I started the nutrition programme in November 2019 and I can honestly say it s the best move I made to get me on the path to recovery. Prior to this I felt I just wasn t making much progress with no significant improvement.
From the very start it was very much individualized and the dietary changes and various supplements have made a massive difference to the way I feel. My nutritionist was very empathetic having gone through chronic illness herself and knowledgable from the many ME patients she has treated. She worked within my budget and was flexible and understanding.
I have also completed the psychology programme which helped me with pacing and tackling unhelpful thought patterns. The tools I learnt from this still help me now and will continue to do so in the future.
The advice I would give is give it a go. I was unsure at the beginning mainly due to cost but I invested in my health and it has paid off.

The Optimum Health Clinic have been on my radar for years and it was purely the cost aspect that meant I wasn't able to access their services. After years of my own personal research I felt I got to a stage in my recovery myself where I now needed help with digging a bit deeper, getting some tests done to get to the root causes and having the expert knowledge around supplements.
I took the plunge and so far I've been really pleased with the results. I am seeing one of their brilliant nutritionists and all the interventions we are trying are having positive effects so far. It is such a relief to be able to put my trust in someone and not have to expend my precious mental energy with researching myself. Such a weight off my mind. Sure, you have to be committed to your recovery and put in the hard work of implementing any dietary and lifestyle changes, this does take some planning but once you get into a routine with it, it becomes second nature.
I'm excited to see how my journey continues and with the help of the OHC I hope I can come along even further in my recovery.
AWFUL! Please avoid and save your time and money. They are absolutely useless. You can get better help from free YT videos. I would rate 0 stars if I could. It's not personalised or individual at all and is very generic. After specifically saying they could help me and saying what stage I was in, when it became clear they couldn't help, they tried to blame me for signing up. I had to contact the financial ombudsman to obtain my refund.
I've been living with ME/CFS for 20 years now and the Optimum Health Clinic has been single most helpful thing I've experienced for it. I was initially very skeptical years ago when I first discovered them as I'd always had the message ME was just something you had to live with and at that point, I felt it was as good as it was going to get. However last year, after my symptoms getting much worse, I finally gave it a go and couldn't be more thankful that I did!
I had the invidiual psychology program which taught me a set of strategies that helped my body be in a calmer healing state and helped me to learn how to better respond to my body. I'd always thought of myself as a calm, happy person but it really made me aware of just how much stress my body was under just existing with ME. You can learn about these strategies online for sure but for me, having the support of the practitioner has made all the difference. The support has meant I've been able to implement these strategies into my life and apply them to my specific set of challenges which I really don't think would have been possible without that support.
The nutrion side focuses on aiding your recovery and focuses on you as a whole person, thinking about how all bodily the systems work together. I've had various periods of input from the NHS over the past 20 years but having such personalised care has made a huge difference. Considering I was completely bed ridden when I engaged with the clinic, the difference in me now is phenomenal! My symptoms have reduced so much to the point I would have never thought possible and I'm getting periods of real energy instead of existing in a state of burn out. I'm now excited to see how life goes and not feel like I have to drag myself through it any longer.
I've found all the staff members and practioners to be very professional whilst also being supportive and compassionate. It's all evidence based practice which has really helped me trust in their advice. It's been instrumental in my recovery from ME so for me, has been very much worth it and I can't thank them enough!
After many desperate years of struggling with diagnosed Chronic Fatigue Syndrome I went to the Optimum Health Clinic where I found professional and scientific based evidence, support, compassion and advice. Thank you OHC.
The OHC saved my health (mentally and physically) and I ll be forever grateful to them - especially Sara and Marie.
I was 24 (2017) when I became seriously unwell. I had multiple appointments with different GP s and even a neurologist who all said nothing was wrong with me - I literally felt like I was going crazy. Finally after about 8 months of pain (which I now realise was fibromyalgia) and fatigue (and many other symptoms like head-dog) I randomly all of a sudden felt like myself again and thought it was just a random blip in my life - wrong. 2-3 months later I had a severe crash and after seeing a holistic GP and acupuncturist I finally found that I had CFS. That s when I found the OHC. Without them I wouldn t have known what to do or how to make it better as sadly the NHS still do not recognise CFS/ME as a real illness. Marie got me in the right head space to start to be able to heal (on the psychology team) and then a couple of months later I started working with Sara in the nutrition team to really start to change my lifestyle whilst still putting into practise the headspace techniques I had learnt. It was a long journey but after about a year I really started to improve and the crashes finally became less and less with longer gaps in-between until finally 3 years later I no longer have crashes and for the most part have healed from having chronic fatigue and it s array of symptoms. I still have some weaknesses but nothing that I can t manage and if I keep working at it then maybe one day they will lesson even more too. I am forever grateful and I hope if anyone young who has CFS comes across my message and reads it, I want to let you know there is hope!!! When I found out I had CFS I didn t see many reviews/testimonials from young people, but there are young people who sadly do get this illness and I want you to know that you CAN recover from it, it s just a journey that you have to work at.
I've had CFS for over 26 years now, have tried all manner of solutions and was coping with d-ribose taken for crashes. This place has tackled the heart of the problem and my memory, concentration levels and physical energy levels are the highest they've been since I was diagnosed. Don't hesitate, these people actually know what they're doing. Follow their advice and the results will come.
I visited the OHC in 2018 for the 90 day programme which was no less than completely life changing - it gave me hope, support and the tools to figure out what was going on and make sustainable changes to my perspective and my physical health. Since then I've remained a patient of the Nutrition team where I've been thoroughly tested and supported in a way that's individual to my needs. The OHC have supported me from housebound to today where I can begin to live a "normal" life that's nothing like the one I lived before - not only am I physically healthy but I've had the opportunity to start a new career that I'm aligned with, improve my relationships and life situations. The team at the OHC are incredibly inspirational and model their own methodology. I always thought that when I got here I'd fear losing my health again but now I don't see any way back! Forever grateful
Had high hopes for the this place but sad to say it didn't deliver in the end. Since signing up I've gone from 40% severity (working part time, travelling, riding a motorcycle) to 80% and bed-bound 23 hours a day. Much of the psychology section is about calming the nervous system and various ways to do this. There are plenty of free resources on things like meditation / breathing exercises / EFT etc. online which will help with this. While I do believe removing stress from your life is beneficial for healing from chronic illness, there's really no need to spend 100's of pounds learning to do this when much of the info is out there for free. They also give no practical help if you're stuck in a prolonged crash or severe state other than to wait it out, which is shocking. All the advice is given for when you're in a more functional state.
As for the diet side of things, this just functional medicine which is total pseudoscience. Much of this will revolve around getting you to pay for spurious tests for completely debunked woowoo illnesses like adrenal fatigue, then convincing you you need to buy very expensive supplements to cure them. You're encouraged to buy them from a 'special' overpriced website and enter the OHC details which makes me think they are probably on commission for prescribing them. They completely missed my orthostatic intolerance which is one of the most common co-morbidities of ME/CFS, but wanted me to be spending hundreds on tests and supplements for illnesses which don't exist according to science.
Writing this so other people have this knowledge before they spend what little money they have left on this. Wish I'd known, I'd not have bothered.
The Optimum Health Clinic has been a complete game changer for me, and I shall be forever grateful for their help in aiding my recovery.
I urge anyone struggling with ME/Fibromyalgia/Post Viral Fatigue to get in contact with them. You have nothing to loose, everything to gain and you absolutely CAN RECOVER!
