The Phoenix Zoo is now one of the largest in the country. There is always an entire day of entertainment and things to learn. If you haven't been in a while, take the entire family. It's cheaper than going to the movies.

My twins and my family have always made The Phoenix Zoo a huge part of our life. Aside from membership and around the year visits enjoying all it has to offer it has always been a place kids of all ages can spend the day hanging out walking about. They practically grew up there so many memories even still right from their very first birthday to all the events. We have even helped with donations art auctions all! When you help the Zoo your helping your own community and family's enjoyment of this great Zoo for the future thank you Phoenix Zoo for all you d We love you and are grateful to have such a cool retreat here in Arizona!!

Pretty good, some of the animals werent in the exhibits but theres not much they can do about that (If they need medical attention then they need medical attention!) Foliage around the park was well-kept and the staff was friendly. The bathrooms could be in better condition. Some of the more fun exhibits will cost you extra, although there are member discounts available. Remember to bring your own water because its 3.50 for any beverage out of the vending machines! Yikes!

We go to the zoo regularly and definitely want to purchase a membership soon! The last time we went, we found some new areas and saw the new additions they have added! Including the sloth!
For anyone who hasn't visited in a while, they have changed the giraffe feed. It is no longer in a slot machine you can get, and instead you get to feed them yummy treats at certain times!

This is a really great zoo. I highly encourage an early morning visit in the winter/spring to see many of the animals at their most active. The zoo is laid out in such a way as to encourage regular visits, as there is always a bunch you couldn't get to last time. Make sure to convert your one day pass into an annual before you leave! It's money well spent.

What's funny is that the Phoenix Zoo is not rated ...

What's funny is that the Phoenix Zoo is not rated in the top ten or twenty of best zoos in the US. This kind of had me not too excited to attend as the Bronx Zoo or San Diego Zoo are highly rated and great zoos. Also, I drove by a couple of times and was not impressed with the entrance. With that being said ...

I love this place! We went early June and the pricing is not too bad and even better with a veteran discount. Sure, you have to pay more for the movies, tram ride and petting stingrays, but I would rather not be forced to pay for that and only pay as an option.

That aside ... the people working there are very nice and helpful. There are water stations everywhere and bathrooms are very well placed. The walking paths are either paved or sand / trail so you have the option of doing paved or both. The animals and exhibits are really nice ... some favorites were the elephant, giraffes, bear, tigers and rams.

All in all we spent 5 hours at the zoo and ended up buying a season pass; that's how much we liked it. Please give this place a try as it is also giving to a good cause.

Very nice zoo with focus on habitat vs. cage. The animals seem happy. It's a larger zoo but has a train ride tour if you don't feel like walking. Diverse food selection but a little on the pricey side.
Many opportunities to touch animals and have close encounters. Brand new tiger exhibit near the front where you can stand just in the other side of very thick glass from a beautiful tiger.
Also a trail designed for kids that is hands on.

My family and I went to celebrate my niece's birthday and we were very disappointed. When we went most of the animals were not in their habitat or the habitat was under construction. It was very sad to go and not being able to see and visit the animals. We did enjoy the reptile exhibit, giraffes and warthogs. We will probably not go back. Wish we could have seen more animals rather than the ones that have the lights in them. Very disappointed.

Drove through the zoo and it was nice considering we'd rather not get out with a bunch of people. Had trouble seeing some animals and others were just not out but that is the nature of the zoo especially drive thru style

Our family had a great time visiting the Zoo Lights exhibit. An extensive proliferation of lighting on the trees and walk ways. Many animal displays made out of lights. Every 20 minutes there is a music display in conjunction with the flashing lights. You won't be able to see any animals, they are put away for the night. This a fundraising event for the zoo so there are no discounts given.

Love this place, we have a membership and come often. There's so much to see and do. I have young kids and they love it, but I love it for myself as well. Fridays during the school year and spring break after pretty busy with field trips and day care groups, but even then it's big enough to not feel horrible crowded except around the playgrounds. The splash pads are really nice, but I wish there one for the smaller kids was fenced in, it's very open and close to the carousel so there's ample opportunity and motivation for escape.

Great place for a date day. Me and my friend wanted to try something new and decided to go to the zoo. It was fun and adventurous, there were some animals that weren't there that we wanted to look at, but oh well. Overall, great place!

The zoo is a great place easy to follow their map. So much to see and learn about. Plus the wildlife that is out and about flying or crawling around in front of you. There is certain activities that you can do with your kids for a little extra $, like the camel ride or the stingray exhibit were you can touch them. There's splash pads for the hot days were you and your children can cool down. Make sure to put on sun screen some areas do not a lot of shade. You are also allowed to take in ice chest some bring in their own adult beverages. Over all I had a great time and so did my little ones we would most definitely be coming back.

Been to the Phoenix zoo many times since early 90's, back when school field trips got you out of the classroom! Always enjoyed the visits during the cooler months. Browsing all the wildlife. Little shops for souvenirs and cafes and stands for food and beverage. Favorite visit had to be for Zoolights during Christmas season. Walk around for several hours enjoying the lighting displays in a unique environment for the holiday season.

This was a really nice looking zoo. Spacious, nice decoration, very clean and orderly. Unfortunately, it might have just been the day we visited, but there were so many animals that were off exhibit or otherwise just weren't visible. We liked what we did see, for the most part the animals seemed to have nice habitats and were well cared for, but for the price, I was disappointed that there were so many that we weren't able to see.

Went to the drive in zoo today! Kids had so much fun! We all did. Glad we were able to do something for the kids and stay safe in the comfort of our vehicles. Especially, during this time.

Came for the Christmas lights solo as I was on a business trip and the traffic going in was terrible. But... the zoo was amazing (the lights, not the animals). Put my headphones in and lapped the zoo 2x in 3 hours. A great holiday workout. Come with the kids, they would like it.

What a treasure this place is! There are plenty of attractions for people of all ages. A fun day for a family--worth the expense. They do offer a military discount, too. Some of the animals are pretty distinctive. Phoenix has done itself proud The elephants were my favorites.
