This cafe has awesome baked goods and an eclectic menu. It also has 3 venues to dine in: a quaint dining room, a coffeehouse and spacious sidewalk dining area set in a large triangular area.

We stopped in for Saturday breakfast and were impressed. Coffee was fresh and delicious, the huevos rancheros was a skillet full of breakfast heaven, and the egg and avocado sandwich was just right.

Definitely a good place to grab food in the neighborhood. I felt bad assigning a number for the decor since I've only eaten outside, but I'd say it felt pretty cozy. It's more of a breakfast/lunch with friends kind of venue.

The Gold Standard is honestly anything but. I used to love coming to this place . . . The food and the service are now both subpar. Today, after trying to ignore the first hair I found in my food, the third one left me with a pit in my stomach and I just wanted to leave. But how can you do that if your waiter never checks in on you. Seriously not worth the wait anymore.

I come here all the time and the food is always consistently amazing and the staff are the hardest working crew I ve ever seen, and I ve been a chef for more than 10 years. I m always in awe at them for handling the service so well with being so busy. I wish my restaurant ran as efficiently as theirs. Five stars and I recommend this place to everyone I know. Great vegan and vegetarian options as well as healthy meat dishes. Coffee is also great!

When I lived in West Philly, I stopped here quite a bit, especially since I caught the trolley right outside of it. SO. GOOD. I love the wraps, and the breakfast/brunch here does not mess around. They make a great chai, and the chocolate bomb cupcakes are amazing. I need to go back!

Great food. Just be advised that most likely a Millennial will be your server. So get used to their sensibilities and their view of table customer service. I say this to say that it's not the traditional form of customer service.

This is one of my absolute favorite places to go for breakfast/lunch! They have so many vegetarian and vegan options and the food is delicious. Prices are on point for portion size and the vibes in the restaurant are comfy and chill. Definitely worth checking out.

The cafe is a dine-in options for the full dining experience. I was only there for cold matcha tea, which is rare enough, but my SO seems to come here for coffee as well. Like the vibe, wish I had more money to waste'em here often.

When I am in Philadelphia, this is my go to breakfast and lunch spot. They have an excellent organic menu with a ton of choices for all typea of eaters. If you are vegan, vegetarian, pescatrian, meatatarian, or even gluten free this is the place for you. The staff is great and the atmosphere is eclectic and welcoming. You feel like you are sitting at the table at someone's home. I just love this place and with there was one where I live. You cannot go wrong with the breakfast tofu scramble, turkey burger, fries or one of the daily quiche specials that is served with a fresh salad.

Good coffee, awesome fresh beet juice (blended with other good things like lemons and I-can t-remember-what, and some very good brunch specials! Plus, it s in my old hood and it s nice to revisit home sometimes.

Food is good but I ask the chef about sugar free syrup & he loudly said NO! So I can never order pancakes & waffles. Tired of eating quiche & potatoes. I really don't care for fried eggs. I want to try other items on the menu. Consider the syrup

Guy threw a fit about me being 4 cents short. Food took way too long to make. I waited 10 minutes for my coffee and 30 additional for my food to be made. My sandwich was a build you own sandwich style which was not how it was advertised. Honestly this is the worst coffee shop experience I ve had in a number of years. And I ve traveled the world. I m so underwhelmed by this experience and I think that if you re going to gentrify a historically black neighborhood then you better have at the very least decent service. I ll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. I should also mention that a number of customers who ordered after me were served first which makes raise and eyebrow to the whole situation.
Also you can see from the owners comment below they are not concerned with fixing any of the aforementioned problems. The owner of a business see it fit to criticize me a paying customer because his service was subpar. Also I should mention that I am not the only one who raised these same concerns and reached the same conclusions. Clearly I the paying customer am not in the wrong but the owner who is racist is running a terrible business.

I go to Gold Standard several times per month and this is my consistent experience: Sit-down service is *EXTREMELY* slow, and not because the staff isn't trying, but because they are understaffed - especially if you sit outside. Our server is always running around and trying hard, but can't keep up. Last week, lunch took 2 hours for an iced coffee and 2 entrees.

Counter service for coffee drinks is much faster, unless there is a line. The coffee is pretty good, and so are the pastries and cakes. A breakfast sandwich to-go is your best bet.

The food is OK and overpriced for what you get. My last BLT + avocado had brown avocado. My wife had the shrimp salad for $9: 3 shrimp over grilled cauliflower, carrot, and zucchini - not what we were expecting for a salad.

I typically only write positive reviews unless I have repeat bad experiences. I will never do a sit-down meal at Gold Standard again. Service is TOO SLOW.

Try Fu-Wah for a roast pork or tofu banh mi or Hibiscus for a fish wrap.

Gold Standard was owned for years by an older gay couple who ran the place with an iron fist. In mid/late 2015 it was taken over by new owners who have turned it to crap. The food has gone downhill so much that I refuse to eat there anymore. Now it's only good for grabbing a quick coffee on the go.

This place is nice but my only is the service. I m guessing the Sunday I came they were extremely busy. I had to wait about 40 mins to be seated with a friend. But the worst is when me and my friend were seated. They had about 6 tables in which no one had their food. So we had to wait an additional 35 mins until we got our food. We didn t get a sorry we are busy or anything just here your food. My friend felt sick because she have no eaten for hours and to wait so long made it worst. Food was delicious but fix the service please.

TLDR: just do Cedar Park Cafe a block away instead.

Last three times I tried to order from Gold Standard I couldn t even get an order in. A few weeks ago I tried calling in an order and I could hear them but they couldn t hear me for several tries in a row. A few days ago I showed up 20 minutes before the closing time listed here but turns out they stop taking orders 30 mins before closing. And a just few minutes ago this morning, I was put on hold three times in a row, and after they hung up on me the first two times, they did come back the third time but AGAIN they couldn t hear me to take an order, even though I could hear them.

Always seems to be a waste of my time to even try this place despite the food being good when you can luck into an order.

This place has three settings, a back room for a group setting, and community area to be on a laptop or read a book in front of thee large picture windows, and a great out door seating area that is surrounded by beautiful buildings. The coffee is pretty good and the bagels (when they actually have the one you want) are taste. The staff is friendly and service is quick.

What a great place! Their style is friendly, comfy and casual and the food is great: many vegan selections, homemade sauce and juice etc. Pancakes are so fluffy and a must have. The wait time is a bit long but def worth it!!

I am super disappointed. I spent just about $10 - about $5 on a Matcha Latte that was the most disappointing latte I ve ever ordered, tasted like boiling water. $5 on an egg breakfast sandwich on wheat bread, the bread wasn t even cut nor was it toasted, I ended up throwing the sandwich away. This cafe is on my way to work so I thought I d stop in and have a new go-to place but I am so disappointed that I will not be returning, unfortunately.
