Very good location and if the room is facing the Lake, it only gets better! Rooms are spacious and clean, very modern and well maintained. Staff is warm and welcoming. Breakfast is alright, nothing too fancy.

Due to our flight cancellation, we had an impromptu stay-over here at Virgin s cost.
Room was clean, comfortable and well equipped.
Tired from a day of waiting around - we decided to eat in the hotel restaurant. Whilst the food was pleasant enough, the waiter was outstanding. Indula was friendly, attentive and completely professional. Despite being under the pump, he worked extremely hard to manage the influx of unexpected passengers and was an absolute asset to the hotel chain.

Upon arrival was informed they overbooked and they reserved us a room at Heartland Hotel in Queenstown and included breakfast. First, we booked outside of Queenstown for a reason (less traffic and we weren't planning to spend time on the city yet). Second, Heartland is a 3-star hotel really than an equivalent 4-star hotel. Third, or "mountain view" room is actually on the hiring level looking out at the entrance to the hotel lobby (see photo). A complimentary breakfast is not an upgrade that makes up for such an inconvenience and being stuck with a lesser hotel with lesser accommodations. Next time, Holiday Inn, ask me first before making up my mind for me...

The room itself was very nice. However, three things need attention. 1. Wifi. Strong signal everywhere but too much interference for a reliable connection. 2. Water pressure in the shower. You'd get more pressure out of a garden watering can. 3. The bathroom overall. It has a window into the bedroom. I appreciate natural light but in the middle of the night this isn't a good thing. There was also no shelf for soap or shampoo.

Loved this hotel at first sight. Staff were super friendly, they always did their best to help you. Room was nice and tidy, thank you for the room service. Amazing bathtub but spa pools were just so-so, there were lots of cracks on the pool's paint. Otherwise the others were super great, nice view of the lake, nice atmosphere, nice breakfast, makes me want to go back.

Stayed here for 3 nights at the beggining on July. We had booked the "Lakeview Superior Room" with breakfast included (600 block ground floor). Let's start with the checkin. The process was very efficient and we were met with a couple of lovely smiles at the front desk.

There's plenty of parking for available which is all within a relatively short walk of your room. The room was relatively modern with the usual amenities you'd expect. The slippers were a good touch considering the bathroom is tiled but there isn't underfloor heating. Note there are no bathrobes.

Good sized flat screen TV with a few channels but limited to local TV and only one Sky Sport and Movie channel each. The king bed was comfortable and with the options of both firm and soft pillows was a great added touch. Great view from our room as well. Note the pictures were taken from the restaurant but are essentially similar to the room view.

We ordered room service on a couple of different n im nights. The food was a little hit and miss overall pretty decent. Would recommend the Thai Green Curry and the Butter Chicken. Breakfast was what you'd really expect from a chain hotel with the usual choices of Breads, Pastries, Cereals, Fresh Fruits, Yogurts, Cold Cuts etc.

The hot food selection was again what you'd expect; Bacon, Eggs, Sausages, Hash Browns etc. I must add that everything was very fresh and replenished quickly once it ran out. Wait staff were absolutely superb and attentive. Probably some of the best around.

Only two things that were a let down and probably cost them a 5 star review were the following:

1) Room service menu pricing hasn't been updated. When we ordered the Rabbit Ranch Pinot Noir I was surprised to learn that the price had jumped from $40 a bottle to $55. Was told that it was the old menu. Not sure why it wasn't updated.

2) The room service tray was left outside the room on the Friday morning around 9.20am and wasn't cleared until Saturday afternoon.

Overall would recommend staying here and definitely go for the Lakeview Rooms.
