What a lovely place, so welcoming with wonderful staff whose priority is your comfort and a full stomach. Stayed for one night and dinner but returned the following evening as it was superb. Luke and Andy tended to our needs and are a credit to the hotel/restaurant .

We stayed for two nights. It s a great location but the whole place needs a significant overhaul. We stayed in the top floor and whilst clean and comfy the room needed decorating (walls and paintwork damaged /marked), a loft across hatch that possibly hasn t been painted since the original opening, the shower had mildew and our view was a suitcase someone has thrown out the window onto the roof. The bar area also had a damp slight sewage smell so we ate and drank elsewhere. Nothing was so significant so that we d move for the two nights but equally we wouldn t stay again or recommend to others.
The problem was that their Sunday Menu was not advertised on their website, so what I had planned in advance wasn't on the menu we were given. Instead of Fillet Steak I had to settle with Sirloin and it was too tough and grizzly to eat so I complained about it. Fair enough they offered me a replacement steak, or a free desert which was very nice.
Only 3 guest ales. However it is a lovely Inn, full of low oak beams, supposed to be the oldest Inn in Cowes and it is right on the seafront next to the Red Jet hydrofoil terminal. I really like it
It also has a good number of rooms available for those wanting a short stay.
This is always a super place to visit. Lots of coming and going being situated close to the Red Jet, with hustle and bustle creating a friendly, busy atmosphere. There are lulls at times. Service is good, excellent value for money. We like it ,as it serves Aspell's Cider.
They are open with a good system under current restrictions. Staff have full ppe and a 1 way system in place. They advice the use of a app for ordering but I couldn't get on with it. So I ordered at bar, only after a pint while waiting for ferry great all round
Nicely situated with a blview of the river medina, this is a lovely little place to pop into for a beer or food. Seabass risotto was very good. Staff were very helpful and welcoming. Dinstancing regulations were spot on. App is easy to use. Couldn't fault my lunchtime experience. Especially the lad who looks like Alfred E Neumann from Mad magazine.
Staff are very friendly, and the bed seemed like it was brand new. However, The cleanliness was average at best, for 5 days the bed was made, but no effort was made to actually look at the state of cleaning in the room, a spider's web was left in a very obvious place with a dead fly in for the whole time I was there, I noted this as I was watching to see if it was cleaned... the dust had been left from the previous occupant with hair All over the bathroom floor. So it was very clear that it hadn't been cleaned. One of the glasses in the bathroom had toothpaste on when I arrived, clearly not changed after the room was vacated. And the state of the walls was shocking.... topped off by a half eaten pot of hummus left in the draw and make-up or some other substance splattered all over the mirror.. A re-education of the cleaners is much needed. Other staff were very good though.
Brilliant friendly staff, nice and lovely place, tasty food , fair price. There is two menus to choose from, first is saver menus with limited choices but lower price for locals. The second one is bigger menus with more options and a little bit higher price . Generally all food are nice tasty and good value Definitely will recommend it . Will go again with more friends.
alright place for after work drinks as it is right next to the redjet terminal and you can smash a pint and be on your ferry in 1 min. food is fairly decent. theres a fire and lots of seating. barman is super friendly and loves talking about his beer :)
Barmaid wasn't so good. Took 10 minutes for two drinks. Spent 8 minutes of that on the till working out which button to press. I would put that down to someone learning usually but even the guy in charge seemed to spend an eternity in there. They also had about 5 people taking up 80% of the bar. Not a welcoming place tbh
From the moment we arrived the service was terrible , we sat at our table for a good 10 min before we were asked to order our food at the bar. when we did the gentleman who took our order was rude and sarcastic , i was later told he was the Manager. after our food arrived it was clear it had just been warmed up in the grill or microwave and tasted bland. when we were asked by the Manager how was your food we said it was not good , he shrugged and walked away , we were asked by 2 other members of staff if we were enjoying our meal we said we were not impressed but this was also ignored .
Beautifully located pub, the staff and the owners are absolutely lovely and the food is amazing and very good value for money. The staff went above and beyond to make sure we enjoy ourselves. Great job guys
Disappointing, I went here for a new years day lunch with my wife and eight yr old daughter and we had to send our food back, the fish in batter was black like it had been cooked in dirty oil and the same for the chips, we sent it back and a new meal was sent out.(slight improvement) For the price we paid the portion size leaves a lot to be desired endless to say we wont be going back. The reason for the two stars is my daughter loved the kids cheese burger and demolished the chocolate brownie in record time.
Was given serious food poisoning which lead to me being in bed for days, bar staff spilt water all over our table which broke my mums phone and drenched the rest of us. Used to love this pub but after that visit I will steer clear
Went for lunch on Sunday 18th February with my partner and his son.
We arrived at 2.30 and ordered 2 chicken burgers and chips and chicken breast in peppercorn sauce and chips from the savers menu and a coke a water and a coffee at the bar.
Got given the coke, and was told they would bring the rest over to our table.
5 mins later the water arrived at the table.
5 mins after that food arrived. We asked the waitress where our coffee was she said if was on it s way.
We proceeded to start eating the the meals and another member of staff asked how everything was, we explained still no coffee she replied (Oh it s probably on it s way) and left us.
With in a minute another staff member asked if we were ok? We again said no coffee yet, this staff member did ask the barman who then made the coffee and bought it over saying sorry I forgot (laughing)
I had eaten some chips onion rings and peas only off my plate and finally tried the chicken it was a bit odd tasting but I tried another few mouthfuls and then jumped up and ran to the toilets to be sick. The chicken was slimes and watery and cold in the Centre.
I care out of the toilet and quietly explained to the staff member behind the bar I had been sick because of the chicken.
His response I ll tell the chef and then walked away to serve the bar customers.
I returned to the table, and told my family about being ill from the chicken, both of there meals had been average but edible, Next waiter came over 5th person to ask his things were and I explained I couldn t eat the meal as the chicken was off and slimey, and I wanted a refund for my meal which is I paid for in advance btw. I was told the would tell the chef, and it looked like I d eaten some chips and onion rings. So no refund and they took the plates and walked away.
We had to catch the red jet at 3.15 or I would of caused a scene.
Why send do many people over to our table asking if it s ok if your going to ignore the feeback from your customers.
The food took over an hour to be served. After having the order infor half an hour they then came back to say they were out of one of the meals. Not good
Probably the best pub left in Cowes in terms of decent pub grub and beer at a reasonable price. Normally show the football and have live music at the weekends. Pub quiz here was always a good laugh too
