Venue was beautiful and set up very well. Our photo booth was setup on stage so people felt shy to go on stage to take photos, but it was a nice touch. The food was mediocre. Risotto was crunchy. Not sure if we booked the DJ, but he stopped between each song and changed right away. He took requests, but his choice wasn't good. The coat check people we really nice: despite me losing my ticket, I showed proof of me having it and they were very understanding.

As it was my first time in this restaurant, I came in, took my seat and ordered the corn fritters. They were quite good, however slightly sinewy. Due to an unpleasant atmosphere, I simply paid the bill and left. I appologize to the staff because they were very kind to me. However, I was made to feel unwelcome by the guests. So I paid and left. Thank you for a good evening. :)
Building was restored, food was okay. The rooms are WAY overpriced.....$300 for a tiny space, a shower you can barely turn around in and a spectacular view of the local Fresh Co. grocery store. I ve stayed in better accommodations at the Holiday Inn for half the cost.
Went for a gallery exhibitions. Wonderful space and great prices for drinks. Server took a menu right out of my hand at one point though. Other than that service was good.
I love the Gladstone. Super chill place to grab a coffee, meet for brunch OR karaoke to the high heavens and party all night: you pick! The staff members are beautiful, kind hearted people who are super friendly and make you feel at home :)
This review is for Friday night karaoke at the Gladstone. These two stars are for the service, the waiter was attentive and grabbed our party a bigger table when we needed it. As for the karaoke, the reason why we came, I have never experienced such a terrible excuse for a host in all my years of doing karaoke as a hobby. In the 3 hours we were there, I put up a total of 5 songs only to be told over 20 minutes after putting up the previous one that he didn't have the song file due to a computer error - pick another one and he would definitely put me up next. Let me be clear, these were selections from his song book. It seemed like this mysterious computer error left half his library unusable - or at least his rock music selection - and he never bothered to fix this during the week. Rather than help me find a working song file on the spot, after multiple failed requests, he just left me to wait it out and only offered to have everything fixed for next week if I decide to come in. Unacceptable and of course not. Never coming here again.
We just tried brunch here and the food was good, there aren't as many options as some places and it gets very busy and then the servers seem quite frazzled.
Vegan option on the brunch menu (the hash) was disappointing, menu says they can make some dishes vegan but all this meant was eliminating the egg from one of the dishes and replacing it with tomato.
Great venue. I enjoy the restaurant and cafe as well. It's accessible and way more inclusive than The Drake. It's okay to walk around the Gladstone and check out the art exhibits and not feel like you're getting vetted every time you walk through the door (sorry drake, not sorry).
I've attended shows here before but I stayed in the hotel for the first time. The room was lovely, with an amazing view and the staff was kind and helpful. I don't stay in a lot of hotels and I was weirdly disappointed that there were no fluffy bathrobes provided. If I have the opportunity to stay here again I'll bring my own.
Unique hotel and always great service. Close to lots of great shops and restaurants. Streetcar stop right outside, very convenient. If only it comes with that chocolate.
Very clean and comfortable quiet and close to lots of bars and restaurants. Would definitely stay here again friendly staff and cool artwork in the rooms as well as around the hotel
I ate dinner there and the food was disappointing. The tacos were not served hot enough, the portion of the kale and quinoa salad was too big, the fish was too small a portion, and also undercooked. Service was also lacking. The food took forever and the server did not stop by the table very often.
I love going to the Gladstone for events. The last event I went to was Intro to DJing. It was so amazing! I mostly attend video dance parties there. 80s, 90s, 00s, sometimes a versus between two decades. So much fun.
Fantastic place for locals and for travellers. I was greeted by a friendly young lady at the front named Sam who was knowledgeable and extremely helpful and helped make my stay there positive
There are mice. The wine is about $16 dollars a glass. When I pointed out the mice (to 3 separate staff members) they each said that it was a 'very old building' & offered zero apologies. They assured us that there were traps under every table...
Beautiful building, amazing cocktails, filled with art installations, and the themed rooms are very well done. Friendly and helpful staff, I hope I get to stay here again!
We went as a group for the Friday night Karaoke. Bar is spacious and there is a raised seating area at the back with couches so you can spread out. Bar and wait staff were lots of fun. A great time had by all.
Went inside to check it out for an assignment. The assignment didn't me require to go in this hotel but I went in anyways because its a landmark of Toronto and is the oldest operating hotel in Toronto. There is 5 floors in the hotel and I think floors 3-5 have rooms. I never actually bought a room here so I can't critique this place fully. Finally, there's a really cool old school elevator and galleries to check out for free in the hotel.
I attended an 80s video dance party in the ballroom then did some karaoke in the melody bar. The staff were friendly and welcoming. Restrooms were clean. And the draft beer was cold and tasted fresh.
I've only attended the event held there, called the GrowOp art exhibit. However, it seems that Gladstone Hotel is maintaining its historical aspect since old hardwood flooring and walls are evident throughout the entire facility. An interesting choice of aesthetic, would love to see a more updated look though.
Went to Gladstone for a pride event. We first wanted to get a drink before the event. We sat at the table first then some other people sat next to us after we sat down and settled. The server came to the people next to us got served first.. I had a thought that maybe because we are asian and they were not...? Or maybe I'm just very sensitive to all this and they were just assigned to different area of tables. But we were so close that we had to move our table for other people to go in and out of their seat. However, It could've been an honest mistake but as a server, wouldn't they be aware who comes in when so they don't make these mistakes? We had a different server come to us after the table next to us placed an order.. Anyhow, I like Gladstone hotel and I want to believe that it was an honest mistake.
I attended the inaugural Brave event in Toronto on Monday, October 15. The receptionist/host near the door was helpful. The venue and event room was inviting, bright, had a fun vibe and a good temperature. The bar tender was helpful in giving alcohol bor mixing non-alcoholic drinks, as requested by myself and a lady after me. The servers were friendly and the appetizers good, except for the chicken skewer passed around at the end of the evening, which was dried up and tough by then. Other than this final point, all was great.
Room a bit on the smaller side, but nicely decorated. Staff are nice and welcoming. Room comes with complementary cocktail though I didn't use. Historical building put into good use.
We just had lunch in the restaurant but it was very good. The Club sandwich was awesome. Their variety of local craft beers was also very welcome and the classic turn of the century decor and elevator made this an amazing experience.
Beautiful venue for a wedding. The couple had done a brunch wedding and they had an area that was used for the ceremony then after the guests went upstairs it was re-arranged into the dining area. Plenty of space for guests to disperse.
