Beautiful decor, relaxing atmosphere, and excellent music performed by local musicians. They hosted a highly talented artist for Artwolk as well, which I'd what drew me to the Tremont.

BEWARE!!! Do not book a room here!! They do not treat their customers right. My flight was delayed over 10 hours. I called the reservation department to let them know of my late arrival (9 am) in hopes of getting to crash for a few hours until the noon check out. Reservations told me "no problem we will let them know you will be arriving"
When I get to the hotel "Eric" was anything but helpful. He tried to tell me I was a no show and I couldn't have the room I paid for even though check out wasn't for a few hours.
I don't care how late I show up if I warned you I was going to be late and I show up before check out give me my room.
Zero stars for customer service. STAY ELSEWHERE!!
Response to Hotel's Reply: I wasnt a no show. I called to warn you I would be late and was told this would be ok. You guys are liars and don't treat customers right.
Very nice place for a weekend get away. Within walking distance to food, drinks and shopping.
Located close to the water with shopping boutiques nearby. A bar on the roof. Clean and spacious rooms. Friendly service.
They don't work the A/C very well, bit the venue is very nice.
I see a lot of negative reviews, thinking about staying here but the reviews tells me otherwise.
Good shower, nice comfy beds but they charge $17.00 per day to park! Breakfast does not have many choices, rooftop bar is scenic but service is limited.
Came here for the rooftop bar. Great place to enjoy a breeze and relax. Unfortunately, their beer selection could stand to be a little better. Atmosphere is hard to beat here in Galveston though.
This is a beautiful hotel and we love staying here more every time we visit.
Charming hotel. Efficient staff. Suggest you take advantage of vallet parking so car gets off the street at night.
We were on the rooftop bar. The service was a little slow (it got really crowded when a wedding party shower up) but the drinks were good and the views were amazing
Also a sweet place to stay for a weekend getaway when you're looking for play!
This is such a great getaway. Very cool to be a block from the strand. They have shuttle service and share amenities with the Galvez. Always had a great time here.
Beautiful place and my wife and I enjoyed our stay. We'll most definitely consider coming back here in the future.
Went to the roof top bar, great view of the city. I'll definitely have to come back and watch a sunset from there.
Enjoyed cocktails and charcuterie plate on the rooftop terrace.
The rooms are spacious, and the bathroom is elegant. There are multiple meeting rooms and a fairly accommodating gathering space.
Everything was good except the velet people stole some money from the truck sunglasses holder and the room had a moldy smell.
Old hotel with lots of character. The rooms have very high ceilings and classic decor. Very clean and well-maintained. They had live music in the foyer on Friday night. Our room faced the street which was a little bit noisy on a busy Friday night. This hotel is affiliated with the Galvez hotel where you can park your car for the week if going on a cruise out of Galveston.
A wonderful place, looking forward to come back. The staff is just amazing and very professional and very very friendly, I just love The Tremint House, thank you for a wonderful experience.
We had an extremely positive experience at this hotel. It was spotless clean and the room was far above average. We also enjoyed the location which was downtown. Short drive to the beach. The staff was very good.
I booked this hotel on a third party website. Reason for choosing this hotel was they advertized as being pet friendly. I was shocked when I arrived and was told there would be a $100 per night fee for my dog.
The information on the website I booked with was not clear regarding the fee. In addition, the contract one must sign when checking in is really binding and they have the right to charge all kinds of extra fees at their discretion. In addition, the only place you can take your pet within the hotel is in your room. I understand not having pets in work out facilities, indoor restaurants etc, but they are not even allowed on the roof top outdoor bar area. There is not an area for your pets to do their business on the entire property. You must walk outside the hotel and down and across the street to a city pet area. In addition the hotel staff attempted to charge me double the pet fee at check out. They adjusted the charges to what I had agreed on, but still charged my debit card $175 over what the invoice was. I had to call the hotel to correct the issue. Now wait 48 to reflect in my bank account.
The rest of the experience was ok, but not 4 star service and the maid was rude to my wife when she asked for an extra bottle of water from the maid cart.
Can't really tell you how the food was as we only had a couple of poached eggs for breakfast that we took back to the room in a cup as there was no outside seating to enjoy a meal with our pet.
Won't be staying there again.
Party Hotel, hotel staff don't seem to care hope noisy people are in the back after 11:30 at night. Don't stay here if you actually want to get to sleep before 3am!
We have a booking that the hotel won't cancel despite being tourists from Australia. We thought common courtesy would permit a refund? Our thoughts are firmly with all the unfortunate victims of the recent flooding disaster, I think common sense would suggest avoiding the area unless it's absolutely necessary to visit. As often the case, Hotels pretend all is perfectly fine when media clearly reports the area will take years to recover. Discraceful money grabbing, shame on you!
Sept 7 update
As per your comment from last week, I contacted your property today. Michelle in reservations was not helpful at all and even suggested that the roads in and around Texas are not affected by Hurricane Harvey.
We are tourists from Australia making a once in a lifetime trip to the USA and are shocked at your inflexibility. When we made our reservation months ago, we had no way to know that a disaster of this magnitude would occur.
We urge you to seriously reconsider our request to cancel our booking without penalty.
Very disappointed in your lack of customer service. Not the level of service we expected to receive.
The service is top notch. Doors are opened for you by the staff, valet parking, and the friendliest hotel employess I've ever seen. Price is a bit high but a nice place. Fair warning if you are staying here during Mardi Gras then expect heavy traffic and blocked roads.
Staff was amazing. Everyone is super friendly and helpful. Rooms are really comfortable. Only one suggestion, they need mini frigs in the rooms.
Due to the location, it wasn't really optional but mandatory to use valet parking. The girl working the front desk was very pleasant and gave us a detailed list of places to eat including a map. The rooms do not have mini fridges which was a bit disappointing.
There are not enough Stars for my favorite hotel in Galveston. Right next to the Strand and all the fine dining experiences classic Old World hotel with modern amenities excellent service bright and clean just be prepared to pay perfect place to stay if you're going on a cruise. Parking is free while you're gone if you stay there before you go and when you come back. That's quite an offset to your hotel bill
To start, I have no issues with the property itself. It is nestled nicely in the heart of Galveston offering nice amenities and convenience to local fare.
However, my issue with booking and untimely departure has left quite the poor taste.
My family and I had booked 4 nights to stay unaware of Harvey regaining strength off the coast. We were able to stay two nights when the Governor declared a state of emergency ahead of the storm. Being of sound mind, we decided to leave and heed the State, Local, and National warnings. When discussing with the third party about receiving a refund for nights unstayed (I travel 26 weeks of the year and both IHG and Hilton always charge the nights stayed even when leaving early) the third party notified me that the Hotel's booking manager refused to refund any money and I would be charged the full amount. I took it upon myself to speak with management to which the front desk responded with "Management doesn't think the storm will be that bad, it's just a bunch of rain. They will decide later if they will issue refunds due to the storm".
I got as much information as I could and departed.
EXTREMELY disappointed with the lackluster support from management. I can understand if this was a privately owned institution, but it's not. It's owned by Wyndham, and much larger chain of 2-3 star hotels.
My case here is a rare one, but when traveling with two young children things come up and sometimes the party gets cut short. Be aware of this as you book with the Tremont House.
***Update***
I have only been charged for the nights stayed per The Tremont House.
Rating has been changed and my outlook has improved with the hotel.
The hotel it self is very grandiose, but the rooms are lacking. Peeling wallpaper, dingy bathrooms, and obvious dust settled on everything. Our room was also very loud we could hear every word from people passing in the hall way and out on the street. Not to mention the linens felt like sand paper. Overall the value isn't there significantly over priced rooms that offer ZERO luxury or even comfort.
Friendly staff beautiful rooms and a great rooftop bar
Wow, I've never seen ceilings this high other the the Taj Mahal! We stayed for 2 days over Thanksgiving. The room service was fantastic. Our room faced a wall of construction on the other side of the street but its so beautiful inside we didn't mind at all. The beds are firm yet plush and there's a great pillow selection. The only true downside was the shower was barely lukewarm. There's so much else here that more than makes up for that though.
The rooms are great, very clean, quie and comfortable. The staff are exceptionally professional, attentive and friendly. The location is perfect for cruising and spending time on the Strand.
We loved our stay at the Tremont in Galveston to celebrate our 32nd wedding anniversary! We loved the rooftop bar too!
Amazing stay! Was able to see parades out our window. Sadly the weather didn't cooperate so the rooftop bar was closed. Customer service was superb!
We went to the rooftop bar to have a few cocktails. The drinks were great but took forever to get. Some of the heaters were not working on the chilly night. Service was not that good so 3 stars is the most I can give the place.
Enjoyed my stay here. Great for a nice weekend getaway. Live jazz in the lounge on Friday & Saturday evenings. Would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is beautiful and the rooms are spacious and nice. The location is close to a lot of good restaurants & shops (although we didn't shop). The staff is incredible!!! They were all so friendly and ready to help. They also go above and beyond. First, my husband left his cell phone in his car when he valeted the car. The valet noticed and gave it to the front desk. They called to let us know they had it at the front desk. Most valets would have parked the car and this would have turned into a lengthy process of having to get them to go back to the vehicle to get it. And then on the day we were leaving, our car battery was dead. The valet manager got his car and jumped our car for us. Talk about above and beyond!! I would stay here again in a heartbeat. You can't beat the staff and the hotel is so beautiful also. And I felt they took the right precautions for Covid. Our family hasn't been going anywhere and only went to Galveston, because we had an outdoor wedding to attend. We were nervous, but I felt totally comfortable at The Tremont!!
The Tremont Hotel is beautiful in and of itself and the Rooftop Bar is it cozy little hideout that overlooks all of downtown Galveston. The sampler is a beautiful savory pallete with veggies, cheese and meat pairings and a fruit chutney. Suggest the elderflower cocktail as a good mimosa esque drink with it.
It was wonderful. The staff was lovely, the decor was beautiful. Just an all around great place to visit
VEEERY nice hotel. Expensive, but elegant. The high-ceiling rooms are clean and classy. The service is excellent. Nice location in downtown. We loved the rooftop bar at night!
Went for Jazz night and studying. Got a coffee and a booth. It was great!
Had a wonderful experience at this hotel. Customer service is excellent. Delightful rooms. Excellent food in the cafe. Loved the roof bar.. go and enjoy
First time to stay. King two room suite on second floor was very nice and comfortable. Great walking distance to restaurants. Shuttle service to sister property Hotel Galvez was extremely convenient for an evening stroll across to the sea wall and beach.
Location is in the heart of the historic Galveston. Rooms are spacious and classy with very comfy beds. Service is amazing! They even have transportation available if you need it.
Brought are pups and very high ceilings. Very historical looking building. Reminds me of new orlands.
Caleb the Valet there did an excellent job taking care of us in the middle of the night
The staff is very attentive, the hotel is beautiful with a rich history and interesting architecture, and the rooms are comfortable and clean. It's been a lively experience so far.
Great time here for my husband's birthday. Literally around the corner from the strand. Room was quaint and comfy. Bucket list hotel for sure.
Beautiful hotel lots of history. Great drinks on the rooftop bar!
Better than most, this place has really dropped in stature. Front desk staff confused. Cleanliness questionable. Service flagging. Been staying here for decades. Might be fine..
Wonderful staff, fantastic location and amazing accommodations!
My wife and I loved our stay. Just can't say enough positive about the hotel. Love jazz was lively and fun. Tasty desserts. Speedy checkin, clean room, valet was prompt. Room was clean, historic, and comfortable
I spent one night at this hotel for a company Christmas party. Hotel is nice and rooms are pretty good size. The ONLY reason I dont give a 5 star it's because of the Valet Parking. Before I arrived to the hotel my mother had giving me a Christmas card with $100 bill inside the card this was a present for my son. Anyway I parked at the front entrance gave my key and proceed to check in. I don't move my truck the rest of the day. Next morning around 10 am I requested my truck via text message, as I left the hotel and parked at Starbucks around the corner from The Tremont I remembered the envelope which I hid in the center console of my truck. To my surprise envelope was not there I looked around and nothing. Since truck had no broken windows or forced entry I decided to go back and speak with the front door person. As I explained the situation he walked around my truck and confirmed there was no forced entry. He took me inside and filled out a report to which he explained someone with the Valet parking would call me to follow up with the claim. 7 whole days have passed and nothing.
Yes I know I should've left money inside the truck, but it was inside a sealed envelope hidden. Someone with lots of time had to go through the truck and opened it. This was a Christmas present from an elderly woman to my son not cool at all. If you took the time to read this find a parking spot somewhere else dont trust the Valet company. To the Tremont Hotel Managment please you should consider looking into this. Not for the 100 dlls but for those employees who work for the valet company. I'm sure it's not the first time they do this.
Stop by there after lunch elsewhere for coffee. Beautiful architecture. Love to stay there in my next visit.
It was ok I did not like it I could hear the rooftop bar stomping there feet I also didn't like the money so expensive
Is fun being here, the clerks were polite and the had all I needed to buy
The staff were attentive, the roof top bar was enchanting, and what a great room. I loved the decor, the size of the room and the comfortable beds. The only things I didn't like was that there was no desk and there were a few maintenance issues such as torn draperies.
This place is so historical, friendly staff, cute rooms and the food is good!
