The rooms were beautiful and very comfortable with a private home feeling to them. I had the opportunity to see a few of the different rooms and they are all unique and well done. I was pleasantly surprised to find a towel warmer in the bathrooms which is a treat usually reserved for European get aways. The restaurant Krazy Kats was also very good and had a nice atmosphere while also being a little kooky! Ubers were not that easy to get nearby and usually took about 10mins to arrive so plan accordingly.

A little piece of Colonial Williamsburg in Delaware! This cluster of 19th Century buildings is tucked away in the Brandywine Valley amid wonderful surroundings. The buildings are modernizes colonial type structures. I stayed in Henry duPont, a half-chalet with modern bathroom and kitchenette. Furniture is consistent with the period and in very good condition. A such, I cannot understand the review that criticized the place as worn down; I didn't see any evidence of that.
The main building has a stunning public seating area reminiscent of a country lodge. The on-site restaurant, Kit Kats, is avant grade in its decoration. Service is slow but the food is expertly prepared and the two half-plates I ate were memorable.
I had no issues with any of the staff. The front desk crew was young and weren't particularly helpful in identifying local restaurants, but it wasn't the end of the world.
I'd stay here again without hesitation.

Had dinner at Krazy Kats, the premier restaurant in The Inn at Montchanin. The food was amazing and inspired. We ordered scallops and filet. Everything was perfect. The pots de creme for dessert was unbelievable.
We walked down Privy Lane to look at the cottages after dinner. While I did not stay there, I will seriously consider it in the future.

If you want a warm welcome with cheerful smiles, this is not the place for you. One would think that bringing business during Covid times would bring a smile on their faces but on the contrary. We had blank and unfriendly looks from the reception and the host at the only restaurant, Krazy Kat or the Spa. Maybe we were too diverse for the place.
The rooms are clean and the only friendly people on the property are the cleaning staff. I would not recommend this place. The location is not great as it s the intersection of two busy streets and there is traffic all the time. The only tips we got about the area were from the lovely proprietor of Petals, a store across the street. The main lobby hall and reception were blocked off for what we were sternly told was a private event, no further explanation, no apology. All in all a cold two days with unfriendly people.

Went to Krazy Kats restaurant at the Inn, food and service was excellent. While most other places give you a large quantity of mediocre food (since it's cheaper for them to do quantity over quality), the courses at Krazy Kats were delicious More

How was the Inn at Monchanin? I couldn't tell you. Despite having made a reservation weeks before, and the inn requesting confirmation of our Saturday night stay the prior Tuesday (I literally replied the minute their email came in) I received a non-apologetical and nothing but perfunctory phone call on Friday at 3:30pm that the inn would not honor our reservation. The woman who called me could have cared less but did offer to put us up at a Best Western hotel at their expense. On such short notice, we from New Jersey and our friends from Maryland, had no chance to book lodgings to our liking and took "the offer we couldn't refuse". Upon checking in to the Best Western we learned that the Inn routinely overbooks and sends displaced guests there. In reading the other negative reviews on Trip Advisor (which I wish we had done before booking here), it would strike me you'd be better off doing business with any other inn, B&B or hotel in the area than you would with this one. Total F- experience

Krazy Kat cafe for a perfectly delicious late lunch. Lobster quiche. A decadent chocolate cherry cake.
Only pique was the amount of time it took to be acknowledged then seated then attended to. We wanted more speed and communicated to deaf ears.

The rooms are comfortable and feel more like a home than a hotel. The room service menu was delicious, but limited - it could use some kids entries. My kids and I loved the place and are planning to return to take in more of the interesting attractions in the area.

My fiance and I visited this establishment at the beginning of August 2018 and fell in love with it for our wedding weekend...leaving my name and number for a call back we left excited about our find. 3 weeks later, NEVER got a call back. So I contacted them again and left several messages for two different contacts...AGAIN NO RESPONSE after 3 more weeks. Another month went by (October 2018) and my fiance called and left two messages, using his company name the second time...STILL NO RESPONSE! We are absolutely appalled at the customer service of this Inn. Wondering if our last name was Dupont we might have received a return call. So very sad that in this day and age of technology that we can't even get a call back. Unacceptable and Unbelievable Customer Service and we have given up on this establishment! If their customer service at the front end is any indication of what would commence later on...we will have dodged a bullet.

An historic neighborhood has been preserved as an inn with the feel of a museum village. Workers housing dating back to the DuPont mills have been re-purposed as luxury accommodations. Friendly staff and fine dining.

I took my wife to Krazy Kats for her birthday dinner and could not have been happier with the experience. We started with cocktails. I had a dark & stormy and she had a gun & tonic. Both very well made. Appetizer was the amazing veal shepherds pie pierogis. My wife had the twin filets and I had suck breast. I never pass up an opportunity to have duck and this did not disappoint. Overall I highly recommend dining here.
