One of two restaurants in the Renaissance St. Pancras hotel (try them both). Historic atmosphere, creative menu, attentive service. Reservations recommended. Recommend the beet salad (see pictures).

Had lunch on the Saturday they reopened and its was the best tonic to beat the lockdown blues!! I had the Lamb and my wife had the Sea Bass, the very best of English produce was cooked to perfection and served by attentive and professional staff. A real pleasure and helped to keep the cream of London's cuisine in business and experienced people employed

When visiting the Capital last June and staying in the Euston locality, we realised that we were within walking distance of the Gilbert and Scott restaurant at St. Pancras station. The walk from our hotel turned out to be longer than expected. On arrival we were guided to the bar where we were attended to by very friendly and efficient bar staff. Our drinks were quickly placed in front of us, the menus were also supplied for us to peruse, and apologies given that there would be a short wait for a table at the restaurant.
It was not long before we were asked to go to our table. We were rather amazed at the size of the restaurant, and also the number of waiters and waitresses in attendance. Our choices from the menu were delivered in a very short time. We certainly could not fault the meals, and the presentation of everything was superb.
At the end of the meal I casually mentioned that the walk from our hotel had been longer than expected. The immediate response was that a taxi would be available at the front of the hotel if we required one. The overall service was something that we shall never forget and next time we are in the Capital we shall visit the restaurant again.

Very disappointing! This is not a cheap restaurant and whilst the food was decent (ive had better and more interesting but i have no complaints) the service was so terrible it did mar the evening quite a lot. I genuinely don't care much about service at restaurants - as long as its not too slow and miserable then that's good enough for me but it was very much both of these. When we arrived we were told to wait in the bar until a table was available except no one ever came to get us, when we did sit down the wait both to order food and to receive it was absolutely interminable, I was given the wrong menu (I was going for the set) and was given a sarcastic response when I pointed out the error, I was also given a sarcastic response when I asked for tap water. I drank my glass within five minutes and didn't get a single refill the whole evening (yes I get it you don't make any money off tap water!). I asked for the bill to come with a desert as it was late and i had hoped to be out of there an hour earlier but did it come with it! No it did not.

In conclusion, for me there are restaurants that are a labour of love where you can clearly see that the people running it want to give people as good an experience as they can and then there are restaurants where its a business pure and simple, they've got the location and the name chef and that's good enough for them.

The service was excellent. The surroundings are stunning. But the food didn't quite match the rest. Lots of it was really tasty but elements let it down. Eg The chips are mostly greasy 'scraps'. The potatoes dauphinoise was also poor. The salmon starter is like the opened a supermarket packet, cut it into rectangles and served for a nice mark up. The rosti with the pork was rock hard/inedible.

It's not a cheap place so I've marked it lower than I would another less expensive place.

Please note there's still good reason to go here. Just be judicious wth your choices.

Excellent service from Irene. Always willing to pleased and worked very hard in this busy restaurant. The setting has a historical feel to it. Food was cooked nicely. The only issue I have it's the gent's toilet is a bit small for such a large venue. Had to wait ages to get in.

My husband and I came here with our seven year old daughter to celebrate a special occasion. I was AMAZED by the kindness and attention they showed my daughter in particular and how welcome they made us feel, despite it being a restaurant full of adults. They gave us a special desert for free and as we were leaving handed my daughter some chocolate truffles as well. They made sure she had colouring pens and a free colouring book to colour in and were just so nice to her, they treated her almost like she was a celebrity or something. It was just wonderful and so, so rare to go to a fancy London restaurant with a child and feel so welcome.
The food was delicious and I would highly recommend the chocolate nougat desert but the service and the atmosphere was what made this so special and memorable a visit. Wish I could give more than 5 stars and we will definitely be back.

Beautiful restaurant, historical building, and convenient location at Saint Pancras station. The cocktails from the bar next door are excellent and the wine list is extensive and well-priced. Delicious menu and attentive staff. I would certainly recommend this restaurant if you haven t been before.

Went through open table for 3 courses and desert cocktail deal. They served up the food a number of dishes included supplements so pushed up the price. Then they totally forgot the cocktails, even though when asked they said they were coming. We paid up, cocktails were on the bill even though they never arrived. Ah well.

Gorgeous historical restaurant. The food is tasty but a bit overpriced, we tasted the "corpse revival and the 1871" cocktails and they are really good. For food the gnocchi with mushrooms is a good option. They have a really good piano player.

Extremely disappointing Christmas dinner. Location is quite stunning, but the food was below any standard. We paid 130 pounds per person excluding drinks for what was basically a Sunday roast... And a bad one while we're at it. For the price we were expecting a fine dining experience, however it turned out to be little more than pub grub. Staff was friendly.

Really nice food and great knowledgeable service. However, the company doesn't pay wages properly and still owes me couple hundreds quids. They ignore any communication and in a nutshell, the management treats the commis waiters the same way as the chefs. Whether this changed since I left I don't know. Neither if other restaurants have the same practices. But given my experience, I would enjoy an expensive meal elsewhere a bit more.

Awful experience. Most of the staff are like robots with faces like they don't want to be at work. Starter was basically a bowl of salad leafs. Sides of bread and chips were very good. In the mains one of the diners found a large piece of tissue in their herb gnocchi. The desserts weren't the best.

This experience was rectified by the duty manager, however despite this, Gilbert Scott is a definitely a no-go for me and my friends.

We visited this restaurant last new years eve while staying at the ritz in order to explore more local places. The interior was not as grand as the ritz but the atmosphere was very nice and buzzing, intresting surroundings and happy waiting staff. Overall food was nice but main course was the best course out of all courses yet very simple! soup and canopies were rather confusing but tasted ok! Will give another try next time in London!

Great white cloth dining experience. The food is good and live piano music in the background adds a nice touch. My favorite on the menu was bone marrow with duck hearts, hope it is still on the menu when I come back!

The Gilbert Scott is a new addition to King's Cross, and one of the reasons why that area is no longer deserving of its 'scummy' reputation (well, not much anyway). It's incredibly beautiful and unashamedly art deco. Despite the friendly and laidback service, it's the sort of place you get dressed up to visit. They do afternoon tea (which I haven't tried) but I can recommend the house cocktail, 1853. If the rest of the hotel is as gorgeous as this bar, I'll definitely have to visit soon!

Having been here a few times in the past and loving it I was sadly not very impressed with my last visit on Nov 4th for my birthday with a group of close friends.

I was going to write a letter but felt that it would be to no avail.

Such a shame that a beautiful place with an initial great reputation has gone to pot!!
I would not recommend this place to any of my friends or work colleagues, neither would none of my guest at the dinner either.

Underwhelming set menu. Starter of heritage tomatoes very bland. Main of sea bream if anything slightly overlooked. Bizarre claggy sweetcorn sauce. V unmemorable. Expect more from this establishment. Service pleasant but ultimately erratic. V long time to order .

Wonderful building, great for a quick drink...so close to KX station perfect before catching train or on just arriving. Private dining room great for a special event and the food is great - loved the pigeon casserole in a fluffy crispy Yorkshire pudding and the Eccles Cake with cheddar cheese ice cream is divine! Staff are wonderful of course.

We paid 218 pounds for two, for a below par dinner. Definitely expected something special from a restaurant with Marcus Warings name.
The starter and desserts were miniscule and poor to average.
The service was good and the room was beautifully restored.
Adding 30% vat on the bill with 12.5 % service certainly inflated the price.
I would not recommend it . A better dinner could be had for 50% less.

First class food and service. If you want a treat, this is the place. I had the octopus to start and wow was this a perfect dish and the next two courses followed in suit. I don't want to ramble but I'm a food man and this satisfied my every taste bud.

An impressive location and interior but an underwhelming dining experience. The food was mostly decent, though only occasionally exceptional, but the waiting staff, with one solitary exception, were inattentive and lacking, and while the wine list looked fine, the beer selection was poor - so much so that I didn't bother. Why do so many high-end restaurants treat beer so casually? Alas, the cocktail I had instead was far too sweet. To round it off we had the cheese platter, despite the lack of wheat-free crackers to go with it. Is it really so difficult to cater to such basic (gluten intolerant) dietary requirements; to have a packet of oatcakes in the larder at the very least? Infuriating and uninspiring.

Booked an early meal before catching a train at Euston away for Easter weekend.

The service from start to finish was absolutely wonderful. The staff were attentive, helpful and just down right amazing.

When I booked online, I ticked a box saying it was our anniversary and completely forget. The staff never asked but at the end of our meal surprised us with the cakes and a complimentary book signed by Marcus Wareing.

Oh yes, the food. The pork belly was delicious

Will definitely go back when I travelling via Euston.

Real shame. Used to be my favourite cocktail bar. The menu is less visually creative now but still the same price. Service not as attentive (have spent the night here on a birthday whim based on excellent service in the past!) Used to serve snacks with drinks (a la Savoy or One Aldwych) that attention to detail has gone. Feels a bit more like a modern railway hotel than the GS of old.

Anniversary Dinner for 2

Anniversary Dinner for 2

Service was impeccable, food was fantastic

We had:

Sourdough (best I've ever had)
Burrata
Pear soup
Sirloin steak, pepper sauce and marrow.
Duck breast (very tasty)
Lemon cheesecake
Salted caramel tart (highlight)
Truffles

Salted caramel tart was incredible, took a minute or so to go through the full flavour profile which I loved.

Would have been 5 stars but the medium rare steak was very rare so we couldn't share. I still eat it happily and it was even taken off the bill so very happy ending.

I will go again

Well, before things went wrong, this place was heading for a 3-star review. The food was above average, but not special. The service was sub par for the location and money.

It's a shame. The location is fantastic, and we were really looking forward to this Valentine's Day dinner.

UPDATE: The manager reached out to me two days later, was very apologetic, refunded our entire meal, and ensured us that the rodent has been dealt with. I appreciate the gesture, and I'll adjust my review accordingly. Glad to see that they dealt with this promptly.

The food and drink here is fantastic, the prices seem fair and the location is stunning. I had the fillet with truffle sauce which was the best steak I've had to date. The drink menu is vast so you won't be left without your favourite tipple and the cocktails were excellent too. Pricing is what you might expect for a luxury meal; this is an occasion venue to me, and worth it as the setting is just brilliant.

Marcus Wareing's addition to the Renaissance is both plush and relaxed equally.
High quality service as you'd expect from restaurants of this ilk and it didn't disappoint. Amazing staff, full COVID measures in place and we felt very safe and distanced from other diners but still managed to keep the opulent ambience.
Food was incredible at every stage and they were able to accommodate our dietary requirements.
The soup was delicious and i enjoyed the lamb croquettes. The sourdough is a delicious and generous portion of 8 slices!
Steak was served with a very good green peppercorn sauce and the sea bream with lobster sauce (with extra lobster meat) was a stand out dish.
If you love bone marrow, you are in for a treat, one of the few places that get it right, I'm still thinking about mine a few days later.
All of the desserts looked great and the salted caramel tart and espresso ice were amazing.
Staff were faultless.
Lovely for a relaxed evening meal.

Can t recommend enough. An elegant setting, attentive, but never intrusive service and impeccable food and wine. Why waste you re time with lesser and uninspiring restaurants when The Gilbert Scott ticks all the boxes.
