Great media library... had it in my mind to see Tiny Tim marry Miss Vicky on Carson ( mostly for the interview after) and got to see it here.
Loved the TMNT exhibit! And they legit have a library where you can watch any TV show from like the last 50 years. Plus a video game library that is super fun. Nice way to spend a few hours in Manhattan
If your a gamer and love things that have to do with technology then this place is a must go. 100% recommend
All the wonderful information about media! I just love it!
This place is awesome. You see old shoes commercials documentary comedy you name it. The 5th floor is a kid's dream. Video games and interactive ones too. I will visit again with more time to spare. You pay what you wish.
Saw a screening of BET's new upcoming show call The Quad. The place has a very polished high end look.
Interesting, and then plucked from obscurity and given a full tour, access all areas.
The Paleyland was spectacular! Our 8 year old enjoyed the video games room
This place is great for all sorts of exhibits. They even offer gaming. This month they're featuring black history month and honoring Kobe Bryant.
It s not a museum although they do have small exhibits. You can come here to watch TV shows from years back and browse their comprehensive media archive. When we visited, we saw the first few episodes of the 1977 miniseries Roots , about the African slave trade. We also looked at vintage cigarette advertisements from as far back as the 1920s.
Admission is free but donations are welcome.
The next time you remember a rare media event or piece and wonder where you can see it, you know where to go.
It was amazing, wonderful atmosphere and very friendly and helpful staff! Kids had a great and enjoyable time
Fantastic events, phenomenal guest panels and exciting premieres! (Manager Gwen rocks also!)
This place is such a treasure! I used to come here in high school and then again after college during a hot day to watch and rewatch old classics like Twin Peaks to I Dream of Jeannie and the hilarious dated commercials that would be taped during broadcast commercial breaks. It s really a treat for adults but so fun for kids as well, I still hit this up when I am in the area and have some time to kill.
Everyone from the staff to the team are all helpful and knowledgeable. Fun way to spend an entire day!
5th floor is a gaming center where you can play Switch, Xbox one, and PS4 for free and with friends.
A good place to go if you just have some time to kill and are bored. Staff were very friendly and helpful.
Stunning presentation of mini documentaries...how Ed Sullivan supported civil rights; how we depend on Bees to prolong food chains; how hurtful the R word is..with examples from down syndrome people; and many others...
Wonderful spot for exhibitions and live shows Always a good idea to check their schedule Enjoyed the Marvelous Mrs Maisel exhibit
A proud day for me, my baby and friends did such an amazing job. So proud of all of them.
If you've ever watched, or listened to a movie, TV show or radio program - you can find it here! I listened to the Adventures of the Tooth Fairy in the Midwest as a child...and it was there.
A hidden gem in midtown. Check out the digital library
Overlooked place for TV lovers. Great events daily.
want to reminice to old tv shows this is the place. they have a library where you can watch your old favorite programs. nice little gift shop too.
Bueatiful place, good staff, not crowded and fun games.
Beautiful seating arrangement, no seat is a bad seat, very intimate seating looks to hold a out 100 to 200 persons, all attended a talk with The Walking Dead cast members- beautiful theater and very polite customer service and security- become a member they provide great talks.
Great place lots of events. Went here to see the world cup in one of there theaters also took kids to play video games and vr for free
This was a really neat place. Really cool to visit and spend some time at
Nice place with great movies. But, I think that you can probably get mostly the same online.
Paley fest was a great experience here. The panels are in a very cozy room where every seat is a good seat.
Excellent venue to find almost anything that has happened in Radio/TV history. Want to see the McCarthy hearings from the 1950s? It s here. An obscure episode of a sitcom, documentary, variety show? It s here.
Great place for meeting celebrities and catching up on interview. They staff is so friendly and nice. They answer inquiries before, during and after shows. Depending on the celebrity you're trying to see it may or may not get crowded.
Would come back again for a convention. It's great for start up journalists to get interviews from some celebrities.
I visited the Paley Center specifically for the Marvelous Mrs. Maisel exhibit and I was not disappointed! The exhibit was free, and so very neat. There were multiple sets from the show which you could walk into, sit and take pictures, as well as Midge's actual outfits and other items from the show. It was like stepping right into the show! Truly wonderful.
The Shark Week experience is a simple yet delightful experience for children. The VR station was a highlight but it would have been great if there were more interactive elements throughout the exhibit.
Gave only 3 stars because of workers in the space drilling away in preparation for next week's event. The drill was extremely loud and the timing was horrible with all the young kids at the Shark Week exhibit. The failure by management to not manage that timing better was definitely a downer. We had to shorten our visit to avoid the noise.
That aside, it was worth the time and effort.
Went for a panel of investigative journalists. Excellent
Look up all the TV, radio, and news media you could ever want. One could easily spend all day here everyday just sitting and watching and listening.
Now playing the Marvelous Mrs Maisel Exhibit. It s absolutely wonderful seeing parts of the show in real life: the clothing, the diner, the telethon, the Paris apartment and even just watch the show in the large theater located downstairs. The exhibit is completely free and you can reserve tickets online. Find more information on my website or Instagram account
Very enjoyable experience being able to see programs and artists from the past
Free. Watch some old documentaries and TV shows. Super friendly staff.
Ended up donating the advised amount of 30 for a family of 4. Was not impressed with the "Shark Week" exhibit there was an Apollo documentary on one floor, random games on another and 1 movie about safe shark repellent.
Fantastic center that usually features exhibits for tv shows. We loved the special exhibit that the Paley Center had on The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel show!!
I went there for an amazing documentary and panel screening sponsored by SAG-AFTRA and the Geena Davis Institute, This Changes Everything.
This is a great venue with plenty of seating but intimate as well.
If you're a fan of television, this is the place to go.
This is a little gem hidden on 52nd Street between 5th and 6th. They have a huge video library upstairs of old TV shows and movies. They have a virtual reality area downstairs with nine different virtual reality Games. And they have other video games you can play. It's free to get in, but they do welcome donations. Donating is the right thing to do, so if you plan on going here give whatever you can. They also have paleyfest in November, where they had stars of major TV shows come Q&A with the audience, and other things. Definitely worth checking out if you have any interest in video and media.
I went here for a talk about the Opioid crisis by journalist and a DA from Staten island. It's a beautiful building, very quaint.. at least the auditorium that I was in, is.
Wish I had more time. The seats for viewing are good. The archive is growing so I think it will be better.
Wonderful time here with New York's Supporter Squad 5 Deadly Venoms watching the Overwatch League All-Stars game. There was a participant contest and a large screen tv live stream to keep all the fans engaged throughout the event.
Great time!
Huge thanks to NYXL and Paley for making this happen!
Good exhibits that differ in art styles. Overall, lot's to learn about!
Known throughout history as the Museum Of Television And Radio, this place is more of an archive than a museum. But there are plenty of museums showing old TV and radio equipment....but its not easy to find all of your old favorite cancelled television shows, classic news footage, tv movies, and other long lost television footage. In addition to the main library where you can spend hours watching the videos you select, there are several screening rooms that host special events or rare screenings. My favorite collection which sometimes screens in the screening room is the best of tv commercials. Around the beginning of the year they usually show the best Superbowl commercials.
Once in a while they even have special celebrity speakers in the main theater!
Free video games are awesome! Go to the game experience and play vr games, xbox Nintendo etc.
Beautiful space, great private theater, amazing collection of all things television.
Amazing catalogue of old film and venue for important film festivals like PLURAL+.
Wonderful to have this facility available to the public.
Visited in September for the Marvelous Mrs Maisel exhibit. Check their website for event information and definitely stop by on your next trip to NYC!
An indoor entertainment place for all ages, especially for gamers and people who likes to watch classic movies/clips
So much fun! I love their events and the vr and games exhibit was great.
I was disappointed with the viewing rooms. Some basic computers and headphones. Search feature wasn't really helpful. A coupkc of homeless people snoring at the tables. I suppose this place was a lot more impressive Pre-YouTube
Such a great venue! My second time watching a panel. First time for Drunk History; tonight for Search Party.
Beyond awesome for anyone who is remotely interested in media. Should have the same reputation and prestige as MOMA, The Met, etc. but not quite as "mainstream" in the art world.
Check out the exhibits or just stop by and browse the features in the lobby. A must for any TV fan (post NBC studio tour, of course!).
Once known as The Museum of TV and Radio, this repository of film is a Media Disneyland for adults and children alike. I am very glad this collection still exists in the age of YouTube and other Internet media platforms. Now retired, if I lived in Manhattan as I once have in a not-so-distant past, my time would be spent reviewing the classics. This may occur soon when I use my limited journalistic skill to write about my favorite TV and Film shows, beginning with "My Favorite Martian". Then the reviews need to be bound in volumes according to each genre. They will go into my private library. Maybe when I am in Heaven watching every episode of "The Lone Ranger, and boring God to tears raving about Tonto, someone may wish to publish them.
We came here because it was definitely a place for kids to enjoy. There's a large amount of computers and video games for attendees. There's also a lot of photo op opportunities. The places are very clean orderly and well staffed.
I have visited this space twice: once for a panel and once for an awards ceremony. The space is versatile and features a variety of rooms. Waitstaff and bars were a feature at the most recent event I attended in this space, and they were able to service the crowd with ease.
I also had the please of sitting in the theatre downstairs. It was spacious and clean. My only complaint was the lack of visible seat numbers, which made finding our reserved seats challenging.
Overall, I would recommend this space for events.
We come here every year for their holiday event! Why wait long lines for Santa at Macy's and other places, where this place has a really super friendly Santa and lines are not that great. Plus, we like supporting the arts! They always have a really nice holiday setup, plus they have a gaming section on the 5th floor that the kids love. Their theater in the lower floor is nice and classic, stadium seating so there isn't really a bad seat anywhere.
Fabulous exhibits. We enjoyed The Marvelous Mrs Maisel exhibit.
"The Marvelous Mrs Maisel" exhibition was delightful. Just like Midge herself.
Extremely cool experience for anyone with interest in media history. Constantly rotating exhibits and an incredible repository of archival footage of everything under the sun. On my visit, I spent time looking through the Olympics footage and coverage collection and barely scratched the surface.
Additionally, they have a VR and gaming exhibit on the 5th floor for anyone who hasn't experienced it, not fully worth it if you have extensive VR experience. For anyone wanting a better connection to history, I highly recommend a visit.
Great family fun experience for the holiday. Unique and fun
Originally the Museum of Television and Radio, this NYC landmark is a really great stop. Check thier schedule often for the opportunity to take part in intimate discussions about your favorite TV shows and movies with the actors who star in them.
Great staff and very interesting exhibits. Good choice for field trips.
