The Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa Review

Poor lunch at SCHOONERS. Had to wait 45 min. for Medium burgers that ware well done. Got replacement but they were the same Well Done. They didn't charge for it. Other dishes and service were good.

Was it super busy wonderful enjoyed it very very much and had a wonderful dinner tonight across the street with the coupon they gave us from now I recommended five stars

Top notch - I held a large team offsite here and we were all treated like individuals and given premium service. IMO, this is the best hotel on Cannery Row.

Great views from this hotel. The staff is all very friendly and accomodating, and if you're interested in doing the touristy stuff on Cannery Row, the location can't be beat. Luxurious.

We loved our room and the restaurant! Very clean and perfectly situated to walk around the town.

Loved the location, the service, the ocean views, the comfortable room, the robes, Tidal, etc. Even though the wharf is within walking distance, we took their free shuttle due to the rain. Perfect. We loved everything about our visit and would definitely recommend.

The plaza hotel has a really great location with a bunch of good places to eat within walking distance. I really appreciated the wine tasting room, and was able to catch the end of the warriors game on their TV. Go Warriors.

I liked this hotel, it was clean, in the heart of everything on cannery row , right on the water and the staff was very friendly. Parking is valet, those guys are super. I recommend this hotel 100% if you had any doubts

Outstanding views, beautiful rooms, super strong ceiling fan... Ha! I mean as a person who sleeps with a fan this was a very welcome creature comfort.

Started with friendly service right away and the room was beyond my expectations. Came for my anniversary and it was the perfect place to spend a romantic stay-cation. Comfortable beds and very clean rooms. The ocean view is a must. Slept with the windows open all night and there's nothing like waking up to the sound of the ocean.

The staff was great and courteous. It's in a great location, right on the water, and they let us keep our car with them after checkout to avoid the parking headache near the aquarium. Great, clean rooms. We got a good deal through Hotwire.

We didn't stay there but we talked to the staff everybody was friendly knowledgeable. We're looking forward to when we do stay there.

Beautiful hotel, excellent service and relaxing views of the ocean. It can't get any better

The staff are extremely helpful and polite, a pleasure to speak with. The furnishings were lovely and the balcony and ocean view were absolutely amazing. Being able to sit and listen to the water can't be beat.

Location, location, location. The view is incredible. The staff took such good care of us. Close to enough to the Monterey wharf we could easily walk. We had a great room looking out to the Harbor. We hated to leave.

I have been there for dinner. It's a one choice to have romantic dinner and enjoy with surrounding.

The hotel is beautiful. The views are amazing we paid a lot for the room for the view. But the toilet didn't flush the fan in the bathroom didn't work and the sliding screen doors to the balcony did not want to open they almost broke off. I expected better from this hotel.

Service was great and the atmosphere was even better!

Update: Make sure to bring your own razors, and toothbrushes and toothpaste. They don t provide it unless you specifically ask for it.

A very beautiful and quaint hotel with stunning views and near the downtown area of Monterey. They have a very good quality restaurant with gorgeous views, great staff, and a few hot tubs. They also have a gym and spa on site, but the spa is closed due to covid.

Nice place, nice location. Seagulls noisy. Layout of our "family room" was odd. King bedroom has NO facilities: no mirror, no sink, no commode. Twin room has only one tiny drawer. Access to bathroom only through twin room.

Location is great and a short walk to Cannery Row! The room was very nice but not in the best part of the hotel as it was located right near the service door so you could hear all the workers coming and going early hours of the morning but all in all it was a good stay.

New favorite spot... centrally located. Walked to fisherman's wharf first afternoon then came back and took a break. Walked to cannery row for dinner and had a great time. We had a room with ocean view over looking fountain and Court yard . They call it partial view but it was perfect. Opened the doors and had breakfast and lunch on the balcony. Food was great, service was fantastic. Checked out at 12. Left luggage with bell hop. Rented electric assist bikes across the street and went on a 20 mile round trip bike ride...we had a great time !!!

Stopped by to visit relatives staying here. It was a very nice hotel with some great views over the bay. Valet service available for a charge. The conscierge can place reservations at local restaurants for you, which is nice.

place was great, I made a mistake an ordered for the wrong day, even though I bought it 3rd party an was non refundable they made it right at no additional cost. staff is definitely one of the best

Great place. Customer service is inconsistent. Safety might be an issue too. Leave valuables at home.

Location is good and premises very clean and classy. However there is inconsistent guest care. Treated very well by valet. And very poorly at check-in by reception lady. She didn't smile, was condescending with her remarks and made us feel unwelcomed. It was the worst experience in 100's of hotel I have stayed all over North America. I provided the feedback to Manager and he was genuinely very apologetic. Next day the cleaning crew was amazing. Went up to SPA and they were nice there too. But then at 1:30pm someone rang my room phone, when I picked up they hung up. And then there was knocking on the door even though there is a sign on the door that says 'Privacy Please'. When I opened up the hotel uniform guy seemed surprised and made an excuse that he knocked the wrong floor (which is ridiculous as there are large numbers everywhere). It seemed he came to check if someone was in room and I wonder if we weren't there what would be do? Steal valuables perhaps?

Let's see how rest of the stay goes. Came here for relaxing stay and it's been a mixed experience so far.

My fiance and I spent a few nights here as a little getaway and I couldn't be more satisfied with my stay..Service was second to none from the time we arrived to a discussion with the manager one could not ask for more..The beautiful hotel completely matches the service and I dont have the words to articulate my happiness

The restaurant, Schnoor's, was great. Service and food was great. The boyfriend loved their Clam Chowder and we both loved our Ocean view seating.

This hotel offers excellent accomodations and food. You may want to call ahead and make a reservation for the restaurant, Schooners. Be sure to sit outside on the deck. The views are fantastic and there are heaters and blankets available if it's chilly. The associated coffee shop at the hotel is fantastic and offers a nice spot for a quick bite or catching up on emails. There are a lot of conferences held here, so it ia pretty lively during the week. The rooms have fantastic views of the bay. The site is historic, and the hotel was built on the property of a former local estate. There is also an atrached jewelry store. The spa is located across the street from the lobby, alongside a lical wine tasting room and a Thomas Kinkade.

The bee's knees on the Row. Beware of summer months when the place is like a Brazilian football game and packed, shoulder-to-shoulder, with tourists. However, the fact that you are likely a tourist anyway will grant you some moral repreve and you'll utterly enjoy the cool temps, the chowder and anything someone wants to sell you. Be aware that the winter months can save you some money and always ask your server for a 'local's menu'.

Beautiful hotel! I was there for a Christmas party. Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful views, and great food. Only thing is, the drinks are pricey!

Every detail has been excellent, except for the restauarant. But, it was just painfully slow.

If that worries you, go get a massage, nothing will bother you after the 80 minute head to toe massage and a couple's bath with wifey.

Right on the bay. Stayed here 24 years ago and it was a sweet time, honeymooning with my bride. Nice to come back and check out the old digs.

Getting a good price, be sure to stay there.

Had new years dinner here, swordfish was delicious and staff were very friendly and helpful.

Very nice, large, clean rooms. Gorgeous patios on the water. Everyone was very helpful and accommodating (including getting us early check-in)!

It is a beautiful hotel with fabulous rooms and the all is spectacular, the view of the ocean is fantastic and is equipped with every comfort with very knowledgeable, kind and friendly staff. Located near the center, great for taking a walk and enjoying downtown Monterey without having to travel by car.

Monterey Plaza Hotel & Spa is a beautiful resort with excellent service. The rooms are very well appointed, very clean, and spacious. The bed is very comfortable and you can request soft or firm feather and down pillows. Employees are all very friendly and helpful.

Rooms are amazing,food is ok but amzing,and the entertainment is great.

Hotel Beautiful but spent $4,800 on 2 rooms for 3 days only to be told I could not use the new spa,roof top jacuzzi,steam room, or sauna because i didn't spend another $200 per person per day on a spa treatment. Are you kidding me? Its like going to the best hotel in vegas paying for an expensive room and being told you can use the gym but thats it. WOW

The hotel has one of the best views of the Monterey Bay.

At the weekend you can relax, there is a swimming pool.

Great hotel on the water! Everything here is nice and is definitely a great place to stay. I wasn't an overnight guest, but I did come here for car week.

We paid a lot of money for a suite that was just ok. The view was great but the "suite" was basically 2 rooms which they kept one as the bedroom and made the other a tv room with no other upgrades or decorating changes. Over priced for sure relative to other suites I've seen. Check in was long and laborious.

My wife and I stayed here during last weekend of October 2020. Despite the COVID-19 restrictions and changes for the area and hotel, the stay was excellent. The staff service was impeccable and the amenities were first class.

Overbooked, as bad as that was Raven worked hard to resolve, but offered nothing for the horrible experience..
