The nice combination of a good coffee place, with a great mission (supports youths from the foster system), a great environment (supports community efforts, hangs local artist work, plenty of seating, allows you to hang out and work on your computer).5 stars for the mission alone but strong work on the coffee too

This place is good! I won't belabor how great the mission is since it's all over the reviews - but I really do like this place. They have plenty of space, including a courtyard in the back that is perfect for a summer day and an upstairs conference table that can be reserved. I got a cappuccino which was strong and delicious along with an Jewish Apple Cake which was not too sweet. Apparently it's only made on the weekends too! If I'm in the area - I'll definitely be back.

Very friendly staff and an amazing coffeehouse feel. Beautiful courtyard and an open loft space perfect for a friendly chat. The music can be a bit loud though depending on who is working.

The staff was friendly but the food and drinks need to do more than just smile at you.

I ordered a breakfast sandwich with bacon, egg and cheese on a muffin. The sandwich wasn't as bad as the price tag it came with: $8.75. For that price I should be able to get a sandwich and a coffee drink and be able to tip at least a dollar. That's not to count that I ordered two things at once and got charged for them separately.

I also ordered a caramel latter. There was not even a hint of caramel on the latte (although the foamy taste on top of the latte was a nice touch), it tasted like espresso and milk. And for $4.75, you would think that this would be a medium size at the least...it was a small.

Long story short, I'm out $14 bucks, still hungry and have not taken care of my sweet tooth (and I don't like sweets much).

Note: even living in NYC for 8 years, I never spent more than $5 bucks for a breakfast sandwich. And this place is located on Girard Ave which is still up and coming and doesn't have that expensive of a rent to pay...

Cute little coffee shop that is very community-oriented. The mission of this grant shop is to champion behind undeserved youth within Philadelphia and help them with employment and life skills. I ordered an amazing iced chai latte from the friendly cashier!

I would definitely recommend giving you money to this coffee shop!

Their customer service is great, their mission is great and their cheesecake brownies are greatest! Awesome place to grab a cup of coffee and a sandwich or baked good to get some productive work done!

This cafe is great! Sunny downstairs for reading, chilling, etc - a nice shared table upstairs for getting down on your laptops, and during summer a lush backyard.. plus they're a non-profit who genuinely gives back to the evolving Brewerytown community? C'mon... plus elephants...

Great atmosphere! Kind of hipster art-y in a fun way. We grabbed an iced tea (which was really good!) and sat outside in the back courtyard. The courtyard is decorated with lights and murals that definitely give it a secret getaway feel.

My only complaint about this place is simply that polish on that customer service experience (asking if you want it here or to go, no complaining about work crazy loud, stuff of that nature), yet I just really enjoy this place and the quality of the food and beverages. Really enjoyed there almond milk latte (not a sweet vanilla, a rich nut flavor) and their breakfast sandwiches are very tasty! Toasty, awesome Gouda (my cheese that pleases me) and sweet granny apples that complement excellent! When you understand the mission of this cafe, it's real simple to just accept whatever happens. After all, the same stuff happens at any cafe, at least your supporting folks who can really use it. Rant over enjoy your coffee!!

Where else can you feel like you re helping the community and get a great cup of coffee? They do great work with kids in the foster community. My mother regularly frequents here on her trips to see me from KC and likes to tell the barista she came specifically for the salted Rice Krispies. I hate when she says that, but they re that good. I highly recommend.

There were a few vegan options (wish there were more). There was an amazing outdoor patio but the wifi didn't reach and I was attacked by mosquitos as soon as I sat down (planting lemongrass would help). Otherwise, be careful in the neighborhood. I was almost grabbed on the street and someone else attempted to sell me something illegal as I waited a block away from the cafe for a bus (this was at 9pm, mind you).

Great little coffeeshop to get a delicious cup of iced coffee or other coffeebar/cafe items. The inside has a nice cozy atmosphere to study or read. The staff is so friendly and always providing great service whenever I stop in. Looking forward to my next visit!

Today was my first time here and I had an ok experience. It is a cute, quaint place with friendly staff. I ordered jasmine mint tea and a sun dried tomato, basil and mozzarella panini. I finished neither. The cup i had was not the cleanest and the plate with my food had been used quite often which I cold tell from the slight discoloration and knife marks. Lastly, I could not get my computer to connect to the WiFi. After numerous failed attempts, i just used my hotspot.

This place had a great vibe and was excited to try a breakfast sandwich with my girl friend. Ended up waiting for about 35 min. They were not too busy. With the two sandwiches and two coffees it was a total of $30.45 which was high I thought but would've been acceptable if I had good service. They ended up giving me a refund but when I check my credit card bill the only gave me a $16.74. Maybe was just a bad day?!?! Don't think I would go back for a sandwich but for a quick coffee maybe...

I had a breakfast sandwich which was good they also have outlets for your phone staff was friendly but I asked for a lemon water and didn't get it and when it was told to them they took a while for me to get it it was just a lemon water!

It's mostly good but sometimes annoying.

It's mostly good but sometimes annoying.

They have great drinks, food, and the service is good as well. Plus, they're helping underprivileged people move in a positive direction, which is fantastic.

However, there are days when both the management and staff are very loud, be it when they're instructing, or just in discussion. I don't think all the employees recognize what's acceptable behavior, and I think management doesn't always notice it either. And when that happens, you may be annoyed while trying to do your work.

Good strong coffee. Nothing on the menu is too appetizing and is pretty expensive. Overall though a great spot on the ave and the service is friendly. Add some more & better food options and you'll get a 5th star from me! Bagels would be an idea ;)

This spot is everything! Met with some colleagues in the upstairs space and the staff was so great. Sweets and sandwiches were great. Dre was an amazing server and accommodated our needs.
And the playlist.....yassss!

Staff was nice, seating is good including cozy upstairs. Cappuccino was good though toaster rotates. Pumpkin chocolate chip muffin was fresh and delicious. I like the original sandwich menu featuring English muffins but they should not take quite as long to produce.

I love this place. They have good coffee. I've had their pannis several times and they always hit the spot. Most of all I like the mission of the cafe and the opportunities it provides for it's staff.

Great local coffee shop with a really cool mission. I love coming here to get work done, meet up with a friend, or grab a quick cup of coffee. I also appreciate they sell 8 oz. cups of coffee as their small, as sometimes that's all I want. The staff here is super friendly, and I have always had great service.
