Despite its nice setting we were extremely disappointed with the food. They ran out of all the fish dishes on the specials board, apparently in the afternoon, but didn't bother to remove the dishes from the board. We ordered scampi and chips and a mushroom risotto. The chips tasted as if cooked in very old oil, were soggy and burnt. The tartar sauce, served in a small dish, had a thick yellowing crust on, indicating that it had been out for hours. It was clearly not homemade and had a very chemical taste. The mushroom risotto was lovelessly chucked together on top of a dollop of rice served with soggy garlic bread. It lacked any kind of flavour or freshness. The menu is very limited and, as with so many pubs in the area, little thought is given to vegetarians and vegans

Turned up just before 1pm on bank holiday monday, got a table and placed a food order. 40 minutes later, we still hadn't received our food or any apologies or explanation as to why we have yet to get out food so we approached the bar and asked them where it was to which they said they'd chase it up. Another 30 minutes passed and we once again had to enquire about the food to which the rude bar wench stated that the chef was on his own so we should expect food to be delivered slowly. (Why they have 1 chef on a bank holiday monday is beyond me)

As for my other parties food, they had the same complaints. Store bought, frozen foods that they've heated up and served in a dysmal fashion. It's okay when you're at a Wetherspoons, but not a local pub that serves "fresh food daily"

Do not, I repeat, do not buy anything from here. I will not be returning, nor recommending anyone to come. I'd just go to the Co-Op and buy my own Rustlers.

Pleasant little pub, service was quick and friendly. We had to share a table with another couple waiting as the inside is very small. Good menu selection, we went with a sunday roast however we feel we should have gone with something off the menu. The food we had wasn't bad but it wasn't anything special either, I don't think we'd go for a roast again as the meat was a little tough and the potatoes were a tad dry but the steak and ale pie sounded great. All in all, it's a nice little stop along the canal.

Called today with my husband and meal not so good. I had Rump Steak which was average. Hubby had the Beef & veg dinner, however, the beef was rubbery and dry.. roasties hidden under meat were burnt!! Gravy was lumpy and not stirred and the vegetables were ok. The whole meals were like warm.
However, the staff were lovely.

Just been for a meal with friends and the food was excellent, service was great and the staff very friendly. If I have a negative it would be the seating, I found them not comfortable so I really couldn't sit for more than an hour or so.

Disappointing overall, went on sunday, got the carvery, and it is prepacked boil in the bag vegetables and microwave meat. And then I thought, give it another chance, I went for Monday lunch offer, for sizzling platter. I first thought it's meat platter, but it is a sizzling plate with tiny bit of meat. The manager looks so miserable, but I have to say, I love the log fire. But, log fire doesn't make me to come back here. It has a reputation but it is just a hype. I am local resident in this area, and I go to boathouse inn pub in Saltaire to get a good food, and good service.

Great traditional pub on canal side.

The pub is traditional and offers numerous beers not to mention dog friendly too with a car park and beer garden by canal side.

Overall excellent service, beers and food, highly recommend.

Very good. Lovely and clean. Warmly received . My wife and I called for lunch Easter bank holiday Monday . Excellent home cooked food quickly served piping hot and very tasty . Reasonable value for money when you take into account portion size and quality. I was very impressed and understand that this pub has had a fair bit of mismanagement over the last few years, well it appears all that has changed. I can see this pub becoming a much frequented hostelry once again. So well done to the new owners .

After being ignored at the sun pub in cottingley we walked out and wondered where to go, I remembered the fisherman from years ago and what a pleasant experience.
The young bar man was extremely professional and polite, a really nice atmosphere, we will most definatley be calling again!

Had a Ploughmans today, if you could class it as a Ploughmans. One bit of cheese, bit of bread, half a pork pie and salad does not make a Ploughmans. Come on Fisherman's sort ya Ploughmans out.

Visited today with friends and my husband, who is disabled. It was lovely weather so we opted to sit in the outside area at the back of the pub. Wheelchair access was no problem as there is a slope, as well as steps, to the lower level. We chose a steak sandwich, fish and chips and burgers. The burgers were huge and delicious, as were the fish and steak sandwich. The chips were lovely. We have visited for a drink in the past with our two spaniels, but we didn't have them with us today. Dogs are welcome though, so we'll take them next time - Doggy snacks are for sale at the bar. A lovely meal and good atmosphere, we will definitely visit again.

This is a dog friendly pub with a good selection of local ales. You can enjoy a beer by the canal watching the world go by and the food is good too. The chips are gluten free which is a rarity and the steak was lovely.
