The Kahului Ale House Review

Excellent menu choices for lunch. Had a turkey club sandwich which was great. I would go back there again.

Closed early on a Saturday because there is a concert and they don't want the crowd. Disappointing!

Nice service - food is tasty but a bit overpriced! Drinks and dessert are okay.

This is definitely one of my go to's. I almost always know what to expect. The drink are okay as well.

I ve been on Maui for a few years now and this was my first time at Ale house. We went in and were greeted by the hostess. We ordered off the menu, and were surprised how fast our ahi tuna salad came out. The tuna was fine but overall the salad was just ok. I ordered the burger which was split on 2 plates as I was sharing with my daughter. It was very tasty. The Mac salad was less than good, no real flavor. Another person with us ordered a kids meal and it was ok. The service was actually not bad and the waitress split the plate on the burger without even asking. The biggest issue and the reason for the less than par review was with the kids meal they provided scoop of Icecream. The Icecream came out and it was freezer burnt. The confusing part was the salad came on one bill and the bar food came out on a separate bill. The burger was good the rest was bleh.

Here's my honest take on Ale House.

Everything on the food, drink, sushi, AND happy hour menus are overpriced. I remember the calamari being so good here now it's just small crumbs of little rings of batter. The nachos are a joke, you can pay over $20 of chips and cheese and other ingredients that looks like it come from cans when you can go to the store and buy the exact same ingredients and have it come out to less than what its offered here. Over the many times I've been here the female bartenders only gives attention to the guys who sit at the bar and for the guy bartenders it's the same with females sitting at the bar. One time I saw what I think was maybe a supervisor or manager (a tall white bald man) yell at his employees in the back corner while I was coming out the restroom. How embarrassing for the employees, why couldn't he have taken them to the back and talk to them like a normal and reasonable employer. All of ale house employees don't deserve to get treated like that especially in front of customers. For all the TVs in that place i'm surprised that most tvs have the same channel on it. There's also all those ACs in there and it's still really hot most times where I've asked a server to turn the AC colder but was told if she puts it's colder the AC would start to leak water! All that money goes into that place just to have cheap ACs that can't keep the customers in a comfortable environment. Shame. But what's kept me coming back over the past years is the awesome service, friendly smilies and laughs I get from some of the long time workers there. They are the real face of Ale House, not the overpriced food and drinks!

Solid bar food with ample beer on tap. The teriyaki burger was tasty. If you get cold easily maybe bring a light sweater or wear pants, the A/C is not lacking. Live music played on Friday night, when we went, which made for a good atmosphere.

Great sports bar, gets crowded, wich they had compact tables to have more people in during games.

Screens, screens, screens. No, really: lots and lots of screens. Very good set of beer on tap. Decent food: otherwise good blue cheese burger was dominated entirely by the cheese, and the vegi wrap had too much dressing. But the staff are friendly, and it hit the spot.

Casual dining at its best. Great staff, great food, and different sports on the various tvs. Fantastic value for your money.

This is your traditional "sports bar".
Lots and lots of big screen TV's. The food is good, and the service staff friendly and attentive. One extra...there is a sushi bar and sushi chef for those of you who like sushi.

Slow service from our kind but extremely forgetful waitress. She forgot my main meal and a drink I ordered until I reminded her a second time.

Great service! Everyone was so friendly. The food was good and the beer was delicious.

Hostess couldn't spell my name upon arrival and then told us an hour and a half wait. She wrote "Ball" like my name's that hard to spell.

Miss me with that way too long wait! Went to Da Kitchen instead.

Atmosphere was noisy and packed with only a few people waiting in the entrance.

Loved this place. They had soooooooooo much to drink! It was so pretty and clean. Service was great we loved our food. And they had sooo many tvs and sports. We absolutelly loved it. Super close to the airport

The Chicken Tortilla Soup... "House Special" is a pathetic joke. I like just abput everything about the Ale House but that soup needs to be fixed or taken off the menu

Great food, great service, great atmosphere! Lots of sports on many TV's.

Nice place to go if you want to watch sports. They have many TVs showing different games. Can get loud, but to be expected. We have dined here several times and the food is always good. A little pricey, but so is everything else in the world. I tried the sushi last time, and I was pleased.

They do have great Sushi,very fresh,awesome Caterpillar Roll,my fav,with awesome service,with a smile.

Food is good for a fast paced bar, plenty of parking, there is a sushi bar inside as well which adds variety to the bar food. There are 3 pool tables which is a big plus. Enough TVs around to see sports. There is an area that has booths to make it feel more like a restaurant which is a good mix. We had a large group on Friday labor day weekend so it was busy. Waitresses were helpful but seemed to lag a bit, I'm sure they were busy and we had a group of 10 as well. 3 stars is pretty solid in my book, 4 is great service even when bust and 5 when overwhelmed staff makes it an over the top experience. A lot of places close early in Maui so having this open until 11pm isn't too bad especially since they serve decent food.

Over 30 draught beers including a rotating mainland feature. Happy hour offers reasonable discounts. Food is also tasty. I recommend the nachos. There are also 3 pool tables available, games are $1.50 each. Good spot for locals or tourists.

Food is good. Sushi is really good. Service is pretty good. The beer and whiskey selections are fantastic. Lots of TV's to watch the latest sporting event. Awesome live music. And 3 pool tables that are in very good shape.

Nice place. Sushi was good but pricey. Service was sub par and took 15 minutes sitting at the bar to get my first drink with my Buddy. Even after spending $200+ there.... No friendly regards or name exchange just always struggling to get drinks and food. Too bad. Has the potential for greatness if only more personal service and care for customers. Jasmine from sushi bar and Matt from bar back was saving grace from 1 star to 3 but huge potential for 5 stars!

Great stop to visit to unwind a little bit while you are in Maui to have some good drinks and food and to just chill for a while. Took good care of me.

One of the few late night places to eat in Kahului...at least that we could find...this and Zippy's...
The staff was very nice here and let us eat close to closing. We were HUNGRY when we got in from Seattle and they fed us! Thank you!
While not the most exciting food during our trip, we found the Saimin and the Fish and Chips good, satisfying and plentiful.
The have a full bar here and tons of drinks that they serve up capably.
Service was excellent. Our waitress was fast, friendly and gracious. Aloha!!!

Food was really good, service was great. I'll go back anytime, except don't order the shake not worth it.

Ate here a few times previously and was good. This time ordered happy hour nachos and onion rings, onion rings were really greasy but the nachos were the worst I have ever had. The grease was soaked through the chips so bad they were soggy and pork was almost all fat. Like they poured the bottom of the pan over the top of the chips.
Very disappointed this time. They did however credit them on the bill.

Food is decent but don't go here if you are in a rush

Amazing Fish and Chips, and the spinach artichoke dip!! Ani and Ipo always take such good care of us.

It's great to watch football and the food is pretty decent but the bloody Mary's are just aweful and the prices are insane. If it's a Sunday and I want to watch some football then it's where I'll be but I won't be very happy about it.

Food was decent and hot server was sweet the cleanliness was my issue, German roaches were inside our booth and kept peeking out... running across partitions and into small nooks and crannies

Came to Maui on my honeymoon, wanted a restaurant not too expensive and stuffy, felt right at home here and ended up coming back twice. Service was friendly and had good suggestions, and we enjoyed the inside/outside seating. Would definitely come back.

The Food is good and the service is great! The bartenders Matt and Lenore are awesome people and I come back to this place because they are so gracious and are very professional when servicing their customers.

Service is always sketchy, this was worse waited 45 minutes for a sandwich, finally came and it was wrong, sent it back waited another 20 minutes and till no sandwich, asked for the check. The only redeeming thing was a manager type comped the 2 beers I had. It will be a long time before I go back.

Had a wonderful w hours with my sister catching up on life with a gew drinks and great appetizers. Waitress had great attitude and was attentive to our table while we were just chatting away. Prices were reasonable at a great location.

The owner of this establishment has barred me from visiting because I gave a bad review. I understand his point, since I am a former employee and seperated on bad terms nearly 8 years ago. I do still work in industry and could be conceived as "slandering the competition" or whatever. So... Let me elaborate on my last visit.

I walked in at about 1840 last night (Saturday, 10/10/20). My girlfriend and I sat at the bar and waited for our drinks patiently maybe a few minutes. A lone bartender (Niki) seemed overwhelmed, maybe I'm wrong, there were about a dozen people on the bar. She made her way around, got my drink order (Modelo Especial for me, water for my girl). Got my beer, waited a few minutes for water and a menu. Then we waited maybe 10 minutes or so for our food order to be taken and a non alcoholic beer for my girl as she's not drinking right now. Niki had to track down another employee to ask if the even had a non alcoholic beer, which they do (they carry Buckler). The Cobb Salad is amazing, as always. The calamari and chicken tenders both feel way over breaded and possibly double fried. Not sure on either. I prefer to eat my calamari with chopsticks, so I had to flag down another server to get them. When our food arrived, I was ready for another beer, which came in pretty short order. As we neared the end of our food, I finished my beer and was ready for another. My glass sat empty for 7 minutes as the bartender walked past me, no less than half a dozen times, not even looking at me. So, I decided I wouldn't have another. I asked for my check, which popped up instantly. My total was $54.54. I paid with a hundred dollar bill. My received change was $40.46.... hmm.... I asked Niki to come back and count my change again, she did, and acknowledged that it was incorrect. She gave me the rest of my change and I left a poor tip to match the poor service.

Now with all that said, my review of one star might be unfair. In fact, the poor review was solely directed at the bar service. I will change it to 3 stars because the food really was ok, they do have all those really nice TV's and the restrooms are next level.

So, Brad, if you feel the need to 86 me, that's fine. But, here's your explanation.

This place was awesome! Killer food and drinks. The TVs were showing surfing and motocross, and the servers were perfect! Good drinks and beer selection.

Watched a great Seahawks game while ok vacation had a great time.

Seated right away. Awesome service. Food was tasty and satisfying. Would recommend to our family and friends. Will go back again.

Sport bar Very varied menu, dishes, portions, sushibar, variety of beers. Steak very good!

Server was very nice, food was so so. Server didn't write our order down and forgot the appetizer, burger was rare, not medium well, and never did get a second beer I requested.

Too brightly lit. No one was engaging . It's a sports bar.

Food was flavorless and the football game was so loud that we couldn't talk to each other without yelling.

Just had lunch for the 1st time today. It was teriyaki chicken and it was delicious. The interior is also looks good and is very inviting. I will be coming back to try more of their dishes.

Service was ok just food wasnt top notch kine. Notten about the food stood out but the different types of beer n sake made it better.
