdoor seating during the summer months but the street noise is a bit too much for me. A must stop if you are in olde city.
Stopped in because bouncer/doorman was super friendly. Good drinks, pretty big place, DJ, dancing. Didnt eat anything.
Loved it! Wonderful atmosphere, food and service! 2nd time there. Looking forward to time #3, possibly this trip before heading back home to IL.
Beautiful, cozy and great food! The bonus is it's open 365 days a year!!!
This place is a fun place to party. Even for old people like me. Good music. Staff is fun. Good fun crowd.
Love this place. Great place to watch a game, grab a Guinness, or even just grab dinner. Food and service is excellent. Great for crowds of people or an intimate setting. Best Bar in the City.
The Plough and the stars was recommended to us for brunch. It was a wonderful choice. Our server was pleasant and gave us awesome table service. The steak and frites was phenomenal. Fish and chips was also good. There was live Irish music and a definite Irish feel. Great atmosphere to enjoy brunch. We will return!
Our server Emily was wonderful. She gave us the amount of time we needed to order, but was always there when we needed her. Her drink recommendations were amazing! The atmosphere was wonderful and we really enjoyed how pleasant all the staff was. We had the salmon sliders, Brussel sprouts, and fish and chips. It was some of the best food we ve ever had!!! I m a local photographer and love having a great spot to recommend to my clients. I ll certainly be spreading the word about this place!
I admire this place! They give first-cleass food, their menu is rich, The chief cook in that restaurant is a real pro, I enjoy very much trying all their dishes. The dishes are consistently fresh, the service towards the guests is helpful. I visit often this place and I was never disappointed. I recommend this place.
Very delicious food , charming place , friendly waiters
Fun atmospher, great staff and a wood burning fireplace is a bonus on a chill night.
Food great. Last day of trip & about 40 Aussies thoroughly enjoyed our night
Cold food, courses rushed on top of one another, warm white wine...and a pleasant smile. Yep, feels like Ireland. Will I go back? Nope, too many other places in the world to explore. You should consider the same.
Incredible food and drinks! Very friendly staff and great service too! Was seated outside and had an amazing evening. Will definitely go here again.
Beautiful restaurant with delicious food and lovely vegan options.
Had a post-wedding celebration here a few days ago. What a wonderful place. Great food, great service, great ambiance and I loved the ten piece live band!!
The food here is fantastic, great atmosphere, and awesome service! My favorite on their lunch menu is their cheesesteak and on their dinner menu, the Hudson Valley duck. Their menu does rotate so they don't always have the same dishes, but I've always a great meal here.
My family and I always eat here when in Philly. Great food, great atmosphere, and excellent service. I highly recommended this place.
Great Irish pub in Philadelphia with solid fish and chips bar side. Interior of the bar has an authentic feel and service was friendly. We ate around 4 so the full menu was not yet available, but was still good enough!
