Staff are awful and ridiculously rude. How this place has any customers is beyond me, you're treated as an inconvenience that they have to serve you. It's in a lovely location and has the potential to do really well, just not with it's current management.

Good food and beer with excellent service. Ideally placed for walkers and boaters on the Leeds-Liverpool canal that runs past the pub.
Food is well presented, and generous portion sizes.
There is a beer garden, and also a few benches by the the canal.

All my fellow guests were happy with their meals, however I ordered the Sunday lunch which consisted of 1 roast potato 1 Yorkshire pudding 1 tablespoon of mash 2 slices of beef and a small plate of veg between 2 of us which would have cost More

We have stopped here on a few occasions while walking along the canal. The food is always tasty and the drinks are refreshing. There is quite a large beer garden at the rear which is pleasant on a sunny day, there is also a wooden seating area at the side of the canal where you can enjoy a drink or two.
Good pint alongside the Leeds/Liverpool Canal. Also popular for food.
Nice enough place..... not particularly cosy. Food menu nothing to get excited about but OK.
The only member of staff who I presumed was the landlord was professional and pleasant.
Cappuccino was very weak.
We did not eat but a table of 6 near us had food and they seemed quite happy with it.

Lovely place right next to the canal. We moored our boat up outside and had some lovely dinner here. Great selection of beers- including roosters. Already planning on coming back.
Booked a table but was squeezed into the tight corner? Food was average until the frozen dessert came - it wasn't supposed to be. Knocked off the bill. Hard to recommend I'm afraid

Had a first class meal which was very well presented as always.
Pie was incorrect had kidney and mushrooms when it should have been just steak and ale.

Not a bad public house generally. Location good. Variety of ales and lagers etc. Customers are friendly and pleasant. Staff could do with a social uplift in greeting customers who visit. Seemed like there was a negative atmosphere amongst staff which impacted upon my visit. 5 visitors came to the pub same time as me and no one signed the test and trace register so good luck if there is an outbreak and being contacted. All COVID 19 signage and instructions were subtle so no wonder there was ignorance of what was expected. Sign at bar saying keep bar clear but you have to order at bar. No 2m rule at the bar or enforcement. Quite disappointed and felt undervalued as a customer and not COVID safe. Think the reliance on its popularity due to its location is taken for granted. A great shame for me and my companion. Even forgot my request for a dog bowl. Only one sign noticed to inform of social distancing more signage saying not participating in eat out to help out and sticky table which means not cleaned deep enough properly with the right solution. I have been sat for 20 minutes and just seen first person sign track and trace log given to him by member of staff.
We were on the canal so great location. Ale was good, Timothy Taylor Landlord, well served. Just popped in for a drink so can't comment on food. Great outdoor spaces.

Very friendly service and nice rustic look to the inside. Enjoyed our lunch which was reasonably priced and noticed they have gluten free options too. Will be returning.
I really love this pub - it's always friendly and relaxed, and the food is excellent (huge portions!). Also nice selection of drinks including ales on draft. And it's a dog-friendly place, which gives it a lovely atmosphere (as well as gorgeous dogs to chat to!)

As lovely as ever, but could have done with more staff behind the bar
Decided to have a walk along the canal with my lass to goto the fishermans. Its got a great location, and you would think that the food would be just as great....well its terrible.
We both ordered steak and asked for them to be done medium rare. They came served well done, tough, gristly and on small fajitas griddle dishes. Everything else on the plate was from the freezer and overcooked.
To attempt to eat this food we had to use cutlery (which we had to get ourselves) that must of come from netto. No steak knife choice either.
The diane sauce that my wife asked for came from a tin.
The beer seemed to be overpriced as well.
After the first bite we wanted to send it back, but having not eaten for 7 hours we couldn't wait anymore.
Beer and Food are really good, but one person serving behind bar when the pub is packed, bit frustrating.
Lovely place to spend a nice relaxing evening, the food and service was excellent. Would highly recommend, manager of the establishment and bar staff could not do enough for our party of eight. A big thank you for going that extra mile for our lovely friend Chris who spent her last evening with us all before flying back to Cyprus

It's got charm and the food is above average. It lacks atmosphere though. It also seems to change management every 6 months.
Very nice little pub. Which after along and on the narrow boat we wanted somewhere to eat and drink. Good food well managed in the current times that we are in.
