Threw a half empty mixed drink at me while I was sitting at the bar. Lady was aiming for the trashcan below me . She clearly missed. I have never had a drink thrown at me by a bartender before. Will not be going back

Homophobic. I would love to say I had a great time at the phyrst, as I have had several decent experiences here. However, the last time I went will be the last time I ever attend. While sharing one beer, my girlfriend and I were approached by a bouncer who told us we were getting kicked out because we had kissed. According to this bouncer, any girls who kiss clearly are drunk and doing it for the attention of males not because they are in a relationship and love each other. If you are gay please have some self respect and do not show your face at this bar.

Live music every day of the year. When students are in town lines will get long so be prepared for pre game jeers. This place is nothing like the TV show cheers for everyone doesn't know your name unless your a regular who tips big and loses many pool games for fear of being tossed out by big bouncer hunks will make punks come back again for they always forget and claim they where dRuNk ! Don't worry fellas the ladies that work here got really nice rumps.

One of my favorite bars in State College. Great live music and I dig the dungeon bar vibe. Can't beat the Happy Hour deals + daily specials. I've seen a few complaints about bouncers/bartenders, but can honestly say they've been nothing but pleasant to me. Great addition to the bar scene in State College and everyone should go.

Is a bit of a drive, but the Phyrst is a great place to head to with some friends for drinks. They often have live bands and the occasional DJ. If you come, bring some friends and definitely give the fries a try. It's a popular 21st birthday spot, so be warned, but it's a good time

I visited from Syracuse, NY to celebrate my cousin's birthday and it instantly became obvious that we chose the right bar. From the moment we walked up to the door, we had the privilege of being greeted by the owner and his accommodating staff. We were promptly granted entry to what ended up being a very memorable night. Just wanted to extend my gratitude to all who helped provide a great time to my friends and family. Highly recommend, well done guys.

This bar has cool theme nights disappointing that they charge a cover on a regular basis not a large cover but they do charge cover to get into the bar itself they offer very good specials half-off beverages during their happy hour which is offered during the day as well as a late night after pretty sure 10 p.m. prices are reasonable overall decor is quite grungy reminded me of a frat house basement

I like the bar, but the door lady with short hair and glasses is so rude and unpleasant. I went to the smoker section out back and she yelled at me saying that only the band is aloud to use the smoking area. And then told me to leave because I called her out on her lie. She needs to be fired, she makes up her own rules as she goes. She tries to tell people that they can't go outside in the alleyway where it literally says on the door that leads to it "smoking area". I can't tell if she is on drugs or is just a groupie. But she needs to go

Very rude staff. Wasn't allowed to stand up with a mask on. Staff proceeded to touch me during this covid pandemic. I hope the CDC shuts this place down! Let others up without masks and staff were not properly wearing mask. Please boycott. They clearly don't have competent staff to be working during these times.

It may be many years since I was a student at Penn State but the Phyrst is still one of my favorite bars in State College. You'll find live music every day so you don't want to miss that. My favorite? The Michael O'Brien Band. Check them out once and you'll understand.

This dive bar like atmosphere is everything a college bar should be and with plenty of drink options beyond your traditional Irish pub standards you have some options.

The staff is not friendly. The bouncer was speaking in vulgarities to another patron, which turned me off. They were not professional. There floor is sticky, and there are things blocking the fire exits (this is a basement bar).

Waitress disappeared during trivia, saw her talking to frat guys at the bar. Then received the wrong credit cards when we wanted to leave. Then we were overcharged. Yall are better than this. Get it together.

The birthday spot, the basement concert, the stars and stripes forever. Just a couple of things that go on at the Phyrst. Enter into this Penn State Staple for pitchers, shots, live music, table games, fries, and the every night 21st birthday. Good time to be had.

First time i was here said i was to "intoxicated" because someone hit my glasses out of my hand while walking down the steps. Then as i was walking outside there was clearly worse off people than me being allowed in. I talked to the bouncer outside and i asked how i was bad and he looked at me and laughed at my face and said leave while i was waiting for friends to come out that were allowed in

Eh?
