I love their selection of plays and newly refurbished seating is comfortable. Generally good views from just about every set (I haven't tested them all!)
first time there was nice. organised and clean. reasonably good acoustic for what we were listening
A fine Oxford establishment. Attracts big name comics.
Great venue for a range of events. Attended a binural experience that was engaging.
Staff incompident and not efficient. 2 old ladies who were not up to the job of checking tickets they couldn't hear people's questions which added to the delay. Then proceeded to patronise me about returning the booster at the end of the show instead of asking politely. Will not be going back
Very good show. Lovely seats & plenty of room. Clean toilets.
Nice surroundings however very warm at show. Coffee and ice cream were reasonably priced. Miserable member of public in front of us complaining about noise from popcorn which was very unreasonable otherwise lovely bones great show.
Good venue for watching an excellent performance of the Mousetrap.
Been here multiple times over the past 20 years and it still has the same charm and quality as it did when I was young
A bit delapidated tbh, grubby seats, not very clean, stage could do with a lick of paint. Over priced drinks and snacks
Beautiful theatre , great choice of productions . Seats varying prices , can still be expensive for a family .
Lovely and characterful theatre with friendly staff
Nice downstairs cafe with a generous wine selection. We saw an amateur play, and I would recommend seats on the second level. Great views at a reasonable price.
Fairly basic theatre, but with helpful staff, and nice facilities. I'll probably come here again.
Great performance of Beauty and the Beast yesterday afternoon. Adults and kids loved it! Hope to return again soon!
This theatre captioned TOAST
The LWtheatre in London did not!
Lovely theatre. Comfy chairs and friendly staff. Play about a bank robbery hilarious. Made my day.
Great Theatre and really Recommend Dinosaur World Live!
Great theatre, seats extremely comfortable, brilliant show, took park and ride for the first time and was dropped 3 min walk from theatre. All in all fantastic experience.
Lovely venue, good seats in all of the theatre and very reasonable drinks prices!
Sand in the Sandwiches by Hugh Whitemore
We went to watch the matinee of this play on Thursday 27th Oct. Edward Fox gave a brilliant one man performance, capturing John Betjeman's mannerisms so well and reciting so many of his familiar poems. However, we were very disappointed with the sound. When he was standing or facing the audience and reciting a poem directly, one could hear him but when he was just conversing, raising and lowering his voice, as one does in conversation, the sound was lost. We were sitting in the circle in the front row, which should not have been a problem but two women who were sitting next to us actually left at the interval. We felt it was a pity that not enough thought had been given to this as Edward Fox's fine performance was let down by this shortcoming.

Comfy seats, ease of access for interval refreshments
The vibrant, comfortable seating reflected the youth and energy of MCS actors and this amazing production of A Midsummer Night's Dream. This is the most engaging, amusing and polished version of the play that I have seen. The young actors cast a spell over an enraptured and captivated audience.Puck's mischief and humour enthralled us and the whole cast brought a vitality and intelligence to a play that would have delighted The Bard.
Only went to the cafe, not to the play. Nice coffee. A bit tepid.
Excellent theatre spacious comfortable seating with plenty of legroom. Friendly staff.
The Wipers Times, Ian Hislop and Nick Newman. What an excellent location to watch this very informative play. The Playhouse has long been a favorite location of mine and will continue to be so.
Small theatre so had a good view despite sitting at the back of the circle. Really friendly staff.
Saw The Tiger Who Came To Tea with the grandchildren. Great show, great venue, welcoming and helpful staff. A good place for adults and children - come and be entertained!
Good quality local theatre with excellent programme including diverse range both terms of age of audience and type of production. Excellent auditoriums including a studio theatre.
Great show, fabulous family time. All ages enjoyed their evening there. Like the colourful seats:)
Good view from where I was sitting and I loved the performance.
Lovely theatre in historic Oxford. Very friendly theatre staff.
Haven't been for a long time very impressed the show was excellent
I watched "An Inspector Calls" here and had a great time!
As I have long legs I normally have to sit at the end of aisles but here I find there is a nice bit of legroom so I can sit anywhere
Great theatre but unfortunately an awful show - Macbeth by The Windmill Theatre. I have seen many other great shows here.
Went here ages ago with my mother to watch a play.... It was amazing the kids who attended also loved it.. Had a great experience could not find a single problem with it
Good, but some very left wing content to most plays. (e. g. Jack & the Beanstalk - the giant was Donald Trump, his henchmen were Brexiteers, they quoted the Communist Manifesto and made jokes exclusively about the Tories).
Fab little theatre. Friendly staff and some great productions.
3 star rating is due to accessibility. Had circle seats but couldn't find a lift and lots of steps on the tiered seating. Also lots of empty seats so down stairs could of been offered. Not a lot in the cafe food wise but had a decent pot of tea and the man serving was very friendly and did point out accessible toilets. However the play was fantastic!
A regular theatre haunt of mine. Comfy chairs, reasonable prices. And never had a bad show yet!
We took the kids to see The Gruffalo. They absolutely loved it. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great little venue
Nice comfortable theatre except the air con wasn't adequate.
Great venue, seating is some of the best I've been in
Always love this venue. Comfy seats with enough leg room, nice bar area, good loos and friendly, helpful staff.
Nice mid-sized theatre, recently refurbished. The auditorium is a good place to be. The new seats are very comfortable with excellent legroom (I am 6'2") with good views from everywhere. However, it is almost impossible to get to the stalls bar if busy, same with the toilets in the basement. It also takes an eternity to clear the stalls at the end of the performance as there is only one open exit that mixes to the same point as the balcony.
Lovely venue. Shows can be a bit hit and miss, but otherwise an excellent Oxford institution
I have been here for cinderella and jack and the beanstalk, kids loved it both times, plenty of adult jokes that go unnoticed by the kids and loads of fun poked at Donald Trump! all round fun for the family, will definitely be going again!
Went to the panto loved it, especially the One Day More before the interval. Well done to all those involved, it was brilliant
Amazing environment, varied productions, friendly staff. Fantastic asset to Oxford city centre.
Lovely experience, fantastic show, facilities are well maintained. Parked at Westgate as it was at a reasonable price after 6pm.
Very central location, with great comfy seating here. Saw a live podcast recording here that ran for a long time but was very comfortable and happy. Always worth seeing what's on!
Saw Ardol O'Hanlon here on Saturday, what an amazing evening.
I've seen a few performances at the Playhouse. Always a great atmosphere. Customer facilities are compact but effective. Drinks ordered at the bar can be taken into the theatre in plastic cups.
More enjoyable experience than New Theatre. Cleaner, more spacious and much more reasonable ticket pricing. Excellent visibility from all seats.
A lovely theatre with a great auditorium, friendly staff and some marvellous shows. Thoroughly recommend a visit. Each year there is a wide range of shows to suit all tastes, the university student productions are usually very good.
