The dinner tour was amazing! The food was plentiful and spectacular. The stout was very good, as well as all the other drinks. The night was clear and all the stars were out for the lantern lit stroll back. Book well ahead, because this is not to be missed.

Cosy, welcoming and warm.

Cosy, welcoming and warm.

The beer only comes in halves though, hobbits have yet to figure the whole pints thing out!

Since I was a kid I watched the lord of the rings and once I got to the hobbiton movie set I learned a lot more than I expected so I highly recommend going there at least once it's worth it.

We went as part of the Hobbiton Movie Set Tour which comes with a complimentary drink! I'm pretty sure you have to do the guided tour or YOU SHALL NOT PASS to get into the inn. Anyway, there were 4 different types of drinks we could order (3 alcoholic, 1 non-alcoholic). We got the cider which was swell! There were some snacks too, but nothing substantial.

The space was pretty cool too! Definitely looks like the Green Dragon Inn in the movies. The lake is also right outside so you can sit outside to drink your beer!

Nice place to visit if you are Lord of the rings or Hobbiton fan.
Pick ups from Rotorua are also available.
If you are planning to board from Rotorua
My advice will be to book it as early as possible

The ending of the tour, a good way to relax, have a beer and enjoy the interior of this hotel. Right on the lake front. Can only be accessible by going on the tour which itself is worth it, if you love lord of the rings, or want a different movie experience.

Great beer, great location and some nice food served too. Toilets are available inside and a free drink is available on entry ! When doing the tour of hobbiton you will get 30 minutes here at the end of the set tour to chill out here, have a drink and take in the view of hobbiton across the lake.

Highly recommend this place. Great craftsmanship can be seen from inside the pub. With bespoke real ales and cider produced locally. Could quite easily spend a good few hours here in front of the big log fire!

It is wonderful to live the experience of knowing this village of Hobbits. Many details in each place, make everything magical. The tour takes 2 hours and is very busy therefore it must be scheduled in time.

A very realistic medieval inn. The dark ale was quite nice and the buffet lunch experience was awesome. It is served inside a pavilion style tent with lanterns and flowers, where the old style theme is extended. The detail that goes into the design of the inn decor is well appreciated. Lunch: Lots of veggies and meals to choose from. Gluten free bread and desserts would have been appreciated.

The Hobbiton Evening Banquet was absolutely amazing! The spread of baked chicken, grilled sausages, lamb and beef, and the variety of vegetables made the entire Hobbiton experience unique. The custom brew of beers and cider were truly the cherry on top of the whole meal. Not to mention the level of detail taken to bring the Green Dragon to life....it's just astonishing!

Had a good tour but thought the staff should be in costume in the Green Dragon. SHIRES rest should sell alcohol & for such a tourist destination it seem strange that the shop should be short on sizes in the Tshirts but I had a good time the staff were very friendly and helpful.

When you enter the bar, you will feel like in the movie. They serve you free beer or apple cidar. The staff are very friendly. You can also buy some snacks such as bagels, sandwichs, and pie. they also lend you umbrella when it is raining.

A definite must see if you're travelling this way. Great guide throughout the tour. Was keen to go for the dinner but booked out - make sure you book months in advance. The craft beers at the end of the tour was a great way to end the tour.
