Really nice old fashioned hotel with excellent service. Why it got only 4 stars is that the bathroom was super small and the toilet right after the door. You literally had to step over the toilet when entering the bathroom.

Stayed at the Eliot for a night in Boston with my family. Service was wonderful, they even had a bowl waiting in the room for our dog. Not our first stay at the Eliot, and certainly not our last!

Rooms and staff are great. Don't bother with the Breakfast at Uni unless you want cooked breakfast with eggs. Oatmeal and continental bowls are tiny portions, and a side order of toast was 4 dollars for 2 slices.

Cleanliness 5/5

One of the best hotels I have stayed ever.
The staff was very helpful, starting from the doorman to the front desk. Just a five minute walk from the Prudential mall and Newbury street in Backbay..! Could not have asked for a better location.

I would 100% recommend to stay at this hotel.

10/6/2018 Extremely Disappointed! I usually stay at the Ritz or a quick overnight at the Hotel Commonwealth. I will return to my routine! When I checked in another guest was yelling at the desk staff. When I arrived onto my floor, it was sweltering, and my room was worse. I turned the air conditioning down low, and when I returned to my room the rug was soaked. The television didn't work. I called the desk to report this after midnight when I got back to my room. The next morning, the person at the front desk offered me a complimentary breakfast when I was leaving for my run and again when I checked out. I asked him if he was seriously offering me two eggs for a $330 dollar a night room with wet carpet and a broken television. He said, "Yes." I won't be back.

Every detail of your stay is taken care of when you arrive. They valet your car at a reasonable $48/day. We never touched a bag or elevator key because the very attentive staff was there at every turn waiting to help. They did so with a smile as well! The room itself is clean, large and cozy. The walk-in shower was delightful. They have a green policy/ conservation approach that I truly appreciate. Have to love a place with social conscience. The location is awesome. We walked everywhere with ease and you even have decent views from the rooms. The restaurant seemed great though we didn't eat at there. Clearly this staff is well managed and happy. Highly recommend this hotel.

Absolutely would NOT recommend a regular room. Our room had one window which was above the alley. Every day, around 4am, they would empty the trash below and bottles would come crashing down. Every. Day. Plus the room is the size of a shoe box. And the walls are very, very thin.

This review is for Uni, the restaurant attached to the Eliot Hotel. We came here at 10:30pm on Saturday hoping to try the late night menu and were not disappointed. We got a drink while the kitchen transitioned to their late night menu - a refreshing sake cocktail that was light, crisp, and just a tad sweet. Then ordered the kimchee rice cakes, the pork bao, and the veggie ramen with pork. Everything was excellent, with the pork bao being a great combination of fatty and crispy and the veggie ramen broth having surprising depth of flavor, difficult to achieve without the pork/chicken bones. My only complaints was I wish there had been more rice cakes in the kimchee dish and that there had been less pickled slaw on the bao. We rounded out the evening with the dessert - a chocolate ice cream sandwich with mango ice cream: delicious. Service was prompt and funny as well. All in all we spent $69, will be back again.

Love this hotel

Love this hotel
I just loved the atmosphere in and around this lovely hotel. Staff, room and location were all excellent! Breakfast in bed was so good too! I loved the way the room was decorated and that there was a separate living area. A rare find! Looking forward to our stay again next week

I have never stayed here and am leaving 5 stars just for the doormen. I work down the street and walk by them every day....no matter what the weather is like, they are out there and sometimes direct traffic because that intersection is horrible. Good people.

I stayed in a suite at the Eliot with my wife, and two young kids. Our king bed was nothing special, The mattress on the pullout couch was awful and unsupported. If anyone larger than a toddler where to sleep on the pullout it would have been very uncomfortable. We had trouble with getting the stroller into the hotel and the staff didn't seem to care to help. The bathroom was substandard for a hotel at this price point.

The location was good.

If you're into classic 1920's Boston and prefer boutique vs chain hotels, stay at the Eliot. We had a beautiful old world style suite that was very clean. Friendly staff and perfect location for access to Newbury Street and the Hynes Convention Center.

I was able to attend the sushi bar attached to the eliot hotel. It was late night but the service was fast and the food was good. Everything was on the pricier side and it was a more upscale place.

The location in the Back Bay area of Boston is great. The next stop for the subway just around the corner. The hotel itself convinces by cleanliness, very helpful and friendly staff and a pleasant decor.

I cannot say enough about the fabulous Eliot Hotel. We adored our suite and we were so impressed by the attentiveness of the staff. What a gorgeous historic spot in a perfect location. The furnishings were beautiful, the bathroom so pretty, and the layout of the space so charming. Thank you!

Great staff and lovey rooms. Price is okay too. Sadly I had suite 112 which is next to elevator and you could hear that and talking for a while. Also we booked with breakfast but when you get there it s actually a continental breakfast (read piece of toast and pasty) as opposed to a normal breakfast (which you need to pay $15-30 for). Perhaps this is the American way and I ve been spoilt by Asian and European hotels but I chopped a star as it feels like a ripoff. Apart from that all excellent.

Great front desk staff at check in. The suite was large, well decorated, and a great value relative to other hotels in the area. The service was wonderful. I've stayed at much more expensive hotels that couldn't get it right when you ask a room service server for extra pillows or call down at an odd hour for some minor housekeeping need, but the Eliot did it all. Wish I had reserved a spot for dinner earlier at Clio, as spots fill up early on the weekends, but that's my fault. Overall, a great experience.

A fantastic welcome in a charming hotel. Sadly, only stayed the one night but could not have been happier with the shower kit for my 2 year old and the comfort of our room. Will stay again....and again.

The Eliot is an elegant and refreshing hotel and I wholeheartedly recommend it. If you are queasy about spending the dough, it's really well worth it: sumptuous, fresh linens, quiet, unfussy but deferent and courteous staff, and understated design make this a win. I understand the temptation to hit up more trendy hotels but this is a true hotel in every sense of the word: classic, charming, and not overstated and oversized. Their bottom line is not money - it's your comfort.
