Classic old school diner, with a modern look. The menu is huge, and everything is delicious. In my opinion you knows it's a good diner when matzah ball soup is always available. Anytime my wife and I pass through NJ The Edison Diner is a guaranteed stop.

Yummy

Classic diner with extensive menu. Breakfast specials from 6-11am include coffee and juice. Environment is very noisy with loud, heavy metal music, and booth seating is tight. But, portions are generous, menu is reasonably priced and service was very good. Mixed feelings about returning because of the noise and unpleasantly loud music.

The server was terrible. She wasn't attentive, I had to ask for things several times, she never refilled our water. Thank God the food was delicious a it always is. I'll just make sure I don't sit in her section anymore

I have never gone on social media give my opinion before, but as a server of 27 years and now an employee at the Edison diner, I have to say I sooo happy to have this job. I finally work at a diner thats totally organized, where my Co workers are extremely friendly and helpful..that includes management..Although I don't know the owner to well, from what I hear he is a great guy..The place is clean, the computer set up the best I ever worked with, And most important, we are treated like human beings, not machines...This place put almost ever diner I've worked in to shame...I love my job now...And a happy employee makes all the difference......

look, I'm not one to hate on others but they practically just asked for it. the rudest of God's creation. they had to make the worst food and give it to very hungry people. even then, we couldn't dare to eat it. pasta was definitely boiled in dirty water. I was scared he spit in my food before he brought it out. the waiter was staring at us the whole night...was he waiting till I ate the piece with his spit? hmmmm? find out on the next episode of "Edison Diner: 65 years of damaging the community"

If I could leave 0 stars I would. This place was disgusting from the food to the customer service to the unprofessional manager. I m so disappointed and will never come back. A waste of money.

I'm just going to get right to the point and honest, the food was fresh, hot, loved the portions of my food those signature big diner pancakes. Just what I wanted out of a diner. My server was so polite, patient and one thing I noticed is that he stayed near by so that if we needed anything he would be there right away and that was very nice.oh and the menu options are huge and there open 24 hours yay!
Not one to sugar coat especially about food places but I would definitely recommend Edison Diner to anyone . One thing is the man that seated us did not wait to see if we followed him to show us our seat and because he walked off so fast we didn't know where he went to know where we being seated .

Very nice.

If you're hungry for some homestyle food before crossing the bridge over the Raritan River to Central Jersey, this is your last chance you shouldn't pass up. They always say to save the best for last. You might have already tried the rest up in this end of North Jersey, so maybe it's time you tried the best. I thought my town, Manalapan, had a really awesome diner that had a lot of good food but honestly, The Edison Diner put it to shame!

Now, when I first skimmed through the menu, I noticed that a lot of the dinner choices were preceded by a curious paragraph that caught my attention. Almost every section of the lunch/dinner menu, including the daily special, came with a full course dinner and not just a "soup OR salad." It got me feeling a little skeptical at first, to be honest, because it is uncommon for a diner to simply throw a full course dinner at you for a reasonable price. Let alone their daily specials getting the same treatment, I was sure that something was funky about the portion sizes or something.

So I went ahead and got a Thursday special of an 18oz Roasted Prime Rib of Beef (Just over $21). Get this: It came with a soup (I chose Matzoh Ball), salad (House Salad w/ Caesar Dressing), a side dish of vegetables (I chose Spinach & Rice), potato/linguine/some other side dish (I chose mashed potatoes w/ gravy), and a dessert (s'mores ice cream, oh my!) Needless to say, I got my fill of dinner for the entire night! For me, the portion sizes were generous and got me perfectly content with my filling-up (and that's coming from a big guy, keep in mind.) It's quite a lot and I was really impressed with how much was served up. That's how a full-course dinner is meant to be served this diner gets it!

Finally, the service at this diner was something also worth complimenting. Most other diners have the "blues" snobbish attitude during the dinner rush or during a weekday. This one. This one threw the typical image of the blues away and showed true professionalism and good attitude towards all diners (including myself.) The upper middle-age gentleman who served me and my friend on the Thursday night we went was well, a gentleman who didn't complain and was serious about the ones he served. I couldn't have asked for a better waiter. The people working here had a positive attitude the entire time I was there, so some other diners in the area should learn how this diner is doing it right!

Overall, I have to applaud this diner for being able to denounce my favour-ism from my local diners around me and claim my new favourite to The Edison Diner. Their food, attitude and value have led me to really love this place. It's a great spot for an excellent dinner at a great price and generous portions. I have nothing bad to say about this place, honestly. I'll be there again sometime soon!

I hate to give bad reviews, but this place is not worth your time or money. Slow to be seated (even though it was almost 10 PM on a Sat night and the place was not busy at all), but once seated, the waiter was attentive and quick (thus, 1 star).
Ordered a veggie omelette, but would have liked to let the cook know that using canned mushrooms is VERY noticeable in this type of dish and not tasty at all. In addition to that, the omelette had no flavor at all as it seems no spices, salt or anything was used in it. The home fries were a sloppy, tasteless mess...again, no spices, salt, onions, nothing. The best part if the meal was the buttered whole wheat toast!
Overall, overpriced for horrible food.
Aside from the food, the bathroom was filthy...no toilet paper in 2 of the 3 stalls, no soap in 1 dispenser, paper all over the floor. Gross in general, but for a food establishment??!! I at least did my part and told a server to have it tended to.
My advice? Keep driving.

Great choice, good food, price very reasonable. Most meals include bowl of soup, salad and desert with entree. And usually have extra to bring home. Personal favorite is the Asian vegetable stir fry.
