Very professional and knowledgeable. Great rate. Highly recommend. Now a year after my first glowing review. My premium more than doubled with no incidents reported by me. When I queried as to why the policy price increased so drastically, I was told that they suffered great losses in the previous year. SO WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ME? NO ACCIDENTS OR CLAIMS AND MY PREMIUM MORE THAN DOUBLED! A simple solution was to go with GEICO or Progressive Insurance Companies. For 25% the cost.

Outstanding experience, and a huge save from our current insurance company for the EXACT same policy, originally we were going to just do our cars, we ended up doing home owners as well. The agent worked with us on the phone and was extremely knowledgable and could not do enough for us. Thank you Hartford!!!!

When I opened my small business I needed a commercial liability policy. And because of the remodel I had planned, I needed two supplemental policies: Vacant Building and Builder's Risk. The Hartford was a bit pricey, but I thought it was acceptable due to the two mandatory supplemental policies that were added on. One year later, I needed to renew the policy but this time without the two supplements - the remodel was completed (no need for Builder's Risk) and we were open 7-days a week (no need for Vacant Building). BUT the annual premium I was quoted by The Hartford to renew coverage even WITHOUT the two supplemental policies was about the same as the previous year WITH the two supplements. Too high, I thought, and went with a different insurer. The Hartford says my verbal notification by phone doesn't count. Cancellation has to be in writing. Now The Hartford is hounding me to pay for those additional months of premiums - even though I've been covered by a different (less expensive) insurer.
Also, does it seem strange to anyone else that most of these Google reviews are from employees of The Hartford and are related to working there?

I signed up for care insurance over the phone, had a great experience with the person who provided all the information. She was patient, answered all my questions, reviewed all the information 150% so I could be sure of all the details. The rate was the lowest I could find. I moved to FLA and my current insurance would not transfer or write the policy in FLA. They sign up process is easy, efficient and their website is user friendly and provides all the information online.

I was shopping for new insurance coverage because I wasn't pleased
with the rising rates in spite of a good driving record. I was amazed
to get all the information with one phone call. The agent gave me very
complete information so my problem was solved
with that one call. I'm satisfied with the quoted rate and transferred
my coverage to The Hartford for my auto and property insurance
needs. This was a very satisfying experience.

At this point they are a 5. I switched from State Farm Auto Insurance and saved over $500 annually. I was able to create my policy to match what I had for the past 30 years and was amazed at how much cheaper The Hartford is. I did have to contact customer service over my error in not printing the form to discontinue my current insurance and it was painless! I called, didn't have to wait but a minute and the rep took care of me instantly.

Just started with the Hartford. But so far I'm happy. The quote process was fairly easy, and I saved a lot of money which I was grateful for. But I do wish they could figure out a way to accept 11 digit VIN numbers of older vehicles. I wasn't able to complete the online quote, and the poor guy I spoke to on the phone had a hard time too. But he was very friendly, courteous, and helped to answer my questions, and get me insured. I would recommend The Hartford to anyone.

I work at a body shop and had to deal with The Hartford Ins. Co because one of their policy holders rear ended one of my customers! Two months later we still have not received payment and their excuse is," we have not heard back from our policy holder" even tho the police report shows that an unlicensed driver rear ended my customers vehicle.... and good luck getting a return phone call from these people, if they don't want to call you back they simply wont.... I'm glad they're paying managers in the claim department to follow up on their employees!

in other words The Hartford Ins. Co lets unlicensed drivers drive under someones policy without any consequences what so ever. and if you get into an accident just don't call them back. NO BIG DEAL!

I will be submitting my complaint to the Better Business Bureau and FTC if this issue isnt resolved soon!!!

My girlfriend owned a store in albion ny that had cought fire this insurance company dragged not only her but dragged the both of us through the legal systms costing her and i thousands and thousands... We were both found not guilty of the crimes they alleged.... Still its three years later and they still wont pay her her claim even though its not alot of money... Is this the kind of company you want to put your faith and trust in too????? This company is a complete scam and will take you to the cleaners then feed you to the wolfs with no mercy!!!! Still have lawers to this day battleing these scammers!!!!

Process of getting a quote was quite easy and handled by a single point of contact for both home and auto. I was able to increase my home coverage and still save some money. They were friendly and professional. After I had already accepted my new coverage I still got a quote e-mail a couple days later which I shouldn't have. A minor glitch. Overall, the sign-up process for the AARP policies went very well.

My traditionally low auto insurance co. raised my rates recently to what I felt was a ridiculous level, with little reason. I had been with them for many years, but I decided to shop elsewhere. Luckily, someone recommended The Hartford. As an AARP member, they were able to significantly beat the other rates, for the identical coverage. The Hartford agent was excellent in helping me to understand the different insurance criteria. I really appreciated their guidance and am currently very happy with my decision to switch.

As a workplace it is one of the best that I have seen. The campus is quite big and neat with lots of greens. The older buildings are more historical than the newer ones. The parking is more than enough to cover all the employees. The cafeteria sections are top class and all the employees are friendly.

I don't personally use Hartford, but my vehicle was struck by a person who was covered by them. They helped me out significantly by providing a rental car, and ultimately giving me settlement money once they deemed by vehicle totaled. An unfortunate event, but they helped the process go smoothly and answered every phone call.

Only been with Hartford a short time. Reps have answered questions very quickly and have been very knowledgeable.
My only complaint is their drive monitoring service. They use a company called TrueLane which I don't think is part of the Hartford itself.
We signed up for the service and in just over a month this is what we found:

Doing the speed limit of 75 MPH created an event, some 86 times in a 40 mile section of road. This is an event?
In on instance on my wife's phone it showed her making a 3 mile trip that she did not take, She didn't even leave the house that day!
In 10% of the trips I made, the system did not even record the trip. On my wife's phone that was true about 35% of the time. Very in accurate!
Then a few days later, the system showed me as doing 91 MPH when I know I was not over 65 MPH.

I called the company and complained about the service and removed our phones from the service. I had to pay additional monies to Hartford but I refused to be judged on out and out lies.
And TureLane tech support? All they apparently know how to do it have you delete the app from your phone and reload it. It did not help a bit.

Quite possibly the worst experience I have ever had with an insurance company. I was in a car accident with one of their motorist and after waiting a week for them to call me about getting my truck fixed they on wanted to cover what they thought was suitable. Then they send me a check with my name and address on it and as soon as I put it in the bank they snatch it away and make my account go negative. I call to ask why they did this and said oh it was sent by mistake, you'll have to deal with your short coming with the bank. I hate how they think nothing is their fault and they can't do no wrong. This is why people hate insurance companies. Nothing but money hungry thrives that are only out for themselves. And this insurance (The Hartford) is no different, they are the worst!

Like Bilbo (below) I thought I was paying too much for Car Insurance. Our rates had jumped 30-40% in the last two years. So I started shopping, beginning with Consumer Reports evaluation of companies. The Hartford not only had a 12 month (as compared to the 6 I used to get with my old company) and the rate for our three vehicles was several hundred dollars than I would have been paying had I not changed to Hartford. And working with the company's people online has been pleasant. They all speak American English!. I would Recommend The Hartford to anyone who would like a Great Company, With significantly better rates!

I only interact with this company because they have a partnership with my employer. If I had a choice, then I would absolutely not use The Hartford. I've been trying to sign my open enrollment documents for a month. Their website is something out of the early 1990's. Nothing works. I've called in multiple times. I'm always getting put on hold. No one knows anything. My case is always referred to IT. I get a call saying everything is fixed. I log back in, and it is the same problems. This has been going on for a month. Seriously people? Take your job seriously. You are the worst.

My company uses The Hartford for their disability insurance. This company uses delay and deny tactics. They do not honor their claims. I had to get my doctors information notarized and get the fax receipts notarized for them to admit that they even received the. Dealing with them as been an absolute nightmare. They will lie, and minimize your condition. They lie about faxing your doctor documentation and they lie about having received it. They omit information from their reports. They operate in Bad Faith. They prey on people who are sick and ill and are least able to fight. Worst insurance company I ever dealt with.

I tried to get a quote online. It was a terrific headache just to get a quote. I got several error messages, and instructions to phone them instead. If I wanted to waste time on the phone, I would not be doing this online, folks. I tried again on two other days until I finally was successful getting a quote. I decided to buy online, but when I clicked the final "submit payment" button, I got another error message, telling me to phone them. This time I had no choice. I found out that my purchase of home insurance had gone thru, but not my auto insurance. They had somehow "lost" all my auto info. How is that even possible when I bought both at the same time? What a joke. But I was already stuck with them. I had to go thru the entire questionnaire again over the phone from scratch. What a hassle and a big waste of time. On top of everything else, I can't sign or print anything online, so it all has to be done by mail. They made the process just about as inconvenient and problematic as possible. Next year I am definitely going to shop around again to see if I can find someone else.

Upon researching other companies I felt the flexibility to choose more exactly what coverage amounts were much more apparent with The Hartford. The cost even surprised me in that it was almost $40 less per month than I had previously paid. Flexibility, savings and coverage, yeah I'll take that.

Between a 24 hour period, I spoke to at least 4 customer service representatives-- some briefly and others lengthy, and what a wonderful experience it was. I felt like they were my friends! Time is money, but I was never rushed or dismissed as they were so patient with my many questions, relating to 2 new policies that I was purchasing. I also appreciate that I spoke to individuals here in the US and not overseas. We all were on the same page and THANK YOU THE HARTFORD! As a former corporate recruiter, you do have the best and the brightest representing your company! Keep up the good work!!!

What horrible service!! My husband got in an accident about two months ago and we are still fighting with the insurance company. Even though the car and the insurance policy are in both our names, I was told by a very rude "Kim" that she would not talk about the claim with me, only my husband. When this is over and the policy is up for renewal I will go someplace else!!

I traded a 2011 subaru for a 2014 subaru {I also have a 2004 subaru} The car dealer gave the hartford the info .....to add the new car and take the 2011 off the policy....but they instead took the 2004 one off the policy! I got a letter from Motor Vechikle that I was driving an uninsured car.....I called the Hartford and they said they would update the info to MVD....well....3 mo. later I was stopped and told I was driving an uninsured motor vechicle and I have 2 pts. against my license....I'm still trying to straighten this out....and we bought the car in Dec. 2013!

I would rather go out of business than use The Har...

I would rather go out of business than use The Hartford for insurance. With a CEO making upwards of $4 Million a year and over $7.5 Million in Stock options in 2012, they feel they are to big to talk to small business vertical clients on a realistic level. After 2 years and tens of thousands of dollars in workers comp. with NO loss runs, they were unable to comply with an increase in insurance coverage that our company needed and then billed us an additional $1,800 for canceling because we were forced to switch companies. With a company that has experienced over 60% growth for 4 years in a row, I certainly will not be doing business with them in the future. Very bad business decision on their part in my opinion.
