Tons of stuff! Super nice staff and cool idea to have the consignment shop in the basement. The only problem is that it s over priced for the quality of the stuff in the basement. But overall it s a must visit on Church Street.

Top notch outdoor store. Awesome expansion made room for even more gear. Highest quality mountain activity choices from Rab to Arc'teryx.

Check out the exchange downstairs and #GetOffYourPhoneAndDoSomething !!

One of the best places to find outdoor gear in northern VT. The staff is friendly and really know what they are talking about. You can also bring used gear and get in store credit or cash!

I m an outdoor gear junky and this place has a fantastic selection in certain arenas. Camping, clothes, backpacks, climbing, shoes, skis, used gear - hard to beat selection and price. Paddling, bikes - meh. Def worth a visit.

SHOPPERS BEWARE!!!

I attempted to shop at Outdoor Gear Exchange today but they wouldn t let me into the store! An employee was at the door screening customers. I was told I was not allowed into the store because I traveled from Worcester County in Massachusetts. Makes no sense to me. Especially since I was traveling to the UVM for work. I can work in the hospital but can t shop at Outdoor Gear Exchange? Plus Worcester County isn t even a hotspot in Massachusetts. So ridiculous!

Outdoor gear? Start here. Make sure to go downstairs to consignment first.

Sock selection is out of this world.

Climbing gear, skiing or cycling, they have it. Tenting, they have it. Not sure about bungee jumping. Good local company selling good stuff. They cater to outdoor enthusiasts, not to a yuppie delusion of outdoorsing like other shops do.

I've bought a bunch of things here and always been satisfied.

They have weekly group running and other outdoor meetup events as well.

Great selection of outdoor gear. The staff is incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. Prices are pretty steep at MSRP, although there are sometimes good sales and the basement is a consignment section. They are also dog friendly which is great.

This is your quintessential outdoor gear shop! OGE is conveniently located on Burlington's Church Street in the midst of all the other stores.

This store has anything you could need for all of the outdoor sports/activities you can enjoy in this region.

On the main floor you will find a TON of footwear, it's nice that they have a ramp to test shoes on. As someone that used to hike a ton in New York's High Peaks, the last thing you want is to find out you have a blister 3 miles into a grueling hike and your new boots are tearing up your heels.

Skiing is a popular activity up here, the store sells a decent amount of ski and snowboarding gear. I also spotted bikes canoes, kayaks and so much more.

There is often a sale tent outside the store, so that's worth looking through. I also found a section downstairs with either pre-owned or clearance goods.

I personally love Yeti tumblers for keeping water cool, this store carries a lot of that type of inventory and some items were on sale.

Even if you aren't sporty, there are still a lot of great shoes and clothing to check out here.

The store is great, but a bit on the pricey side. Still it's nice to support local businesses and that seems to be the ethos in this area.

This place is huge and has so much stuff! I was mostly interested in the consignment, and while there was a lot, it wasn't very organized or marked for sizes. The quality of the items was great.

Only ever gone for the bike shop but I love the vibe of the rest of the store. It has everything outdoor related.

The bike shop I think is one of the best in town. I demoed several of their bikes before buying a new full sus there. The mechanics know what they're doing and aren't afraid to explain how things work so you can do it yourself. All repairs and work is done incredibly fast. I even had a new set of wheels built here and I couldn't be happier with them.

Chris is my go to mechanic in this department, but everyone here I've dealt with (for the most part) is great.

Today I had a Bad experience.
I was trying snowboard boots and while I was trying the left one another person was trying the right one and unfortunately the boots fit in both, but neither wanted to left the boots.
The seller told us they will check the cameras to see who took first, also she gave me's boots to try on (only focus in my person not in the other person) after "checking" cameras she came back and said "I'm sorry we are not sure who took it first, there is not a good angle there and I think the other she was there... trying or being in favor for the other person that was I felt"
I said I was first here for awhile..
The othe person started yelling and saying my daughter was before you and the daughter also was yelling at me saying I need them, almost ate me with her eyes. I told her you can try the others boots too, and she said "the she told me this one fit perfect on me and I want this" she didn't even tried the others boots.
The seller said only "sorry is a tough situation" I decided left the boots because I didn't feel comfortable staying there. I felt frustrated and discriminated as Latina and people of color.

This place is the BEST. I got personalized help from the staff choosing a backpacking pack. The consignment selection is not only vast but good for Mother Earth. Gotta love recycled clothing. They have everything you need here and lots of good people to help you find it.

Awesome store. The Outdoor gear exchange has the best selection of outdoor gear anywhere. While most of their stuff is relatively higher end (excellent quality though) they offer a huge selection of closeouts and even some consigned gear too. The staff is very passionate and knowledgeable too. The OGE is definitely my favorite place to buy outdoor gear.

I've been probably a dozen times and I've given up on this place. On the rare occasions that I can find an employee when I have a question they have been extremely rude and condescending. I usually don't buy anything and each time I have I've ended up returning the item after finding it for much cheaper elsewhere. The store's layout is terrible and it can be difficult to find what you're looking for. They get two stars because they have a wide variety of products. Overall the worst aspect of the store is the terrible customer service and the arrogant attitude of the employees.

Always helpful staff! I am a picky shoe shopper and the staff that has helped me the numerous times I have gone in were wonderful. Also I am a huge fan of the consignment section downstairs. Great local recreational store!

Best outdoor store in the area, especially if you're into anything technical (rock/ice climbing, backcountry skiing). They have a great selection of everything I've ever shopped for there, and the staff is knowledgable, friendly and doesn't try to push sales on you.

My only gripe is the price of the clothing, but they have sales frequently enough that it's usually possible to find a good deal if you're willing to wait a bit. Plus, they have a GREAT selection of consignment gear downstairs - there are often amazing deals there.

OK products and less-than-ok prices, but definitely not worth dealing with all the spam you'll get after making a purchase from these sniveling marketers more interested in reviews than sales. Order elsewhere if you don't want B.S. with your purchase. If you do want to buy B.S. with your merchandise, Outdoor Gear Exchange is the place.

These guys have great deals on excellent gear. They are also about the fastest responders to questions and issues with product and purchases I have ever experienced.

This is by far my favorite place to checkout ski and snowboard gear.

They always have the newest equipment, but the real find is the consignment items. The basement is an experience in itself. Given enough time, you can find great gear made any time from 1980 -2014.

Always surprised by the deals on unique gear.

This is a very cool place with a lot of top brands and the full range of outdoor/athletic gear and accessories. It is not however, the place for a bargain, despite the exchange/outlet vibe. I bought something off the sales rack only to find I was charged full price, and a higher price than the same item was available anywhere else...by a lot! I was in and out of town, so was out of luck for returning. It was misleading at best. I guess the lesson learned is do your homework in every instance.

OGE is my go-to for anything second-hand, any outerwear, or off-the-shelf items. They even do great work with replacing busted zippers, or small malfunctions on tents, backpacks, etc. Having said that, their bike department is pretty weak. I rolled the dice and bought a new mtn bike there because I wanted to support them and have since been disappointed at several turns. The bike was put together haphazardly, and over the course of the first few rides I had to re-visit the store 3x, each time only fixing a small part of a mess of problems. The shock had been built incorrectly (twice), the pivots were loose, headset was loose, and when then they offered to compensate me for my trouble, they set my tires up tubeless... and in do so destroyed the valve core so the tire never held air. I'm out on the service dept. at GearX. I'll bring my broken zippers, but never again with bikes.
Three stars is a bit harsh, but the bike costs a lot more than any tent or sleeping bag I've purchased here so I don't think it's unwarranted.

An exceptional outdoor store with an equally exceptional selection! There s something for every form of outdoor activity here and all at fairly good price points (plus they will often price match items as well)! The staff is also very helpful and knowledgeable making the experience great for people trying to find gear for new activities.

One of the best customer experiences I've ever had! This vendor was courteous, prompt and very professional on every level, from shipping to follow-up! A++++++++!!! I ordered a new Kelty tent from them off of Amazon. On my first camping trip a seam tore on the rain fly, it was totally manufacturer related. Anyway, as soon as I contacted GearX about it they immediately followed up with a email response expressing a caring customer first professional attitude. They promptly sent me a paid shipping label and refunded my purchase. I'm from now on considering myself a GearX patron, because I plan to shop there in the future no question about it!

Easy!

Staff is awesome and they seem to have everything you could ever want. I went in looking for a very specific travel bag and sure enough they had it. The customers are also gear smart because I was walking around with the bag contemplating whether to spring for it and a guy who was shopping saw the bag and convinced me it was worth the money.

Prices are very competitive and I actually saved money over Amazon on my last purchase. Plus, local business that does good things for the community. Just go there, spend some money, look smart, support the local economy.

Incredibly helpful staff! I have not had such a proactive, knowledgeable, and positive customer service experience like that in many years. Multiple people came up to me multiple times to ask if they could help me find what I was looking for or make a decision. Each one of them had a significant depth of knowledge about the merchandise.

The store has lots of supplies across a wide selection of brands. Prices seem very reasonable. Great location too!

I bought "new" Metolius offset TCU from them and was surprised it was actually 4 years old (manufacturers print production date on the slings, now). It should be sold as an unused item but not as the new one. Nylon slings deteriorate with time, used or unused. Metolius recommends to change the sling after 5 years, so I got one year to go on "new" piece of gear before I should change the sling (personally, I think up to 10 years is o.k.). Customer service guy was nice but did not seem to grasp it is an issue and gave me usual corporate bs. Just because the item was on sale, it does not mean it should be sold as the new one (while it is not). Other online outlets sell the similar gear with the same discounts and it is not that old (may be stuff from last year at the most). Next time, I will buy from more reputable sellers....

When they buy consignment, they give store credit unless you re willing to take a lower percentage for cash. The employee who processed it was rather annoyed by what I brought. Next time I d rather to give it away to someone who wants it for free than selling it to Outdoor Gear Exchange.

The best outdoor store I've ever been to. I grew up in VT and had the luxury of the bargain basement, good prices, and really knowledgeable staff. Everyone who works there knows their stuff and has probably used the gear they are selling. I now live in Montana and wish there was somewhere like this around me. I especially miss all the great used deals in the basement. ALSO- I ordered hiking boots from them this month and they sent me socks with them! :)

Chad in climbing was friendly and so helpful! He gave recommendations and was so patient with me, as I know absolutely nothing about climbing. The crew in footwear was awesome as well!
Can't get over the huge variety of stuff this store has. Everyone in the building is approachable and more than happy to help.
Beyond satisfied with my experience in the store, will be going back for sure!

Not for older bikes

Not for older bikes

While the retail store is fantastic their bike shop is mainly for new road and mountain bikes. I have an old bike with old school shifters (photo, not mine but same model) and the minute I left the store following my tune up the shifter ripped the wire out. Went back, they fixed it for no charge. But then less than a week later same issue. I fixed it with a friend at that point. Also they forgot to put caps on my new tires I bought from them.

If you have a modern bike I bet you ll have better luck but older bikes should probably stick to old spokes home

This place reminds me of home! I'm originally from Seattle. I could have spent all day in here. They have an amazing selection and their consignment section is huge! Really good deals too. I wish I lived closer to shop here more often!

I have a love/hate relationship with OGE. I love it because they have an incredibly large selection of high quality gear and I hate it for the same reason. Its hard for me to walk out of there without spending a bunch of money because everywhere I turn I find something I like. Their shoe and boot selection is great as well.
