Claims to be a bi level venue with balcony available to watch the show. Got there early because I don't always like being in the crowd so I got a spot on the balcony. Only after the first two acts did I get told to move off the balcony so the reserved seated partons could supposedly see. Near as I could tell I wasn't blocking anyone's view. So I was was stuck watching the headliner in the back of the main floor. Mind you the person who today me to move I saw multiple times earlier that night and she didn't say a thing. If I was told earlier I would have gone down earlier and got a better spot. Needless to say probably won't be going back.
Expensive drink prices, poor visibility and only adequate sound. It's no wonder they only get a few good acts a month. I'm still surprised the Fine Line is even open anymore.
Cool venue, it was small and not over crowded when we went to see Bob Moses and Dreamers. I would go here again.
The balcony level is great. If you can secure a rail table I highly recommend it. Especially if you have shorter people in your group.
It's like first Ave but smaller and everything costs more but is proportionally better and less grungy
Took my wife for our 41st anniversary to see wilder woods fabulous concert she had no clue watching her enjoy this venue made me happy please have wilder woods back sooner than later g-man
Went for comedy. Nice smaller place. Good sound, some bad seats due to columns but we were able to make it work.
Really cool venue! So small that it seems like you re at a private concert. We saw Bryce Vine and Kid Quill they were great! The upstairs was 21+ which we appreciated. Would go again.
I saw Propagandhi play there and it was fooking amazeballs. It's a great live music venue.
Been there twice and both times the drinks were super weak and way overpriced... Never again
I loved the show but even in mid-May, it got so hot there were many people near fainting.
Awesome space friendly staff and a wonderful sounding place the sound engineers really know what they are doing and you can hear the wisdom lol this place makes me
Partied Friday night with NPG and all the Prince fans! Great time!
Small venue for the younger crowd. We had fun seeing Lennon Stella.
Pretty fun little venue for music. Drinks are way too expensive.
Long wait for music to start. Standing the whole time (unable to get upstairs in balcony where limited seating). Front act terrible. Crowd rushed foward when music started making it difficult to see and uncomfortable.
Every time we played Fine Line, staff and crew was professional and kind.
We had a nice time! I'm no expert but the sound was good.
The worst venue I have ever been to. This was my 13th Roger Clyne and the Peacemakers concert and the first I have ever been asked to leave. The staff at the Fine Line was horrible other than the blonde bar tender. I spent my hard earned money and drove from Sioux Falls to Minneapolis to see RCPM only to get escorted out without a reasonable cause. When I asked why they gave me no reason. I'm extremely disappointed in the "manager" who was wearing camo shorts (because that's professional) that decided to kick out a loyal fan who has brought countless amounts of people to Roger Clyne concerts over the years including tonight. Last time I checked it's Peacemakers.. Nobody has ever started any trouble at any of their shows ever Iwasn't going to be the 1st. I was given no reason as to why I was being asked to leave, in fact I was forced to empty my drink (which my hard earned money went to) before I was thrown out. Multiple people who I had never met until tonight came outside with stating they had no idea why this was happening. I will continue to support RCPM, but never again at the Fine Line. I'm embarrassed and extremely disappointed in their staff. I came a long way to support this band at their venue and to buy drinks only to be unprofessionally thrown out. The Fine Line has some serious Management issues that don't comply with "Minnesota Nice" or basic business principles. I will never recommend this venue to anyone who wants to have a good time.
Excellent venue for live music of all types, 2 levels to view the stage from, large dance floor area, great sound system. Parking next to it is $15.00 so park down the street for a lot less.
Seems like fine line has gone downhill in the past years as far as service and crowds at events
Standing space for a concert. As that goes, it was ok.
Here for a concert and the bartenders were just amazing. Sold out show and the area was spacious and they also have a balcony.
Very nice place for a concert venue. But I've never liked when the stage is crammed against a wall in a corner.
I will start with the positives first. The venue has very good acoustics. Normally, hip hop shows are all bass, and you can't hear the words. That was not the case here. It didn't matter if we were on the ground, or balcony. The music sounded good. Also, the transition from one performer to the next was very quick. There wasn't much of a break between, which was nice. I've been to other places where the next performer takes 25 minutes to get started. That's about all I can say for the positives.
The Fine Line seems to have some very shady business practices. I bought advanced tickets to see Rittz and KXNG Crooked with my cousin. The doors were supposed to open at 7:30, and we got there about 8:30. The line was about a block long. They had a guy going up and down the line saying we could upgrade to vip tickets for $20, and get in faster. That's what we ended up doing, as we would have been outside for awhile longer. I think they purposely make the general admission line slow, so people upgrade. I'm not sure if the establishment takes that extra money, or if it goes to the artists, but I'm thinking the performers don't see a dime of it.
After paying $20 to upgrade, we have to pay another $3 "building fee" before we enter the venue. I ask the guy why are we being nickled and dimed. His response was, "You don't want to get shot, do you?" So we finally get in, and proceed to go to the balcony for the vip's. A bouncer stops us, saying we need wristbands. We told him we upgraded outside and weren't given one. Not his problem. We then have to go back out, and argue with Mr. Wristband holder to get one. After all that, we get up to the balcony, with our own private bar. Finally, another positive about the Fine Line. Nope, there is one bartender getting people drinks. The wait is very long, and drinks are expensive. I figured the drinks would be, as it's downtown Minneapolis. Expect to pay $9 for a vodka/redbull in a small plastic cup.
So, I'm not impressed at all with the business aspect of the Fine Line. It's too bad, as the venue is solid for watching a hip hop show. I suppose if there is another show there, I could just get a vip ticket ahead of time, or wait in line an hour before the doors open to get in faster. I'd much rather spend my money at the Skyway Theater, Cabooze, or Varsity Theater.
Great club. Sound is always good and it's the right size for seeing bands.
Intimate venue but staff is unfair and rude. I spent about $500 for hotel, uber, sitter and VIP tickets for NYE. Was there with a group of 10 - was told had to leave before the main artist performed. My husband was dancing and apparently bumped into someone and that was the end all. Had to leave. Very disappointed. Never waste my money and time again.
Low ceiling in the rear is annoying , and visibility is oddly horribly near the back. Worse than any other venue for some reason. Maybe the stage is lower. Clean facility though!
There needs to be seating on the lower level. Otherwise there is too much pushing and shoving and drinks spilled on you. We really loved NPG but left early because of that. When you have drinking and people pushing and spilling drinks there is too much opportunity for trouble. Other than that it was a very nice venue!
We'd forgotten our hearing protection, but they were able to supply us a spare pair. I really appreciated that.
The venue itself is small and nicely sized. I was not over whelmed and had a great view from the bar. I felt safe but not overly searched like other venues. I enjoyed the whole experience
The ambience is outstanding. What a great place to see live music! The service I got was very professional. The bartenders were quick. We reserved an upstairs table that had a great view. Outstanding!
Nice small venue. Very expensive if you plan on eating or drinking.
Lots of great shows to go to, but unless you're in the front or over 6 feet tall, it's nigh impossible to actually see the band.
I've been to two different shows, tried both the main floor and the balcony. Left early both times because I had nothing to look at besides the back of the person in front of me.
The bar also doesn't carry much for non-drinkers. If you're the designated driver be prepared for water or red bull.
Saw Alex Cameron here. Great venue and great crowd. The show was amazing!
Cozy intimate setting for a show with an overlook balcony.
Such a great music venue, easy parking, saw Colter Wall on a Tuesday night and it was great.
The place is intimate enough without being crowded. There are tables at the loft that provide great views while you enjoy drinks from a bar right behind you. Really, there isn't any bad spot to see the stage. The restrooms are clean and well maintained. Staff is courteous and attentive
Came here for the Glass Animals concert; insane experience.
This is a fantastic venue for small intimate concerts and the staff here were very kind
Need to add a cloth-entry wrap to block the cold when the doors open. When the venue is full people towards the back repeatedly get BLASTED with the cold air. Drinks are insanely overpriced.
Still love small Minneapolis venues and I m sure I ll return. But they could make some improvements for the concert goers with the surcharge on their beers. If I recall my 2 beers and 2 shots of fireball was $30+ tip. That s nuts to me. That was more than the ticket to the show.
A pretty good place for a concert, if you like a more intimate, bar-band type of experience. There isn't a bad spot in the place.
Meh. Bar staff and other staff nice. Small venue for more intimate interaction with bands.
Saw Wilder Woods here. If you haven't heard of him, check him out! Great venue, we were able to get a reserved table in the balcony which I prefer to general admission. They had great sound and it was a very intimate venue, so you can be close to the band!
What a cool venue for a concert. I really appreciated the ADA seating.
Only good for chill shows, but if there is a hint at moshing, they try to kick you out. It happened to one of my friends. This place also making me write a petition to get Deafheaven to a different venue because of it.
Saw Goat Girl and Parquet Courts! Great show, easy parking. Great small venue!
I have seen approximately 4 live music events here and I have decided to avoid this club due to the level of pretentiousness of the audiences it attracts. The drinks are overpriced & the attitude is not welcoming. I advise avoiding this club as you can find much more inviting circumstances many other places. I also wasn't impressed with the sound quality.
Went to see a band called Pvris a month or 2 ago.
Venue was clean and sound quality was pretty good. Which is expected since a college for music production is next door :)
Drinks were kind of expensive especially for an all ages show, 4 stars.
Great venue! Good layout and lots of space upstairs to sit and watch if you don't want to stand.
Crappy place to see a metal show. Kicked me out for no reason.
Great venue! Super friendly staff/security! Felt very welcome!!!
Show a food menu on their website but no food any more.
No frills live music bar....good sound....somewhat small for the level of talent they draw....staff seemed nice overall....the worst part of the place....its location.....
It's on "bar row" in DT Mpls....that is a complete disaster zone on a weekend night.
As I left the location on our last outing....there was a fight/shooting across the street at one bar....there were police officers everywhere....and a car of four young "urban youth" found it their place to yell "whiteys suck" as we all left the bar as they were trying to shoot people with a squirt gun...all while the officers did nothing.
Fine Line... do all of us a favor....move....its clear your location can host solid tallent with good staff... but until DT Mpls can get its act together....unless it's a cant miss show....I'll never go back....
Such a great venue to see an artist! I walked in 20 minutes after doors expecting to not have a good view, and to be super far in the back, but I was fortunate enough to make my way up to about 4-5 rows close to the stage. I actually flew all the way out from Seattle because Sigrid wasn't playing there, and this was one of the smaller venues that she was playing, and I'm so glad I did. Highly recommend seeing music here.
Went to my first concert here a couple of months ago and had SO much fun! It s a standing room with tables and chairs up top in a balcony. Be prepared to be backed in like sardines for your favorite band s performance! It was a blast!
Great venue with an upstairs level makes watching the performances even better!
Have seen a few shows here and the sound quality and volume has been spot on. Nothing but Thieves and Atlas genius shows we're both phenomenal! As well as having that up close with the band only a small venue can give you (without breaking the bank).
Great acoustics for the music! Unbelievablely expensive drinks...
First of THIS IS NOT A CAFE !! They DO NOT SERVE FOOD!!!
Parking was $20 - But the City Parking Lot sign reads "5-6HRS = $12"..... SO BE AWARE OF THAT TRICK!!
The Band insisted we pay $55 CASH ONLY at the door for Tix we could have purchased on-line for $45.... ( ..... okay ..... I get the extra $10, but WHY CASH ONLY....!) if U are from out of town , how would U know this...???
And NO FOOD!!!???? The "Bartender Girl" handed me a Menu from a Pizza TakeOut Joint to "order a pizza on Your own." - So NOOOOW .... I gotta STAND NEAR THE DOOR TO WAIT FOR A PIZZA DELIVERY GUY.....
Sorry Minneapolis!! This place is a 0 STARS.... but I can't give that score or I would.....
The Band we went to see was MOST EXCELLENT..., BUT THIS JOINT HAS VERY POOR SERVICE..... Avoid it If U can..!!
The show was great .
Opening act was very entertaining and funny.
Jamestown Revival was excellent !
Amazing staff, good booking, good sound and lights. It's a great venue, if a little small. But it's perfect for bands too big to play the entry and too small for the main room at first avenue.
Small intimate venue for shows. Drinks are a little expensive. Bathrooms are hard to get to because they're behind the stage so you have to fight through the crowd. No parking but lots of surface Lots within a couple blocks that you can pay for.
I recently went to a concert this past weekend and I had a blast. Awesome bartenders and a great audio system there. I had such a good time that I left my ID and Debit card and they were helpful enough to find it and mail it to me the same day as I live In Wisconsin. Definitely went above and beyond just to help out a customer. I would go back if I had the opportunity!
Great place for music! The bands that play here are always talented touring groups and the occasional local Minnesota band. I highly suggest going to the balcony and watching a show from there.
Great smaller venue. Seen the Strumbellas twice there, amazing!
For the size of the venue, I was very very impressed. The bartenders were incredibly fast for the number of people in attendance. The security team was professional. Green Room was convenient and had ample room. Will definitely go back if I'm ever in the area!
A friend and I had arranged to get a spot with the chair as we cant stand but somehow they didnt get that message with our name on the list! After going round and round with the person in chaege he gave us a table chair to sit in the corner.Well we were eye level with everyones buts!!So I went and asked if we could get a stool against the wall and fineally brought us a stool which was higher so we could see.As the person in charge brought the stools a lady tried to take one and he explained we had arranged for a handicapped seat. She got mad and slamed the chair down and said FINE ENJOY the show!!So why cant there be tables back in the carpet or by the wall to accomidate the customers and if a person needs handicapp to put thei name down!!!Marty Stuart was GREAT!!Thanks for the great show!
