The Epic Hotel - The River Lounge Review

It s lovely on the outside but the staff no so much. The valet was terribly backed up to drop off & even worse when leaving. The restaurant was closed in the middle of afternoon. There was no directions given to place orders accept to order poolside but there wasn t staff to take orders.. the bartenders were rude & didn t want to take food orders just drinks... management was unavailable even thought we sat for 2 hours eating our food & waited for a manager that never came. This was not a great experience the room wasn t clean, there was a champagne bottle & 1/2 eaten chocolates on the patio when we checked in ... where is the COVID deep cleaning...We had to be moved..
The only person that was helpful was Mr Sosa from engineering department.

My room was on the 27th floor and the view was gorgeous. My husband and I ate on the balcony and the weather was perfect. The shower was amazing. The whole room was amazing. I would definitely stay here again. I loved it. Staff was super friendly and helpful

In room dining is a complete joke. We have stayed here three times and they haven't gotten our order correct once and regularly lose orders. Customer service is definitely not worthy of the price. When we checked into our one room suite we were greeted with cigarette butts on the balcony and a stained couch. This place is not what it used to be.

Location is good .. bed wasn't comfortable enough! .. I tried 2 rooms .. one was new furnished and very good, the other was older and has less maintenance .. the space of the rooms was excellent good view in general .. my second room have a sea view .. you can see the cruise port bathrooms in both rooms were so good the breakfast restaurant wasn't that good ..

I had a panoramic view from my room,me and my wife were celebrating her Birthday so we enjoyed ourselves, Gene the concierge was very knowledgeable we love this hotel.

This place truly is a gem. With great views, updated rooms, and EPIC staff we will be back. Best Kimpton property I've stayed at yet....

All Pools are not heated and the main pool is not that great . They are also under construction and the city views are not that good.

my experience was a disaster, the fatal service, there was an event (concert and pool party) the valet parking was out of order, I paid 50 dollars of Valet at 8:15 pm and I was waiting more than four hours, my car was delivered at 00 : 17 a.m. There was no manager, no boss to talk to and who to ask for an explanation, this is not the first time that happens to me, the first time I wait 30 minutes for my car. It is a nice hotel with good view, ideal for those who do not drive or have a car. of rest do not even think about using the valet service or expect to have the solution of a manager.

This hotel is Excellent! Stunning view of the bay, downtown Miami, and Brickell. Great restaurants, staff, and service!

The entire hotel is beautiful very clean the food very delicious the spectacular atmosphere is a bit expensive per night but it is well worth the view from the restaurant is BEAUTIFUL

An excellent hotel has very good rooms has very good rooms very well decorated I quite like the place it has a very calm atmosphere, it rests very comfortably in this place, the beds are comfortable, and the rooms are very clean

Great hotel. We had a junior suite (comp upgrade). Beautiful rooftop bar/pool area. The views are gorgeous. Hotel is in a convenient location. Very comfortable stay. Would definitely return. This is downtown so a lot of construction going on nearby. I can see this part of town being a big competitor to south beach in years to come. A lot of upscale restaurants over the bridge along Brickell Ave. highly enjoyed Boulud Sud across the street.

Hotel is great, their spa company, Exhale, sucks. Exhale cannot keep great yoga instructors and there fore provide a lot of HORRIBLE yoga classes. Want to be disappointed? Go to Exhale.

I stayed here for two nights.. nothing felt 5 star other than the expensive charges for everything, (and the location to be fair)
1- the pool was closed because there was some maintenance. ( no further notice)
2- the balcony in my room was dirty.
3- the floor in room 2111 is weirdly not flat!
4- I ask them to empty the minibar (I have a kid and I did not want him to use anything) they said there is $35 dollar charge! So I stayed for two days guarding it from him! I am 100% sure nothing was touched ... but guess what! After checking out I received a charge for $13 for minibar item .. I contacted the hotel they said it was for water, and they will check with the housekeeper and they never refunded anything.
5- They charged me $7 for the toothbrush (they never stated it is for extra!
6- the room does not have a coffee machine you have to ask for it (and then tip the room service!)
7- everyone is looking for tips there (get a lot of cash)
8- No laundry facilities.

We pay more to get more not to lose more!

Very nice Downtown Miami Hotel. Very, very helpful and polite staff. In town for tennis on Key Biscayne so I did not avail myself of all amenities but great location downtown, nice view and equally nice room. Would like to see more extensive in-room dining menu. That being said the somewhat limited menu was good. Excellent timely service!

Wonderful view and very accommodating staff. Our dogs loved it too.

This hotel is in a great location close to Brickell and the Cruise Port. In front of the hotel, there is a very nice fountain/sculpture and many luxury cars parked. (I got a pic of a Lamborghini) The lobby was spacious and modern, and the receptionist was very friendly. We had originally booked a Cityview Junior Suite, and she upgraded us to a waterview 1-bedroom suite. This room was AMAZING, and definitely worth buying an upgrade for. The decor felt very modern yet comfortable (this hotel was recently renovated.) It had a large L-sofa (can be made to a bed) and a separate bedroom with panoramic windows. The bathroom was great, with a large rainforest shower and bathtub. It also had its own balcony with nice views. The
main balcony was accessible from the living
room. The views from here were INCREDIBLE!
Easily the best city views I ve ever seen. Directly below the hotel is a drawbridge which
is very interesting to look at. You can also watch the boats that are coming through the
canal. If that isn t enough for you, you can
watch the city happenings, look at the luxury that are yachts parked below, check out what s going on at the cruise port, or have a peek at the Kimpton pool (depending what floor you are on). The pool area was very nice and had plenty of cabanas.(we didn t use the pool as it was December when we were there) Finally, Zuma, the sushi restaurant at the hotel had excellent service and great food, but that is for another review. Hope you have a good

Bful hotel ,modern,clean,very proffesional personnel, valey parking.
We stayed on 27th floor,beautiful city views.
The pool is on the 16th floor,two separate pools bar area ,and the killer views.

My wife, dog and I have stayed here for Thanksgiving a few years and enjoy it every time. The location is great - fisherman's wharf, cable car turnaround, pier 39, Ghibelline square, and the large park right next door that is very handy when traveling with a dog. Can't wait to go back.

Love the gym and spa facilities at this hotel. They do great high energy group classes and have top of the line equipment. It's a very relaxing atmosphere.

Fantastic hotel, very clean and the view from the pool and balcony is superb. The only tricky part is how you get there; the two intersections just before arriving can be quite tricky to navigate.

Have been coming here for years, and it never disappoints in any way. Excellent staff, fantastic rooms and so comfortable beds. Brunch was tasty as well. Always a great stay... though I miss the goldfish!

Very nice, the restaurant was amazing! The room was gorgeous.

Very good view, and excellent comfort, I really like the zuma restaurant, and good position for all the bars and restaurants in the area, near the bridge to cross to south beach. The driver way is uncomfortable, and the valet gets a lot of traffic, otherwise everything is super.

Any Kimpton hotel is great but Miami might be the best. Terrific front desk people and a nice clean room overlooking the pool and river. Zuma tonite for dinner.

We enjoyed Happy Hour at Area 31; although the outdoors patio was closed because it was very windy and there was so much construction nearby.

Staff was less than attentive when driving up to valet took 5 minutes to be recognized while staff was chatting amongst each other. Room service was unavailable in the morning so they provide a coffee in the lobby the coffee was just about lukewarm. The concierge seem too busy on his computer to give much information. The balcony was in poor shape..
The room decor was unimpressive I've stayed at other Kimptons this morning Miami fell far short of my expectations.
I feel like I wasted my money.

Home of Area 31 with Miami highrise views. Brickell happy hour on Fridays until 11pm. However, it seems to have a strugling management.

Very nice and lovely. Highly recommend stay there. Ultra central to walk up and down downtown. Location is perfect. Amenities are very nice.

The service and amenities at the Epic are phenomenal - specifically, Stephanie R., Benny & his partner in crime behind the bar at Area 31, Christopher the Bellman, and our Room Attendant, Yukori (sp?), all went out of their way to make us feel welcome and appreciated. Thank you for an incredible trip!

The experience from checking in and out was top notch! Valet, doorman, front desk were so friendly. Check-in was a breeze. Valet is $44 tho so that is quite normal for Miami I guess?

Hotel lobby is super clean and give the VIP vibe. they have hand sanitizers everywhere. I didn t get to use any of the amenities cause some were closed during the pandemic.

I highly recommend the EPIC 29 water view if you ever have the chance. Sitting in the balcony at night looking at the views was so nice. I love how updated the room is. Ceiling to floor windows make the view even better. They even have a yoga mat in the room! Deep soaking tub was my favorite just to relax in it.

I wish it would have come with a robe and a fridge but other than that everything about this hotel will give you the VIP feels!

HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE, very disappointed. My boyfriend and I were vacationing with another couple. We booked 2 rooms for a few nights at almost $400 a night. We were excited to be staying here.

Our friends, the other couple, arrived first, only for the front desk to turn them away and tell them that our reservations had been bumped to another hotel. Apparently, the hotel was closed to the public due to some sporting event. They didn't even bother telling us in advance. Their excuse? They didn't have our contact info.

Anyway, you would think that for the inconvenience, some sort of courtesy or voucher would be offered. But nope, nothing. We just got bumped to a hotel that didn't even have free wifi. Kimpton epic? Try EPIC fail.

We stayed here 1 night before going on a cruise. The hotel was clean and seemed very nice for the 1 day and night we were there. The breakfast was pretty good. The only other thing I can think of is the security. To get to your floor you need to put your room card in the elevator to get to your floor. Was a nice hotel for just 1 night.

Nice hotel and good rooms. Most (not all) of the pool staff service was quite mediocre. I was waiting for my room and came to check out the facility finishing a small pastry when I was rudely stopped by this African american man that said No outside food in the pool . Not the welcoming you would expect. I respect rules but how would I know that! Maybe he should be trained to say instead: Good Morning mam we re so sorry but... I beg your pardon ....

Modern resort in a very central location. Amazing views and food! We have stayed here numerous times in the last year and it's the only hotel I would recommend. The rooms are spacious and the balconies are unlike any other in the downtown area (large, clean, and incredible views). The pool area and restaurants are very nice as well!

Beautiful hotel, spacious rooms. Amenities are scaled back a bit due to COVID but we still enjoyed our stay.

This hotel is amazing, the rooms are fantastic, the view is great, the welcome was very friendly. I'm here attending a Friesland Campina event and I would diffenitely return on my own again anytime in the future.

Beautiful property, good food and comfortable meeting spaces. Needs improvement with valet parking process especially since 3rd Avenue traffic heads right into entryway of hotel.

The hotel was beautiful. There was a doorman who opened the door and greated us. Check in was quick. They allowed us to check in early. The room was clean with great service. There were close by stored to grab wine and snacks. Check out was easy. Someone helped us load our luggage into the car. It was a very great experience.

Minus a couple of stars for the fact that we ve been waiting for 40 minutes to get the raw oysters, reminding them about out order every 10 minutes. Didn t wanna leave the place as we ve been there before and our experience was great: cool dj, amazing views, nice cocktails. So we waited and yea, the second time our being there happened to be a huge disappointment.

Out of all hotels in Miami I chose Epic. On my Birthday Upon check in the front desk within 60 seconds recommended other properties for me to stay at. Rosie attitude was ignorant and unprofessional. I felt unwanted and after traveling from NYC it was unacceptable. There were 8 bellman outside at my Arrival NONE of them helped me out the car or helped with bags and also did the same when I checked out. I stayed 3 nights and not 1 day did cleaning service even attempt to come into my room for maintenance. When coming to my room after a night on the town my key cards did not work at all. My city view was a EPIC mess. I was very much so treated differently from everyone else, I saw some guests get great warm greetings while I received a ignore. My final day I woke up to construction right above my room that woke me at 9am, I called for a late check out because I was awaken and they said No. if you are anything other than a Caucasian Male or Female, you are NOT wanted at the Epic Hotel! Stay at a property that will value you as a human being, a customer and treat you equally. It's a fabulous hotel, however they aren't prejudice!

Went for Happy hour, loved the ambience. Packed with happy people.

Booked a room with double bed but it turned out they are full size beds. This was very disappointing. Other than that, this hotel is pretty good.

So I do visit this hotel very often cause of the pool side bar that has a Happy Hour that I attend but I've never had to stay at the hotel since I am local to Miami. However one weekend our AC broke and we had to look for a place to stay for the weekend until our AC was...

Excellent hotel with incredible rooms. Highly recommended.

We were there last month and had a bad experience and never received a follow up from the hotel. Due to a faulty door, my wife's hand was crushed in the hotel room. There was blood on the floor and it was a devastating experience. After the engineer and the management came to the room, they saw that the door was defective and helped us switch rooms. But after that, we never received any follow up or further looking into what happened. This really hurt us.

Was upgraded to a fantastic suite. Amazing view and luxurious accommodation. Sadly the service of the staff let down the overall rating. Slightly rude and abrupt when I had pointed out a mistake during my billing.

Overall an enjoyable experience. It could be a better hotel by improving communication with guests.

Very rundown, not worth the money. Didn t meet my expectations

On entering the hotel I was impressed and excited. But the suite was not at at 5 star. Had a few issues but the reception staff were helpful. The room was not cleaned thoroughly as I would expect, especially as I have a crawling baby I was worried about him crawling around on the floor. The food in the hotel was good, enjoyed the restaurant. Probably wouldn't stay here again however.
