Small menu ( 5 mains available but changed frequently ) plus starters and desserts. We had the shoulder of lamb with roast potatoes and veg. Very tasty but one portion had a lot of fat. Nice for a change but won't be a regular haunt.

I go here with my family for Sunday dinner whenever I come to visit the North East. A real gem! The food is always amazing and the staff are always extremely friendly and welcoming. Highly recommended if you have the chance to go. It is very popular, however, so I recommend booking ahead if you are a large group or are going around a busy time.

As others have said it's very nice but expensive for what you get.Menu didn't have that much on it. You just want more for the money. The meal was over quickly. But it was all very, very nice. Good handpulls so no complaint there.

This is hands down my favourite pub/food in the North East. Modernised traditional dishes cooked to perfection. Generous portions, home baked desserts and modest but delicious wine selection. Staff are down to earth and have good chat. You will not be disappointed by anything on the menu here!

Superb little pub with fantastic food and great real ales. The staff make you feel so welcome as do the locals. After only 3 days we were honorary locals. Don't pass by here without paying a visit.

Exceptionally good local food in a nice country pub. Look out for special nights were they do interesting food and drink. They have two dishes which are a must eat, the black pudding and the burnt cream! Staff are always helpful and knowledgeable about the food.
