This is a wonderful place to visit with larger pieces outdoors and an uplifting exhibition of Moore's drawings and sketches in the big barn (contemporary exhibition space) until 27 October 2019. Cafe in modern rooms, serves a range of quality food. Overall, It's a must!

This is a great place to visit. Make sure you visit his house and workshop. There is a small shop where you can buy a memento of your visit. There is a nice little cafe or alternatively, The Hoops pub is next door. Moore's grave is at the little church of St. Thomas' just down the road.

Two reviews in one.
Firstly the studios and gardens arr amazing. Everything is well maintained and the visitors centre is only a couple of years old and is well designed. The is a new gallery by the sheep field which architecturally is a bit barny so fits in with the local vernacular, nut inside is climate controlled with clean modern lines.
The gardens are spectacular, well maintained with lovely planted areas around Hoglands (Henry Moores house.) The gardens is where most of the sculptures are diaplayed and with the surrounding foliage and in natural sunlight they gleam and shiw of textures wirhin the catsings.
The cafe is amazing. We've been to the HMF many times and always stop for a drink and food. The cakes are fantastic and the bacon and Sausage Sandwiches make a fillg and tasty lunch.
Review 2 - Weddings
We love it so here so much we got Married here! The HMF has a license for 12 weddings a year in the aisled barn (which I forgot to mention above) which is a 17th century barn Henry Moore bought from a local farmer and had moved and modernised. It has climate control (a pre-requiset of mine for an August wedding!) and HM displayed tapestries he commisioned of his some of his pencil sketches. These give the hall a very unique feel for your wedding. We comfortably seated 90 in the barn for the service and the wedding breakfast, although you'll want to hire a shelter in case of inclement weather as you need to vavate the barn during switches between service/dinner/evening do. We took Jules (the lovely lady who organises the events with tje equallu lovely Sarah) advice and hire a giant hat Tipi, these look amazing and so much better than a traditional marquee. If you have more than 90-100 guests you'll probably be better hiring 2+ tipis and eating outside. HMF make sure that everything runs smoothly and are there for the entire day keeping everything on track.
You can pretty much personalise eveything as the HMF isn't a wedding venue all the time they have no chairs and tables and hire them in for you, so you can have what you want. We had the best day here for our wedding and our guests loved the venue, even of the weather had turned we had shelter and good views.

Sophie our guide in the archives was absolutely amazing, inciteful and no script. The layout and ambience wonderful. The tapestries were a sight to behold, the only let down was the food and service in the eating area, slow and expensive.

Lots of information, beautiful art, nice tour through Moores former house. We had a nice day out. Little bit expensive though and unreachable by public transport so if you don't have a car you'd have to go by taxi.

A hidden gem and sadly not open after October until the spring. It is very hard to find down narrow country lanes with no sign posts and no 4G. However well worth it. Huge grounds with very impressive statues workshops galleries and also Henry Moore's house. Very knowledgeable staff on hand. Very new well equipped visitor centre with cafe foe light bites and drinks.

Fantastic day out with a wealth of well presented information about Moore's life and obviously his art. Everything about the visit was great but the cafe was lacking for those with food intolerances which isn't so good if the only nearby pub is booked out.

Very inspiring place, perfect visit during a sunny day. The foundation gives an overview of Moore works and life. There's a nice cafe in the foundation but also a good pub next door.
The place is not easy to reach if one is without car.

Brilliant! You need a sunny day to tour the grounds at their best, but the indoor exhibitions are good too. Very modern facilities. Great place to just "be" in the gardens. Good sense of how/where he created his works too, so one up on a standard art collection.

Excellent day spent here. House well worth a look but tread carefully in overshoes-required wearing but oversized - my only critism of an otherwise perfect day. My sister who studied Moore for A level Art had waited 21 years to visit and said she wasn't disappointed. All good. Tastefully stocked gift shop and cafe. Friendly and helpful staff.

Beautiful surroundings frame the sculpted abstract...

Beautiful surroundings frame the sculpted abstract - representational forms of Henry Moore's artwork to great effect. This is a gallery on an acreage scale, and partly populated by the sheep the artist found inspirational. The size of the largest sculptures, and their material, lend themselves to being truly encompassed only in the outdoors. You are encouraged to touch, but not clamber on, the art, and there is one picnic area dominated by a large sculpture children play around. A really enjoyable visit and pleasant way to pass a few hours. Two observations or perhaps warnings for children or large parties. The first is the entrance fee, which is rather high for what is a walk through a decorated park with some static, of very informative, displays. The second is the cost of refreshments, which is very high. Bring your own food and especially drink.

About The Henry Moore Foundation

The Henry Moore Foundation is a UK-based charity that was founded by the renowned 20th-century sculptor, Henry Moore. The foundation has two art venues, one in Leeds and the other in Hertfordshire. It also boasts extensive artwork and archive collections, as well as an active grants programme. The primary aim of the foundation is to promote visual arts and sculpture both within the UK and internationally.

The foundation's headquarters are located at Perry Green in Hertfordshire, where visitors can explore Henry Moore's former home and studio. The site also features a sculpture garden that showcases some of his most famous works, including "Reclining Figure" and "King and Queen". In addition to this, there is a gallery space that hosts temporary exhibitions throughout the year.

The second venue operated by the foundation is located in Leeds. Known as 'Henry Moore Institute', it is situated next to Leeds Art Gallery in the city centre. This venue focuses on research into sculpture from around the world since ancient times up until contemporary art practices.

One of the key aspects of The Henry Moore Foundation's work is its grants programme which provides funding for artists working with sculpture or other forms of visual arts. This programme aims to support emerging artists who may not have access to traditional funding sources or who are working on projects that are experimental or challenging.

In addition to supporting individual artists through its grants programme, The Henry Moore Foundation also supports institutions such as museums and galleries through its partnerships scheme. This scheme provides funding for exhibitions or other projects related to sculpture or visual arts.

Another important aspect of The Henry Moore Foundation's work is its extensive archive collection which includes photographs, letters, sketches and other documents relating to Henry Moore's life and work. These archives provide valuable insights into his creative process as well as his personal life.

Overall, The Henry Moore Foundation plays an important role in promoting visual arts both within the UK and internationally through its various activities such as exhibitions at their venues (Perry Green & Leeds), grant programmes for emerging artists & institutions like museums/galleries etc., archival collections containing valuable information about 20th-century sculptor -Henry More’s life & works etc.. With their focus on supporting emerging talent while preserving historical records related specifically towards sculptures; they continue making significant contributions towards shaping future generations' understanding & appreciation towards this form of artistry!
