Excellent service from start to finish. Great communication, staff waiting at the airport, clear briefing and the whole experience was seamless. Extremely professional. There are no adjectives that can truly describe the views high up in the Himalayas. I am grateful for The Mountain Company giving me the opportunity to see and live it all.

I ve participated on 2 treks with The Mountain Company. Kanchenjunga Circuit in 2018, and Manaslu Circuit in 2019. Both treks were memorable experiences. This was in large part due to the professionalism, organisational skills and expertise of Roland, his staff, and the guides and porters. Nothing was too much trouble right from the outset. We enjoyed great food, and there is a particular emphasis on safety, not only for the trekkers, but also for the Nepalese crew.

I would highly recommend The Mountain Company for first time trekkers, and also to those looking for a more challenging trek. You will not be disappointed.

I've done two treks with TMC, Dhaulagiri Circuit in Nepal and the Snow Lake trek in Pakistan. TMC is surely an excellent choice for such challenging treks. Their treks are very well prepared and the Western trek leaders are experienced, able to deal with any kind of unforseen situation that may happen, with the comfort and safety of trek members as a priority. Local crews are excellent and devoted to their job. They are also taken care of very well. I highly recommend TMC for a Himalayan trek.

Excellent, would choose again without hesitation!

Excellent, would choose again without hesitation!

I have done two trips with The Mountain Company - Dhaulagiri circuit/Dhampus Peak and Saribung expedition. Both were very well organized and the guides and support staff did a superb job. Even before I set foot in Nepal Roland was very prompt in responding to queries and concerns and also advised and prepared reasonably priced extensions of treks that I was planning to do. I look forward to trekking/mountaineering with them in the future.

My wife and I completed the Mardi Himal Ridge trek...

My wife and I completed the Mardi Himal Ridge trek at the start of March 2020 combined with a tour of southern Nepal (just before lockdown!). The Mountain Company s approach and support throughout were superb.
In our initial approach and planning the trek and wider trip no question from some rather cautious first time trekkers was too trivial for Roland. The organisation and logistics during the trip were all good and our porter and guide faultless, it would be hard to see how they could have been more attentive! Our guide (Hebi) was even keen to support our green credentials and lead several litter-picking interludes on the trek!
Finally, as the impact of Covid and the looming global lockdown started to hit home Roland and the team were instrumental in getting us back to Kathmandu swiftly (revised internal flights booked and e-tickets sent to us after a swift exchange of emails, at a point where we lacked meaningful internet to book flights for ourselves! Also worth adding that the tickets were sent with no payment made by us, just a request that we settle once back in Kathmandu).
This swift solution in turn allowed us to arrange revised international flight tickets with minimal difficulty to travel home to the UK, something which became progressively harder over the next 24/48hours.

On balance we would not hesitate to book through The Mountain Company again.

I had a wonderful time trekking in Nepal with The Mountain Company. We trekked to Everest Base Camp in a group of six with brilliant support from 3 guides and 3 porters. The quality of the support team was exceptional. Special thanks to Hebi for his excellent leadership of the group, his environmental awareness, for taking the time to explain the various religions and cultures and for being great fun. Before arriving in Nepal I had great communication from Roland who took the time to explain what the experience would be like. I had access to a website with really useful information to help me prepare. The mountains in Nepal are beautiful, I feel so lucky to have seen them first hand. The Mountain Company were recommended to me by a friend and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone interested in an adventure in Nepal.

My husband went on the lamjung Himal camping trek in October 2019 and it was a great experience. Roland was very responsive prior to the trek and all the staff in Nepal took extremely good care of us. We always felt in good hands.

I have been on two extensive treks in Nepal with The Mountain Company - Manaslu Circuit in 2017 and Kanchenjunga Circuit in 2019. I found both treks superbly organized and well staffed with knowledgable experienced guides and porters. The whole process from trip selection to gear review and proper setting of expectations was excellent. I would not hesitate to recommend The Mountain Company for any trekkers with an interest in a trip of a lifetime in Nepal. In fact I would not use anyone else myself. I am certainly planning on returning to Nepal when the pandemic craziness abates.

I did the Everest Base camp Luxury version in October 2017. Everything was great from the initial chat on the phone with Roland (always great to talk to someone who knows his treks inside out rather than someone reading From a script ) to the welcome in Kathmandu and obviously throughout the trek. Clearly the local staff was hand picked and showed great professionalism and incredible kindness. This was an incredible trip that I will never forget. I just hope I can find time in the future to do another trip with the Mountain company

I have been on seven Himalayan treks in Nepal and Bhutan with The Mountain Company since 2009 and am planning at least two more. These mountain adventures have left indelible and beautiful memories on my mind. The company, led by Roland Hunter, is outstanding. The treks are thoroughly researched and recce'd. The trekking leaders are hand-picked and trained to the highest standard and unlike many companies the Mountain Company continues to employ highly qualified international leaders on the more challenging routes. You will see the same excellent leaders working for the Mountain Company year after year because of their high regard for and loyalty to this excellent company. Roland Hunter is a superb logistician and communicator, is unfailing in promptly replying to enquiries or concerns and will run through any proposed trek in detail with you to ensure that the trek is a realistic, safe and enjoyable experience for you. The company maintains the highest level of safety and it is always reassuring to know that the leaders are in frequent contact with head office via satellite phone whilst on trek. Each year the company comes up with new trekking routes to explore more remote areas of the mountains which means that I am open to new temptations every season. The Mountain Company has a family feel to it so that every time I land in Kathmandu it is like coming home. I can unreservedly give this company the highest recommendation.

We have now been on two treks (one short, one much longer) in Nepal with The Mountain Company and hope to go on at least one more, whenever people start travelling again. Roland was extraordinarily helpful in answering questions before we first went to Nepal. By chance, he was in the same area when we arrived and was able to give us even more guidance. The entire operation was extremely well organized and professional. We never had any of the concerns about equipment or supplies that we saw with some of the other companies -- Western or local -- that we passed on our way. The longer of our treks was led by a Western guide, which made us even more confident that we would have the support we needed. The local guides and support personnel were also uniformly excellent. I would hesitate to use any other company on a Himalayan trek.

One item that doesn't seem to appear on the website but that may be worth mentioning for those of us who are over 65: Roland is now requiring a doctor's letter attesting that we are in condition for the trek (at least on the strenuous treks). Getting the letter may be a little bit of hassle and may require some lead time, so you should factor that in.

The Mountain Company enabled me to complete the kind of Himalayan trek that I had dreamt of but never thought I would be able to do. Everything as I had hoped: remote mountains, camping in the wild, beautiful scenery, nature and wildlife. Challenging walking and camping but the superb support of fun, friendly and ever helpful staff made the whole experience a pleasure and a treat. Excellent organisation and support. I cannot recommend this company too highly.

I have trekked in the Himalayas with 4 different trekking companies and most of the time all has gone well. The differences with the Mountain Company are threefold:
Firstly when booking. You get to discuss your plans with the owner of the company, Roland Hunter, who knows every detail of the trip.
Secondly in the planning. Itineraries are really well organised so that you get the most out of the trek. Other companies are prepared to cut a day or two from the itinerary in order to fit the trek into a 2 or 3 week programme. For me, an extra day at or around the high camp is invaluable.
Thirdly on the ground. The owner of the company is personally in Kathmandu for much of the season and if there is a problem it will be sorted properly.
