This pub doesn't know how good it is. That's the charm. It looks like any other pub really, it has open fires, nice chairs and tables and is very large inside. However, when you speak to the staff you're greeted with a very warm welcome. You might notice the quality of the alcohol on offer as well. Food is good too, if I'm visiting Padstow I'd definitely come back here to warm myself by the fire with a nice drink and nibbles!
Only drank here a couple of nights so can't comment on the food but the pub is very nice, the bar staff are very friendly and they allowed us to sit on the benches out front so we could relax with the view of the harbour. Rating 4 stars as drinks were fairly expensive.
A good selection of beers and a varied menu. Very popular overlooking the harbour
Excellent pub to escape cold December day, warm & welcoming bar staff nice homemade lunch
The food was delicious, I had the lobster burger, the beer was also great. The service was good except they took over ten minutes to clear our table despite our plates bring stacked ready for collection. In the end we left rather than buying another round of drinks as the table still wasn't cleared.
Nice pub very busy , dog friendly . A nice pint, nice decor , good selection of drinks and staff were friendly and helpful .
Friendly staff who where quick to serve in a busy bar. However not enough chairs for the amount of tables!
As always a superb Hall and Woodhouse pub. Great service and good.
Stopped here for a light lunch and really enjoyed the food. Pleasant atmosphere and great service. Will definitely come here again.
My absolute favourite bar/restaurant in padstow. Good food, friendly staff & has a lovely feeling to it.
I visited padstow 17th june 2028 4 a wk on the tues it was really hot so popped in 4 a drink and asked if I could have it at harbour it wasn't a prob the barman was very nice indeed and nothing was a prob
In this large pub the rooms are small and cozy with a splendid view of the bay.
I have wanted to stay at this hotel since I first visited Padstow 5 years ago. We arrived yesterday. Staying in room 8. I asked for a room with a view and that is exactly what we have. Beautiful. I love it. Cannot fault it or the rest of the Hotel. Yes you have to pay for parking but so What. Padstow isn't built for cars. The hotel more than makes up for that
Fantastic room, amazing view, rooms cleaned daily, Good selection of Beer and cider, food very good. Will definitely return!
Nice pub right on the harbour. Part of the St. Austel brewery chain with good selection of local and international beers as well as the usual wines and spirits. Does food, with pretty much something for everybody. Fairly large place, but would imagine it gets quite busy at peak times.
Nice food. Service not so great one meal came much later than other 3 meals. Table not cleared very promptly.
Not a cosy 'pub' - but very convenient & comfortable for a coffee or quick refresher when in Padstow. Also one of the few places which has an area where families can be more relaxed with children.
Always a warm welcome at Padstows busiest pub.
A good selection of quality food and drinks.
Tell Matt, the manager I sent you!
Excellent menu and customer service. Good choice of drinks.
Great pub, gets v busy at peak times. Staff a bit sour faced though
Popped in for a drink with our dog. Dog friendly in the bar area. Decided to stay and have some food. Very good and reasonably priced. Will return! Further to previous, we did return for more food. Was fantastic. Had the sticky toffee pudding for desert, prob the best I've ever had! Recommend a visit if in Padstow. Easy 5 out of 5.
Not stayed hear yet but had food and drinks very friendly staff will definitely book next time we come to Padstow
Visited for a drink. Under Covid rules you have to download the St Austell Brewery app and order online. This took 15min due to slow 4G performance. No wifi was offered. 2nd drink was ordered more quickly.
Really friendly staff, good food and beer, allows dogs and it is just over the road from the harbour. Fantastic place
Lovely venue and ambient. Beer is pricey but it's where you are
We had a great time with our loved ones. The weather was not that great.
Covid concerns well managed with the use of an app allowing for ordering of both food and drinks direct from the table.
Allowing for a comfortable experience, plus the food was excellent!!
Good selection of beers, friendly atmosphere and friendly staff. Good access to wifi and lots of space to sit with some areas with a good view of the harbour.
Stayed at he Old Custom House Monday through Friday just gone and was very pleased with most of what I encountered there. The staff were lovely, the room was tastefully decorated and had some nice features but the really uncomfortable bed and pillow made it difficult to get a good nights sleep. More my issue than theirs but I ve deducted half a star because of this. I like that they provided shower gel (Elemis no less!) but we had to request the refillable bottle was actually refilled. They lost another half star because breakfast was only served until 9:30am. I m on holiday, I don t want to get up super early every day to have breakfast, especially if I ve not slept well thanks to a hard pillow and too soft bed. Ventured down for breakfast twice all week. First time I went down the other half stayed in bed so I had the veggie cooked breakfast and veganised it by having the eggs taken off. It was very nice and cooked fresh to order. The second breakfast was ok, just had some cereal with some soya milk (which you ll have to request if you re vegan) and some juice and coffee. I ll probably try somewhere else if I go to Padstow again but this is not due to any fault of theirs.
Excellent food and service. Location is stunning in Padstow harbour. We had a great evening.
Had Tea and Cakes here in April. Nice Staff efficient. Cakes were of a good size and drinks well made. sat in the Conservatory on the side, nice.
Nice pub, right on Padstow harbour. Plenty of room and family friendly.
Even though it was very busy when my family and I went there was very good service and decent prices for the area. I didn't use the toilets myself but my sister said the one they went in to was fine. Disabled toilets are there too and in general it's very accessible.
Typical OK pub food, nice atmosphere and helpful staff
Service was a little slow, we went in in the early evening so hopefully it picks up as it gets busier
Good food good value staff seemed a little uninterested but polite when they spoke, would definitely go again.
Our server James was absolutely flawless. Brilliant service made us very welcome
Have been for the last three years, always great food and service. Had a meal in the restaurant side, and it did not disappoint.
Great hotel with restaurant and good Cornish ale. A must for any visitor to this beautiful harbour town.
Lovely pub great decor friendly staff. On the night we were in the atmosphere was loud and lively. Menu was good (No vegan options from what I remember) and the food was hot and tasty. Cocktails were good but overpriced. Overall I would recommend.
Sat down table was dirty asked for steak come over cooked to how I wanted it wifes chicken was below par asda hunters chicken actually tastes better than this one did real shame as it looked like a nice place friendly staff tho cant fault the staff at front of house just a real shame the food really let them down.
Had a few drinks at The Old Custom House with family. I was very pleased with the experience.
+ Good selection of local beers (mostly from St. Austell Brewery)
+ Great location at the front of the harbour
+ Dog-friendly
+ Clean and nicely decorated
Unfortunately we didn't stay for food or accommodation, but I'd definitely recommend The Old Custom House for drinks.
Expensive for very average and sometimes disappointing food. But the regular staff are nice!
Nice pub that accept dogs and have a fire on cold days.
Perfect location, very friendly staff. But can be noisy as windows open on very busy area of town. Lovely view.
Nice pub and good food. Try the Cornish stout, Mena Dhu, wonderful.
Had a couple of drinks there. Nice bar with a good atmosphere.
Stopped in for drinks, its a bit chain-pubby but you can sit on the quayside and chill so can't be bad
Warm and inviting venue with friendly staff nice place to visit for a drink
Brilliant food, lovely atmosphere! Jodie was especially nice and very well mannered :)
Lovely warm pub, dog friendly, nice food, lovely cakes, nice range of beers and coffees.
Very happy with current service, great cider. But if you have any younger members on you crew don't forget your ID.
Lovely food right on top of harbour, highlights were Morrocan Lamb, Potted Crab, and washed down with Tarquins, rhubarb and Raspberry gin
Local located near the port .... Normal food, compared to the standard ....
Very nice pub atmosphere, good food and dog friendly.
Had a great sea food platter for lunch here over the bank holiday weekend. Was surprised at how good it was! Well worth a visit.
Service ok but staff abrupt and rude food look nice and smells good too
Very good food. One minor problem with description of one meal was properly addressed by the manager so everyone was happy.
