Multiple stains on the carpet. Dirty and outdated. Not worth the stay. Only perk was the Boardwalk and Beach were directly out of the rear of the hotel. Choose elsewhere.
Nice rooms, nice view of the ocean. No restaurants were operating. No slot machines. A big empty hotel with one bar, putt putt golf, ping pong, and pool table. Nothing at all like the website showed. Kind of disappointing after traveling 12 hours. Would of stayed elsewhere if I would have known.
This past weekend stayed in a room with two doubles and it was less than stellar. One of the beds were concave and my husband and I got no sleep. I woke up with a sore back both days. The beds did not have fitted sheets so both nights the sheets would not stay on the bed. In fact, we woke up lying directly on the mattress both mornings. We called for fitted sheets and were told they ran out. We then asked for extra flat sheets but they never brought them up. Finally, the room was clearly not completely cleaned as we found dirty towels stuffed in the drawers in the room. We do not plan to stay here again.
Overall it was a pleasant experience to stay here. We had an issue with the TV being broken when we checked in and it was replaced in a timely manner. The room was clean and comfortable.
There is no casinos and you can't even smoke in your room.
This was my first time staying at a casino hotel in Atlantic City and I must say the rooms were extremely clean the staff was very friendly they offered very helpful tips
Terrible customer service. Wil not stay here again I can't wait for tomorrow to come so I can leave.
I m sorry but this hotel is run down, smelly and tome service sucks!! There is no restaurant, no casino game
My husband and I had such a great time at the Showboat Hotel. We celebrated our 24th anniversary and really enjoyed our stay. We were hesitant at first because of all the negative reviews, but after staying there, they are so unwarranted. If you just want a beautiful place to stay and don't mind not having the casino then you will enjoy the Showboat hotel. I will definitely visit again.
No alarm clock or microwave. Plug didn't work. Back of dresser/ TV stand was coming off. Food in chair from pervious person. Casino is gone so big open space. Dog pee on floor. The smell of weed so strong in the hallway that made it's way in our room on last day there. Then on checkout they charge $15.99 a night for resort fees but what does that fee really cover? And you can't even use a cart to take all your stuff out.
Nice room non smoking at all have to stand outside its a Ghost town!
This is clearly an unkept hotel, our room was pretty clean. There was no enforcement of wearing face mask and I felt very uncomfortable with that. They only had 3 elevators working and you had to stand in line for several minutes to get on the elevator. I understand social distancing but have all of your elevators working! They charge you 15.00 a day for parking, no break for guests staying at your establishment? It was a very unenjoyable trip I didn t even want to leave the room, I left a day early and will never return to this hotel. It really is a shame how this place has gone down hill.
On top of the room charge you have to pay 25 a day to park.. Then the charge u an extra 100 for insurance that they say u get back but then they tell u they charge an extra 15 a day as a resort fee .. My room. Was missing a door on the cabinet.. There was no microwave.. No information in room about anything.. For the money u pay this is the most disappointing hotel Ive ever stayed at
A horror show from beginning to end, virtually no one there
Rooms were very clean and the staff very attentive to every little need. Couldn't ask or want for more.
Nice rooms and lobby. The casino is no longer there so they have a lot of unused space but the restaurants are still running. They have an arcade and mini golf inside which is cool for rainy days. If you walk through the ground level you can go straight out to the boardwalk and the beach. 20 mins walk to the Tropicana and like 15 to Caesars palace.
The hotel itself is very good very nice and everything but the people that work for the hotel not everyone treats the customer the right way we will go there again
This was the most horrible experience I have had when visiting Atlantic City. This Hotel falsely advertised that there were many different attractions located in this hotel. But as soon as as my family and I arrived we have to park outside of the hotel and pay a fee! Then once we were settled we took a walk around the hotel and discovered there was No Casino and literally all the restaurants we're closed.. so we had to venture out to find a place to eat, I was just saddened by this because the reason this hotel was booked was due to the many attractions within the property and as we found out there was absolutely nothing in the hotel to do but sleep even the pool was located on a decknout side. And since it rained the entire weekend we were not even able to enjoy that!!! On the day of check out we ask the staff why was all of the amenities for this hotel place on the website if it wasn't available to guest? They told us the the Hard Rock Hotel had purchased the hotel and we're in works to change everything, so that was why we had to park outside the hotel because the hotel was now basically owned by the neighboring hotel. By the way none of this information was posited on the web or even told to you at check in... I am totally disgusted with my experience with this hotel. I would never recommend this hotel to anyone!!!!
A barren wasteland. Bugs in bathroom sink, bed sheets had holes and were stained, valet staff were rude, and water pressure and the height of shower head were pitiful. Restaurant food was not good (to be fair, tater tots were good). The bar on main floor was expensive given the limited options and the first bartender had no change or idea how much drinks cost (cash only). The room lamps and wall plugs didn't work. The room smelled so strongly of weed we had to leave the door open to air it out. Hotel management wouldn't move us, but they did discount the room...yay? Best part of hotel? Checking out was quick and desk staff were friendly.
I attended a social event. Very nice. Good drinks. Sad the casino has closed. Rooms were quite expensive so we stayed overnight elsewhere.
You can tell this hotel used to be a casino but it looks like they don't have any plans to make it look any better than it does. It's huge but allot of empty floors with dated smelly carpet. Still a pretty nice place though
Found a cockroach crawling on my nightstand the night I arrived. Fruit flies everywhere in the room. Dirty, outdated room. Cleaning people didn t come once in my 3 day stay and I had no clean towels. Noisy and low class neighbors (not casinos fault) and $20 per night to park when you re staying there! They give no parking discount to the people paying hundreds to stay here.
I work out at Matrxx Gym, which is located at the Showboat Casino! Great gym and a great location!
Very disappointed rooms were dirty hallways were super dirty. Very very bad cleaning staff.
Just a hotel now but good for certain events as well
Stayed in Showboat for 4 days courtesy Noth American Bengali Conference 2018. Nice rooms, quiet and active surrounding... Thoroughly enjoyed!!!
I did not even stay long enough to think of adding any more stars than 1. We arrived Thursday for a wknd of fun and a Luke Bryan concert that was really the main fun on our list. Only after 4 hours in this hotel my WALLET WAS STOLEN !!. Took a trip to the bar located near the elevators. My girlfriend and I just wanted to relax and get settled. I sat down at a car racing game and played. When I stood up my wallet must have been half out and half in and fell out. I walked about 10 -15 feet away to talk to my girlfriend. There were 2 other guests of the hotel playing pool near us. This was not at the bar so the only people were us two and those 2. The WALLET WAS GONE!!! Poof magic into thin air. I had realized within a minute that is was not on me and walked back only to never find it again. Meanwhile one of the two girls abruptly walked away from the pool game to take the elevators up to her room. very very odd, especially since it was only approx 1 minute , she runs off and both of them heard me getting excited about loosing it. then about 10 minutes go by and they are out the door having their car pulled up by valet.
Fast forward.... I tell the bartender, i ask other guests if they saw it. The bartender was very unhelpful and in fact was chatting friendly with the two girls and a friend who joined 20 min after the incident. also very weird. I was followed around by one of the girls and sometimes two asking me questions about what was in the wallet and if it could be tracked or used without my permission. odd again. i kept my cool.
security arrive (1 guy) . i forget his name but he was very very helpful and polite. he assisted me. basically telling me there are no working cameras in the area i was in and no way to assist in proving that it was stolen by the other guests. Time goes by he fills out an incident report and i am told to call the police. Keep in mind that after alerting the front desk I WAS ASKED TO CALL THE POLICE. A crime happened in your establishment and I received no assistance on that end, in fact the front desk ppl did not seem very concerned at all!!
The police arrived and I told them the entire story. They try their best to assist but there is no camera to prove and so much time has passed the thieves had much time to stash, throw away etc.
In the end I am very let down . I am angry and the entire wknd was ruined for us. Why you ask ? Well as many other woman would agree my girlfriend and myself felt very unsafe immediately after. where else was there no cameras"? and because people can walk in right off the street and boardwalk , is she the next to have something stolen? We left that night, and had problems asking for a refund. the room was purchased from groupon which is a third party so we have to go through them anyways. they gave us 2 out 3 . i called the next day and after having to call back since this matter was not on the call you back list, finally got the entire booking refunded. they were not able to refund the valet because it was a different company.
In the end like i had mentioned, the wknd was ruined. Not even there 4/5 hours and I am talking to police, on my vacation. We were able to sell our tickets , dive back to Philly that night to get an ok nights rest. We had to drive back there to drop off to the person purchasing. it was like a heavy load even coming back into AC. I will never stay at the Show Boat again, nor will I recommend it. It sounds drastic, but since AC has been on its downward slope for so long anyways, we will not likely be spending any more of our money at AC and instead go to our preferred shore locations.
So a warning to anyone staying here. It is ran by a skeleton crew, some cameras do not work, staff was so so in assistance and in the end I had belongings stolen from me, not even by a random person but a guest the hotel was housing. Thank you for reading
In addition : I remember coming here a long time ago to see a pink floyd cover band and had a great time, it is a shame :(
It took 3 hours to checked in. There was a line of over 200 people waiting to be checked in
Missed a dinner reservation thanks to them being short staffed. Manager said they would take 50% off they never did. Really bad experience!!!
This place is a dump.... Rooms smelled like someone just smoked weed there..air conditioner did not work.. room got hot in the middle of the night.. not even a place to get breakfast in the morning.. would not stay in again...
Rooms are nice, nice view of the ocean, valet sucks...your better off self parking for $20
Went for Alesso concert and they let in a dangerously more amount of people then they should have. Way too crowded and for the price, I highly do not recommend.
Kind of spooky. Casino stuff has been pulled leaving bare walls and floors better covered by the tumult of a casino. Needs complete makeover, but what to do with acres of empty space?
Hybrid wrestling show spot
Cheap price but the matches are just right
Very expensive for the quality of the hotel. Room smelled a little strange, very few elevators working and we always had to use the very dirty internal stair case. Overall not a very pleasant experience.
They advertise and take pride that they are a pet friendly hotel. But when you bring your pet, they throw you in a handicap room with a shower that soaks the entire bathroom floor because it s made for a wheel chair. The room we got was across from like the break room and the ice machine. It felt like they put us in a dungeon because we brought our dog. I would expect by paying the pet fee they wouldn t tell us they put us in this type of room because we have a pet. Don t advertise that you are pet friendly hotel if you are going to make people with pets feel like they aren t welcome. In response to your response we did say something and that s when we were told it s cause we have a pet
Great location and friendly staff but looks like no one has really showed love to this hotel in a while. In my room furniture was broken , there were remnants of the last guest left in the toilet and wall paper was peeling. Also, when we got into our room everything was unplugged- the lamps, the tv, everything. The door needed to be pushed in hard or else it didn t close properly. The carpets in the hallway , let s just say need to be cleaned or replaced since there are stains on it since 1996. Again, staff was great (super friendly )
price was awesome, location was prime, but looks like they are not putting any money into this hotel and they are just going to let it die slowly.
No casino yet. It's very close to Hard Rock and Oceans resort.
Went here back in Dec '16. Inside was boarded off, and nothing interesting or fun to do.
Recently reopened, haven't been there since it has. Under the previous ownership it was one of AC's best hotels and casinos.
Thought it was closed down...there was honestly no one there.
Honestly I was afraid about the hotel because I read a lot of bad reviews, but I am in the Hotel right now and I can say that the Hotel is good, the service person are so sweet and nice. The room and bath are clean, only one recommendation would be more restaurant with different food.
NASTY THAT WAS THE WORST HOTEL I STAYED AT WHEN I GOT HOME I WASHED EVERYTHING I FELT SO DISGUSTING
Very "cold" in terms of inactive hotel, not much going on. I had the suite and the heat didn't work in the bedroom so had to sleep on the very uncomfortable sofabed in living room. Balcony had no furniture. I wouldn't stay again. Edit: Customer care supervisor Keisha was unwelcoming and seemed bothered just to check us in while the valet/bellboy Miguel/Manuel(?) was a lot more friendly and had a welcoming smile. Hotel really should swap positions for those two.
Waited over an hour to check in. Good rooms tho. Cheap for reason
Flase advertisement they said it was an arcade on premises but had 2 video games total said therr was a glow golf room which was still under construction. Very shallow and deserted lots of space and nothing to offer no food no drinks nothing this place is not a place to be my 2nights that I'm staying with my kids are boring Nd it rained the entire stay so kids was very bored
The showboat is empty. There are no casino games left, just a sad little arcade and a bar. We went there to play mini golf after purchasing groupon tickets only to find out they don't advertise how limited their times are. I loved this place as a kid but it's about dead.
Stayed for two nights. Room was acceptable but dated with older furniture and a small tube TV. Shower was terrible, water pressure was just about non-existent via the shower head although the tub filled quickly. I realize hotels must install shower heads with limiters but this was ridiculous. A friend had another room and hers wasn't quite so limiting. Tub was nice though, wide and deep.
Location was very good, right on the north end of the Boardwalk. Dining options for people on a budget were limited but there was a Panda Express in the Trump Taj Mahal next door.
I was surprised that they did not provide towels to use on the beach. I was told by an employee just to take the towels from the room but that didn't seem right.
Overall "It's okay" seems to sum up my stay.
I stayed here for my birthday weekend. The people were pleasant & friendly. There was an event they were hosting. The outlets in the room were a bit wonky & should be checked into. As nice & pretty as the room is the pillows were not that comfortable. The front desk clerk was nice but she seemed confused when I asked her about the self parking and directed me to speak to a valet. Which I did & he he guided us from there. Other than that I had a nice time.
Showboat is saddly nothing more then a memory of good times from the 90s,
The building is a skeleton and nothing remains from the once hopping place,
So sad to see places disappear like this,,,
The best hotel I have ever stayed at. Two bathrooms a kitchen, plenty of space and let me tell you the balcony was amazing
I recently booked a room and the experience was horrible. Employees were not friendly. The rooms were not clean, specially the bathroom, which there was only a small shower gel for two people. We did not have any sleep due to the other customers' scream while bein drunk on the hallway and specially a couple fight from the room right next to us, which started at 4am. I addressed my complaint to the reception area and they ignored me. I even addressed my complaint again in person on the check-in area and the girl did not even respond.
Still under construction or something. Some mold in the bathroom. Great curtains for sleeping in late. No casino.
The best place to stay this was the second time I have stayed at the showboat the employees are very nice and very helpful I will not stay anywhere else
Not a fan. Came down for the BBQ fest. Disappointed. Not very big. Not a lot of food
Was just strolling through, didn't interest me much.
Rooms are dirty, walls are paper thin so you can hear everything your neighbor does. Especially when they are partying at 5am. Security wasn't much help! Won't be staying again. I'll fork over the extra money and stay at The Borgata! **Update** Brittany at the front desk really went above and beyond to rectify our situation. We'll consider staying again.
Friendly staff but the hotel itself needs a lot of work.
1 star because there is no option for 0.
- Totally abandoned with empty places where used to be a casino;
- No security guard;
- No staff to take our car and luggage;
- We have to pay 20$ a night to park and if you stay after 1:30pm you need to pay one more night;
- The bathtub that they call pool is in the 6th floor. This floor was abandoned in the middle of a renovation. It is a bunch of empty rooms without doors and very dirty. SCARY. No signs. No nothing. And there is no lifeguard around.
- The room was clean but some stuffs were broken and/or not working.
- The place is not safe at all.
Very clean. Quaint and comfortable. Valets are very friendly and relatable. Staff is helpful. Came down with a headache and stores were a bit far just for tylenol, supervisor went out their way to get me some aleve.
Beautiful birthday getaway but the roach in the fridge I didnt invite but they changed my room nd it was better. Thank you
Didn't have a room last minute... very disappointed
The room we had was okay , the light over our door flickered so much! They need to think of taller people for the placement of their showerheads! I had to kinda duck!
