(The former) Crowne Plaza Oceanfront Hotel Review

Great place to stay! Right the beach with a great pool and beach side deck bar. Pete was a great bartender and made our honeymoon stay a great one!

On a business trip. Clean and friendly staff. A little noisy if on 1st flr. Especially near pool. My rm #174 was clean, but door was hard to open and had to make sure it was properly closed. There was no safe. Maybe u could ask for one, but I didn't. I would come back.

The food was delicious, the service was friendly and very helpful. I would definitely attend another Holiday dinner at The Crown Plaza.

Missing microwave in the room....nothing else to complain about

I really like that they send you a text about an hour after you check in to see if everything is good. Once I tried to use the drink coupon at the outside bar but there wasn't a bartender immediately available. That happened to be the time that I got the text checking on me. I "took the bait" and told them about lack of customary service and Paul (at the front desk) made it right for me almost immediately. This is my second time to stay here and the front desk has been very accommodating and helpful. Crowne Plaza has empowered their employees to be customer focused which will bring people back to the hotel even if they have a slight issue with the service provided. They make it right (and I'm not even that picky)... I could be happier with their level of service unless I got a free night's stay!

I've stayed at this particular Crowne Plaza for something like a dozen weeks of stays for business over the past four years, so I've got some perspective on the place.

In my opinion, how nice your stay is going to be depends on whether they put you in the main building or the "South Tower". The main building is generally quite nice. The other building... not so much. If they try to put you in the South Tower, immediately request to stay in the main building. Doesn't always work, especially in the summer when they're full, but it's worth a try.

Out in the South Tower, I've had problems with bugs, noisy AC, live music blasting into my room, the card reader being finicky, and any number of other annoyances. In the main building, those problems are very rare. It's basically like they're simultaneously running a hotel and a motel, but they charge you the same for both.

The rooms are like every other hotel I've ever been in. This particular place has a weird predilection for king-sized beds, and I did not find the pillows to be particularly comfortable. The TVs are flat-screens, but require some navigation to get the live TV going. Maid service is pretty good, though, and they know what not to touch.

The facilities are alright otherwise. The exercise room is nothing to write home about, but the pool is decent. Washing machines are the usual coin-op variety, but detergent isn't included. The particular stretch of beach they're on has a LOT of rocks in certain parts of the water - either bring water shoes or keep a close eye on where the other people are. I've never eaten the food, but reports from my co-workers were relatively positive. (If you keep kosher like me, note that the breakfast does have some cereal and milk that's kosher.) There is some sort of massage spa or whatever, but I don't know anyone who's availed themselves of it.

The staff has been friendly to me, but I don't ask much of them beyond forgotten toiletries or receiving packages.

I know this doesn't sound like an overly positive review, but given how often some hotels screw up the easy stuff, I enjoy the relative consistency of this particular hotel in having no major problems.

Excellent staff, very comfortable and clean rooms. This is a great beach hotel. Will return when I am back in the area.

the outdoor oceanfront deck is a great place to gather with friends

Stayed here for a long weekend. It had its ups and downs but it was mostly up. The place isn't new and we did have a small plumbing issue and when the teenagers next to us decided to smoke dope on the balcony hallway at 5 AM, we had to ask them to find another place to go. The manager the next day begged us to call in the future because they have a full-time night security, but if he was doing that good of a job, I think they would've heard 6 kids carrying on over the pool balcony (one of whom eventually puked onto the pool deck below).
However, the location on the beach, the awesome pool with 7.5 ft depth, the Friday night live music, Starbucks in the hotel, Gelato, and bar made this place a huge plus for us. Since we didn't have a car, we ordered UberEats or walked to Bunky's for dinner (highly recommended!). Also, the nearby Melbourne Seafood Station was great, too.
If you're looking for a weekend getaway, this is a perfect place!

Excellent ocean view and nice location. But food options are very less and breakfast menu is same for all 7 Days. Monotonous Menu. You may get bore fast.

I live across the street and come to this hotel all of the time. The oceanfront views are great, the lodging is affordable, the staff is excellent, and the bar and jazz concerts are great. The hotel can range from quiet and dead to so busy that there is no where to park. Despite reviews to the contrary, the food is well worth the money. The sun deck and pool area are quite nice, as is the spa. 5 stars in my book.

The view is beautiful and the pool is dreamy. We had delicious breakfasts (included in our package) at their restaurant, Marisol's. The decor in the lobby is well done with driftwood style objets d'art. Parts of Melbourne Beach are dog friendly and great for surfing and surf cast fishing. We saw several fisherman catching fish. In about a 30 minute window around 4pm we saw anglers catch pompano and several other fish. I hope I can return and see some sea turtles on this beach, too. Thank you to the staff for their hospitality and fine service.

My job brings me there once a year for our annual kick off event. It's a full service convention site and always top notch!

Room where the party was held was very nice, food was good, and facility we're clean. Staff were friendly and made the drinks very well.

This is what you could expect to see when you get up in the morning and it's comes with a great crew to serve all your needs, perfect getaway.

Definitely not a four star hotel. Pictures on website do not accurate reflect the look/feel of the hotel. Overpriced for what you get - extras are ridiculously overpriced (if you drink the small bottle of water left in room, you will be charged $3).

Room smelled musty and a/c did not work. Hotel was operating a full occupancy, so there was no other room to move to. I was given $60 discount (on $700 stay) for my troubles. On my next-to-last night there, I was offered to have engineering come to the room to look at a/c, etc. (other room issues - bathroom), but i declined.

For an average daily rate of approx. $160/night, I expected better.

Hotel is great for kids looking for place close to beach with pool/hot tub. Not great for adults looking for a comfortable hotel to relax.

Went to the Crowne Plaza to have the Valentine's Day dinner with my wife we had prime rib when we ordered it medium they sent us well done send it back and got it back it was okay will I go for another Valentine's Day dinner there and have prime rib no I don't think so did not stay at the hotel but I will not have another prime rib there a lot of fat grissel

BE AWARE OF BED BUGS - ROOM 573
I was booked for 4 night for work travel.
Woke up to grab my phone and there were bed bug nymphs all over the TV stand, just swarming around. I called the front desk, they send out their maintains/"engineer" to see it. He sprayed the stand and he himself was like "ya i wouldn't be staying here". we got to the front desk and Sandy at the desk said she didn't have any free rooms for the night. they had send me to a different hotel, by the time I got to the new room it is now 3am. They called me the next morning to say we are going to comp 2 of your nights and have you stay the last night in a different room. Once i got into the office i told my workers who are local and they informed me to this horrible hotel. they were like ya I would never stay there, I wish I would have spoken to them before hand. At the moment i didn't know what it was until spoke with folks at work and they pulled up things online. MY office assistant called the our travel agent and they called the hotel....now, what lairs these folks are.

One they are saying they are ants...I know what ants are, I am from CA!
Our company travel folks wanted full refund...now in the morning Sandy told me they were going to comp two nights. Now that I was not returning for my fourth night they said they were only going to comp one. personally I don't give a rats about comp since this place is pretty cheap for a company, its about the fact you are lairs that's what bothers me! Owe up to what you have and clean my laundry and my carry-on/backpack.

I feel validated as a personal and their disregard to the truth is ridiculous.

the hotel itself is super run-down and nasty...please please don't stay here at all. go somewhere else.

Too warm giving the number of people, and the plates were too small for all the wonderful food.

Wow!!! Is all I can say. The staff was outstanding!!! The beach is right outside your front door you can't beat a view like that

They gave my a ground floor room ask to be moved higher but front desk convinced me that this room had a great view. Not impressed with view. Probably would be a room if I was here for a vacation and wanted quick access to beach, but being here for one I would prefer a good view. The room itself there is nothing to complain or brag about.

Upon arrival we were greeted by front desk they were very kind. As our stay continued I took a hot shower but my daughter couldn't take a hot shower because the hot water ran out. Then there was an odor coming out of the vents in the bathroom it was horrible dead rat smell. I told the front desk and he was quick with his responses like it was routine ( we had a problem with the boiler and it was fix at 10:30 last night/ and it not a rat it's a bird we try to keep them out but....) I'll refund your parking... WTH and then I told him that there was all kinds of trash under the beds and he kinda shook it off so. DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

The rooms are a little outdated, but it's right on the beach. The A/C unit in my room made the room smelled like urine.

Nice and clean establishment Workers were nice and attentive. I will return in the future.

We used this hotel for our wedding block for four days. My parents room was canceled the night of our wedding and they had to go and move rooms after the ceremony and miss the beginning of the reception. As the parents of the bride, this put a huge damper on the event. The staff was not coherent of the situation. They made many mistakes on multiple occasions throughout our weekend here. The hotel is beautiful but unless you can tolerate lots of disruptions and hiccups during one of the most stressful and important weekends of your life, I would book elsewhere. We are very disappointed overall. But we should of seen it coming since they staff had horrible communication prior to our contract signing.

The location is great we are on the water and the culture is great nice staff i will stay here again

I've been staying here for years. The staff are wonderful! The new remodel looks great. They always have good bands and Katie at the bar is fabulous.

The hotel is undergoing renovations, but is pretty nice. There were several evening events during my stay, which caused the main parking lot to be full. Fortunately, there is plenty of overflow parking across the street, but it was not obvious.

It was a great hotel with an amazing view of the beach ! The pool and hot tub were great additions to hotel. Everyone seemed nice but it didn't have the jaw dropping factor of a five star hotel.

No Queen beds available, so my back and my neck still hurts.

Hotel lobby, hall's and conference rooms were beautifully done. The staff was very courteous , friendly and helpfull.

Awesome place to stay. I liked that it has a restaurant and a bar, so I don't have to drive to find a place to cheer.

Joe at the front desk is exceptional he's the one that greeted me and checked me in he truly cares about Crowne Plaza customers he went the extra mile for me and made sure I was completely satisfied with my stay also the GM Allen made sure my stay was comfortable Kylie always had a smile on her face at the front desk and made each day pleasant I also appreciate Miguel who works in the restaurant he sent up enough hot water in a pitcher so I can have tea and I wouldn't have to go up and down the elevator all the people that I interacted with Charles, Nick, Michael the engineer were very delightful and accommodating I will definitely stay here again when I visit in the area

Staff was present and they were able to upgrade me when I checked in. The breakfast buffet was included and was OK.

Nice place to visit. They have a pool, spa, and gym, but I did not have time to explore much more.

Rooms were good size, excellent service, has a hot tub.

Booked a room that was canceled prior to the cancellation period. It has been almost a month and they have still not given me a refund. Have called numerous times and still no refund. Have spoken to numerous managers and I have been told the refund would occur the next day. Still nothing! This is out of control.

We attended a profession event. The location was clean and smelled great! But as people arrived the a.c. did not seem to work well.it was extremely hot a d people even had to walk out of the hall to get air. My sister who had a heart transplant was beet red and was having trouble catching her breath. Besides that location was nice. Just wish they would have py.ped up the a.c. so it would be far more comfortable.

Attended a banquet there and food was very good. Service, not too much interaction but was there was, all were polite and did their job. Walked outside and had a nice outside area with bar and tables basically right close to beach.

Our fourth floor suite facing the ocean had a great view. We loved watching the sun rise and the many pelicans. Our first night we saw a sea turtle and a couple of raccoons on the beach from our balcony. The room was clean and nice. The restaurant was good as well. I would consider going back to this hotel in the future.

Crowne Plaza is a great place to stay, with only a few cons that were kind of disappointing. Everything was very clean and the staff was very nice and accommodating. The air conditioner (and dehumidifier!) in the room worked well. There was no mildew smell at all, which can be very common in even nicer hotels in Florida. The bed was very comfortable and the TV was a decent 42" LG LCD. The shower was okay, but just a normal size.
We stayed inthe South Tower, which has more motel-style rooms with outdoor entry and no private balcony. The North tower has private balconies. I wish I had noticed the difference when i booked, I probably would have gotten the nicer room.
Unfortunately there is a $9 per night parking fee, which I think is bogus. Florida has plenty of land for parking, plus they own a big lot right across the street, there's no reason to charge for parking other than greed. Also, some fixtures and things were broken around the property. The shower by the beach wasn't working. The hot tub only had one working jet. The threshold of our door had rusted bolts and had come loose.
Overall the stay was fine, nothing ruined our trip. I might try another place next time, but I would still recommend Crowne Plaza for the nice pool, restaurant, and occasional live music by the beach.

Nice venue, friendly staff, but the tilapia I received for dinner tasted like it was fished straight from the garbage. The bar was a little over priced as well, but overall it was a pretty nice spot.

You could not ask for a better view of the Atlantic ocean. I remember a few years ago, previous to the current owners, the customer base seemed much larger and socializing was a reason to go here. We've been back a few times since and it's not the same. Hands down, one of the best places to eat locally. They have elevated the food menu and food quality. Super nice bartenders have always been a reason to come back.

Its a nice hotel with great view, the big take away is that all or most housekeepers cannot communicate in English, that doesn't make sense. You are in urgent need of help and the house keeper is speaking in Spanish even though it's obvious you don't understand. It goes to show they are not catering to everyone....they should be bilingual. There was a house man though who spoke fluent English and was so accommodating , he was a big help, More workers like him would make our stay much more comfortable. Thanks Mike.

Clean place, great deck overlooking the ocean. Bar is a little over priced. Good experience overall.

Great place, oceanfront views are amazing, live music. Took one star off because the beach towels kind of run out too quickly and staff does not replenish them frequently so take you own...

Erin Tabornwas amazing! Very responsive and helpful every step of the wah ! She helped my wedding plans and room block go smoothly! My oceanview room was clean and there even was a letter directly to me when I entered the room!

Ate outside on deck. Ambiance was great, food and service were good, but unfortunately smoking is permitted on deck, so we had to move to avoid obnoxious smoke, only to get seated next to someone else who smoked most of the time. I will never understand why someone won't smoke while THEY'RE eating, but has no qualms whatsoever lighting up when they're done and blowing smoke on someone else who is still eating. Next time, we'll choose someplace that is non- smoking.
