As with anything, it's how you feel and who you are with that will improve the experience.

The venue itself is historic and great. Music and bars are in need of improvement. Scored low as sound system failed for 15 minutes when last visited.

Went to a venue here a few weeks ago and it was a great night, the atmosphere was brilliant plus the bar staff worked very hard and could not be more helpful .... especially Kayleigh, she was very friendly and always served us with a smile, even though she was run off her feet.
Thank you for making our evening more enjoyable

A decent music venue. Drinks are severely over priced, but apparently that's what all the bars charge this close to London. I say 'seriously' because I actually live nearer to London that this venue and I pay less for a pint than they charge for a single measure of spirit.

Small venue but large bar proportionally. Reasonable range of alcohol on tap, but only one cask ale on and it's quality can vary in my experience. That said, I like to support my local live music venue, and I've seen some quality bands including Limehouse Lizzy, The Blockheads (both numerous times) Larry Miller and UK Subs amongst others. Always has a full diary of acts to go and see, whether original artists or tribute acts. Support your local venue I say, otherwise you'll lose it! Ample parking in the town, all of which is only a short walk away and free after 6:30pm. Thanks Hertford Corn Exchange for keeping music live in Hertford.

I have been to the Hertford Corn Exchange a couple of times with my music school and also with the Guitar club. As a venue for live music its pretty good - small enough to be intimate but it does have a proper large raised stage. Drinks seem okay and I found the bar staff to be more genuine and more friendly than most. The only weird one is their signs which suggest that if you are drinking you are not allowed away from the Bar Area...

We saw "The Specials" tribute band. They were brilliant and cannot fault them.

However, I do have a couple of issues with the venue. I think the men's and women's toilets could be better displayed rather than the small sign on the door that always seemed to be wide open, hence watching men wonder into the women's toilets.

Also, I noticed that the fire door to the upstairs hall was being propped open by a fire extinguisher.

I would go back if some other gig catches my eye. Hopefully these minor issues would be resolved for the health and safety of the customer and staff.
