Excellent breakfast! Everything with Covid19 regulations handled well by staff and patrons.
Even on a foggy morning the view is amazing.

Even on a foggy morning the view is amazing.
The best view. I had the grilled seafood platter it was superb. My wife had the surf and turf she said it was delicious. The staff was friendly and welcoming. The manager and the general manager went to every table to thank guests. We were wowed. We will return
Both the food and the service are excellent. Bryanna was our server both nights and she was the best. She gave us great advice on where to go hiking.
The food was excellent from the chowder to the deserts. Of course, the views of the bay were spectacular.
Standard diner food at a decent price. Slightly cheaper than most places in downtown Bar Harbor. Unfortunately we went on a rainy day so we didn't get the view, but if you went on a sunny day I'm sure the view would be amazing.
Meh. The hostess should be fired, terrible introduction to the restaurant. The lazy lobster was good not great. The bluefish special was not very special. Drinks good. Service needs work. Atmosphere terrible. Pandora nursing home music terrible. View at night is of a motel.
Proceed with caution.....there has to be better in town.
The view here is amazing, they really aren't capitalizing. Due to covid they have some really weird practices going on such as you can only order and pay at the bar which means waiting in line. I found that the staff is hypersensitive for their own protection but not so much for guests. Food wasn't bad, hash must mean something different in Maine than it does in Pennsylvania but I'm all for new things. We would go back for the view again but not during co-vid for sure.
Ordered the lobster benedict / there were pieces of shell in the sauce and still stuck to some parts of the lobster- it was also definitely cooked the night before. When I brought it to the attention of our waitress she was unapologetic and refused to do anything. Food is overpriced for what you get - save your time and head down the road to the numerous places open in Bar Harbor. I will not be returning nor recommending this place.
Too good to be true, and it is.
This would be a beautiful dinner location, as the restaurant s large windows overlook Bar Harbor s incredible seascape rolling fog over the islands and ships... but directly at the base of this view are the blaring cheap, chunky motels.
While dining with my family I couldn t help but notice that the uneasy and overly eager staff bore remarkable resemblance to the Adams family. Bu-da-bum-bum.
The food was good but quite small in portions and not in an elegant way either. Definitely not worth it s lofty price tag.
Best view on island. Only breakfast this year. Normally dinner.
The food is nothing special. Bland and average, perhaps overpriced. Service was slow and we were the only people there. No atmosphere or sense of warmth or life.
Five star view, zero star everything else.
The staff is dedicated to making an all around great experience! My wife and I spent our honeymoon at the blusenose inn and went to the looking glass restaurant several times for breakfast. We were impressed each time with the efficiency of the staff and the phenomenal views. We are looking forward to returning in the future!!
Good food, but small portions for the price. Also, need better signage to find the place. Service was good.
We made reservations for 4. Our guests got there before us not knowingly, however the host sat is at a table that was set for two and small for only two. Then we notice that our other guests were already there (why didn't the waiter mention 2 others already came in for the same name, could they be with you? Instead of just sitting us at a table for 2). Really strange. The "lazy lobster" was very small portion for the amount of money paid, and not a lot of flavor. Honestly didn't even seem like there was a whole lobster in the dish.
The waitress we had, Becky, was really great. She definitely made the visit pleasant.
We do recommend the blueberry pie for desert, this was phenomenal.
Our family was here for breakfast 3 days while we were staying in Bar Harbor for a vacation. The view is excellent! While the food was decent, the service was very poor. And it is expensive. Citing Corona, they have one waiter serving 8 or 9 tables. The food came late and the waitress was quite rude. Not worth coming here.
We had a reservation for 6:30 we did not have our food yet at 7:30 when we they brought it out it was cold and we had to send it back I thought it was horrible
The food, the staff and views are the best in town.
Small selection building Is old and food is an outrageous prices
Ravioli is awesome! Will come again, fire pit is a good addition.
Eclectic menu with an array of choices, I had banana bread French toast made from scratch for breakfast which was super delicous and for dinner had the chicken piccata my husband had the grilled beef tips we both enjoyed our meals thoroughly... our server was bubbly and took great care of us... also the view is amazing it's a great place to escape the crowded town... definitely recommend this place to everyone
Enjoyed a delicious, made to order breakfast! Subbed Canadian bacon and gluten free toast. Great food with a spectacular view!
Nice view & service but food was not good & very overpriced
Very sad ending to a beautiful week with my family. Should have read previous reviews. View was beautiful and place looked clean. Service on the other hand was horrendous. I have never been to a place that I had to wave over the waiter to ask for drinks that had never been served or to be refilled. Food was overpriced and cold as we waited over an hour for it. Will not return or recommend this place.
Food was good, but dude and chic were both rude. He seemed anxious and made me anxious too. Maybe he wanted to close up shop because it was a few minutes after 10 a.m. Or maybe he acted the way he did because of covid. Chapped me for standing up without mask. Then she accused us of leaving w/out paying. Didnt ask, just assumed. Of course we Had paid him. Wouldn't be dishonest like that, but wouldn't take chance with that few patrons anyway. Would have liked to enjoy the food and view again before vacation was over, but nope, wont go back.
I wouldn't recommend. I'm sorry, but our breakfast was disappointing. One toast, not two. Eggs were ok, but nothing special. Plastic utensils and paper plates. Coffee was strong and no refills.
Hard to rate the restaurant as we only ate breakfast there but the patio has a wonderful propane fire pit which we enjoyed immensely. The bartender working on the 12th and 13th evening was amazing! She was very friendly and accommodating and her flexibility facilitated an amazing family reunion.
Beautiful view, live music, fire pit on the porch. Unfortunately can't walk around the porch to see entire view because its "sketchy." Very pricey we got 2 apps and 2 glasses of wine and it was over 60$.
Nice views but a bit disorganized with seating and orderiing food.
Get price from wine spectator - why I do not know .... for the service at least not! half an hour to be noticed ... well ... wine list! Location and view great. Prices of the menu are Nepp!
Great little restaurant- unbeatable view. We went for the Chef's Table, it was delicious!!!
Good food, reasonable prices, nice views, friendly service.
I know that they say that they are pet friendly and welcome your doggo to sit with you on the patio, best view in town. They took it to the next. Without a doubt the best experience that I could have hoped for. Oh yeah, the food was outstanding too. All around great experience. We are going back.
The wait staff is extremely friendly and helpful. The setting is very cozy the food was amazing.
The owner of this business is so rude. Most terrible place I visited in Maine.
Great food and drinks, amazing view of Frenchman's Bay, and very friendly and accommodating staff - what's not to like? We always try to take out of state visitors here when visiting MDI. On more than one occasion we've seen cooks going down to their garden to pluck ingredients. Can't get much fresher than that.
Good breakfast..summer staff needs a little more training
Exceptional meal and stellar service. Perfect evening!
This place was wonderful! We got there and were seated right next to the window which was an amazing view. We watched as the tide went down and showed the sandbar (which we went and walked on later). the staff were amazing and very polite. My water glass never went empty. I would say that the portions were a tad small for the prices but the taste was wonderful!
One of the most delicious breakfasts l have had. Fresh Maine blueberry pancakes, bacon, eggs and all the extra s. Service was excellent and the view of the Atlantic ocean was breathtaking!
Would have loved to have tried this place this morning for breakfast. I checked online and their hours said they were open until 10:30. I showed up at 9:30. Door was locked but the lights were on with a couple of cars in the parking lot. I tried giving the place a call since there was no sign on the door saying they weren't open. No answer and their answering machine said they had opened April 26th for the season. After a few minutes, a girl that works there saw me outside. I knocked and asked if they were opening up, all she said to me was "Not this morning". No other reason just not today. It just seemed that because it was a slow day, they decided to close up shop really early. I'm from out-of-state and leaving Maine today. It would have been nice to end the trip with a breakfast with a view of the harbor. Oh well.
It's a good thing I didn't try this restaurant the first day I was there because I would have eaten every meal there and never made it to town.
DO NOT GO HERE- the only good part was the view. Food was bad and service was terrible. Our waitress was literally a crook. Both of our breakfasts clearly indicated that home fries came with it yet our waitress tried to charge us for them and then started to argue that they were separate. We asked for her to grab a menu for us to show her and she begrudgingly did so and removed it from our check since it was included. We asked for the check split and gave her 2 cards. She brought the check back but forgot to split it. She also forgot the toast that came with one of the meals. We specifically asked for the type on ordering so it s not like she didn t know. The speed to get the food was also the slowest I have ever experienced for breakfast (45min) and it was not busy. The food I really can t say anything good about. The execution of everything was just terrible. For example my hollandaise sauce was chunky.
Was upset enough about this meal I called and asked for the manager and she rectified the situation. I will try this again and hopefully will leave a more positive review.
Food was great! The staff was even better. We had omelettes with home fries and everything was perfect. Garrett was our server and he did an excellent job. Gave us some good pointers on places to check out and was just a good guy to talk too. Very dog friendly and one of the other servers even brought out a small plate of food for our dog on the patio without us asking or anything. Along with everything bring perfect the view is amazing... Just amazing
I love Maine and Acadia natl park love going to looking glass for a delicious breakfast before a day of adventuring. Amazing view of Bar Harbor in the dinning area.
Delecious food. My lobster stew arrived with very little lobster. I sent it back and more was added.
Overpriced for mediocre dining. This place is punching above its weight and promises much more than it delivers. The Seafood Gnocchi dish was a stodgy mess and the drizzle of carbonara sauce was completely overpowered by the ham/bacon, subsequently there was barely a hint of seafood flavor. The mussels were so overdone, they were crispy around the edges. My wife had chicken which was passable, hence 2 stars.
Went there with my wife the view was great the service was terrible our waitress had little to no personality and you could that she would rather be some where else. The food was over priced and did not feature local seafood at all. Will not go back so many other great places in Bar Harbor.
No ice in water. Bread was hard as a rock. Prices way too high for the quality of food. Good service.
Great view.
We won t ever go back. Not downtown but close to many hotels.
Just beware.
Delicious food, witty and nice wait staff, excellent setting
Food was fine. But very noisy in restaurant. Fabulous views. Staff friendly.
Food is great service is great covid friendly and beautiful views of the water and makes you feel like your in a resort also 10/10
Very poor experience.. slow service and cold food after waiting over a hour. Over priced considering the extremely poor service. Would not recommend or return.
Great Vegan Food...awesome service, a beautiful view, & a Wicked Good Fire!!!
Delicious food and a great view! Highly recommend the blueberry chili sauce if you're there for breakfast. It's amazing! The blueberry pie dessert is to die for as well, if you're there while it's in season!
This place advertises far and wide that it is dog friendly, but don't be fooled. We arrived for breakfast mid morning when there were at most 3 tables busy. We were told that we could not sit outside on the beautiful sunny day with our dog because the patio was closed for the season. Huh? The patio was full of chairs and tables. How hard would it have been to let us sit out there when they weren't even busy? There's a reason they don't get much business -- no flexibility or concern for customers. And a place isn't dog-friendly if they don't make space for dogs available. It is not worth the trip.
Awesome view. The windows are hugh. It's a small place but feels much bigger. Food was food and staff was ok.
At the entrance to the restaurant there was an unpleasant smell that I later realized was because of the lobsters. The restaurant is very beautiful and luxurious and on the day you can see the bay. We ordered Lazy lobster was nice.
The lobster has a viscous texture and something I'm not enthusiastic about.
The salad was good. We ordered dessert blueberry pie - not as exciting as hot blueberry jam with plain bread dough. Pretty disappointing. Very expensive.
So much potential. Food is okay, as well is service. Seems owners are not sure what to do with a great location for discerning customers.
Great views, loved the lobster soup, will have to try their breakfast!
We found this place accidentally by following a sign to ocean views and a Hampton Inn hotel on Cleftstone Rd . Much to our surprise the ocean views were from this restaurant next to an older style motel. We arrived when they were closed for lunch so we decided to return the following morning for breakfast on the last day of vacation. Sadly it was at the end of our trip or we would have gone back for another meal. Breakfast on a sunny day was simply perfect. I should have taken pics of the food to show everyone. Pancakes with Maine maple syrup, eggs, bacon, crispy home fries, and multigrain whole wheat toast with coffee and OJ were all prepared with love. Next time we visit Acadia we will be returning to try dinner. A visit for the view alone would be worth the ride. GPS is wrong, just turn onto Cleftstone and follow it to the end.
Awesome food with great atmosphere. Little darker for my taste, but goes well with the place.
The food was terrible, no seasoning, cold, and overall DO NOT RECOMMEND. We ordered the crab dip appetizer with artichokes. It had huge pieces of artichokes very overwhelming. Then the crab cake which I order had so much corn meal in it, no seasoning and barely any crab. My wife ordered steak tips with gnocchi which was cold and seemed as though the gnocchi was cold. We asked to have the meals taken back, paid for the over prices appetizer and left. DO NOT EAT HERE!
Maine Lobster was too bland and too little lobster for the money => Maine Lobster was too bland for me and too little lobster for the money
Overpriced small portions. Limited selection. bread and view is good but I paid $38 for a lazy lobster which consisted of the meat from a 1-1/4 pound lobster and 2 small potatoes. by the way lobster is about $5 a pound in maine... Ripoff and nothing special about the service either. saw waitress only to take order and deliver check
was goin too fast down the mountain on my skateboard and lost control and screwed myself up. limped uphill and got to this place and asked for bandaids, thank you to the waitress that helped me out, you're a real one. great view but i bet their food is great.
Very pretty place !! But super expensive and not alot to choose from.
Great food, good service, reasonable prices, and a great view. My family and I loved our breakfast here, 5/5 would come back again!
A friend and I stayed right next to this restauaunt for a weekend. We were excited to be so close for breakfast. We waited for a rather long time for coffee. There were only about 6 tables of people and several wait staff. No one ever checked on us or offered us drinks. We ended up leaving when we saw other tables leaving to get their own drinks and bringing it back to their tables. They had been there longer. I don't normally leave bad reviews, 20 minutes for coffee is too long.
Awesome breakfast, get the omelet or pancakes. I think these were the best pancakes I ever ate. You must have the blueberry pancakes. Seafood omelet is delicious. The views here are worth the trip alone.
So, it's a good place. Super friendly staff...
The food was good for everyone, but me... lol.. I asked for over easy eggs, got fully cooked eggs. They forgot our toast with the breakfasts, but remembered my English muffin. I reminded them they forgot the toast, they brought me mine and forgot my kids. Then they charged me for the toast that came with the meal.
It is the most beautiful Restaurant I've ever seen. Beautiful view. The staff was so kind I couldn't bring myself to tell them my meal was all wrong and messed up. We tipped 20% because they were so nice.
Pretty place, wild rice & chicken was really good & I loved the salad with the raisins & blueberry vinaigrette
We love the view, they are dog friendly and my Halibut was excellent.
I stayed at Wonder View Inn for 3 nights. The first 2 mornings I went over to Looking Glass Restaurant for breakfast but both days they were closed to the general public as they were catering to tour groups only. It seems they prefer tour groups as opposed to individuals. I did not go back the third morning as I presumed I would be turned away again. A very poor way to operate a restaurant. I was highly looking forward to dining there as it was convenient to Wonder View Inn. The inn offered a continental breakfast but I prefer a full breakfast when traveling. So, I went to restaurants in Bar Harbor for breakfast. Would not recommend going to this establishment for breakfast as you will be turned away. Extremely disappointing. Thank you.
5-Stars for the view!!! It was incredible view. We had lobster and blueberry pie and all was great!!!
Had the scallops with risotto and it was amazing. My wife's lazy lobster was ok. If you have kids don't bring them here. Charged us $12 for buttered noodles.
Sat on tjhe outside deck since we had our dog. Very accommodating to us and the dog. Fantastic view of the bay and the park. Food was well prepared and had good flavor. Bloody mary was not very spicy and on the small side. Prices are a bit steep.
