Even if you aren't really into hobbits, this place is cool to see. Speaks to the kid in all of us and the tour ends with a beer to ease you back into reality. Princess Jasmine is the greatest tour guide of all time. She cinched the whole experience into perfection.

Absolutely magical place in the old style, with live fire, beer kegs, wooden tables and round windows. It's really like in the movies and it's a perfect ending to the hobbit. Good own brewed stout! Would have been incredibly happy to come back to such a bar. Really wonderful atmosphere, like a jump back in time and into another world!

My partner and I did the Evening Banquet Tour of Hobbiton which concluded in a huge banquet style dinner, served in The Green Dragon.
It was absolutely amazing.
After the first tour of Hobbiton just before dusk, our guide Will led our group to The Green Dragon and we all had a free drink choice of either Ale, Cider or Ginger Beer and there was an open fire nearby.
Then after around 20 mins, we were led into the banquet room which was laden with the most delicious food, laid out on banquet tables, decorated with fresh produce grown in the Hobbiton gardens.
There were roast meat joints, roasted veges, soups, casseroles, salads and baked stuffed pumpkins.
Dessert was amazing too. Pavlova with fresh fruit, baked tarts and honey yoghurt.
After dinner our guide Will then took us on a night tour of Hobbiton and the lakefront where all the Hobbit holes were lit up by lanterns. It was beautiful.
Will was really friendly, informative and funny and all the staff elsewhere at the Shires Rest were just as welcoming.
I'd highly recommend this tour, it's a little more pricey than the daytime tour of Hobbiton; however you get an enormous free feed plus the opportunity to see Hobbiton in the daylight hours, then again lit up by night.
A truly magical evening.

A fun little place to stop and have a beer at the end of the Hobbiton tour where you get to enjoy a complimentary ale as part of the deal. The Inn was quite crowded with other tourists but that was all part of the fun of it. The scenery around the Inn is stunning and there was plenty of seating outside the Green Dragon where you can sit down and enjoy these views. I have not seen any of the LOTR or The Hobbit movies but enjoyed this tour all the same and all that went with it.

The kids Apple cider was amazing, best cider I have ever tried, got one for my son but it is carbonated and he does not drink carbonated drinks. They also offered a light beer and a stout. I got the stout and it was great, smooth and not bitter (see picture)

Great beer (had stout) and kids thought best ginger beer on the island. Excellent attention to detail.

This is not really the best part of the Hobbitton visit. The rest of the set is more picturesque, and this part has clearly been done up for the tourists.
That said, they give you beer, and that's always fun. Pies are okay, as is the beer, but it's nothing outstanding. By and by, it's a pretty quaint little place.
An additional downside is that you don't get to spend much time here... We only got 25 minutes all said :(
