Nothing great about this place except for the location, can be avoided.
Good location but nothing more than that. I understand there has been some renovations since I was there so hopefully hotel is in better shape now.
Called to find out info on parking before making an online reservation was put on hold after fifteen minutes I hung up and saved my money.
Friendly staff plus Miami Beach at a walking distance made this place awesome.
Booked through TripAdvisor, which apparently didn't confirm our reservation. It took an hour to check in, so we waited from 10PM to 11PM for our room. Once we got there our keys did not work. The room also does not have a double lock, which makes it fell less secure. The bed is not very comfortable either. You get what you pay for.
The best of this hotel is its position. But my room is next to the resturants street. The loud pub music can make you fail to fall asleep. Now it is past 12 am, but still very noisy outside.
Very nice place to spend your nights ..... Very friendly, the room was very nice, good uvicacion, especially clean the room is very important k I recommend .......
Super good attention. They all speak Spanish and are super predisposed. With the payment of resot free they give you beach service although it is not mentioned. Simple but comfortable. It has a minibar and coffee maker (Every day they give you water and capsules for coffee)
Perfect location.
Something wrong? Dont have a elevator.
Good
But I've never been to T_T, thank you.
Very good surprise when we arrived. .. hotel in a great location and great rooms
Very good surprise when we arrived. .. hotel in a great location and great rooms
Pros:
Clean
Very short walk to the beach
Great location
Affordable
Friendly staff
Valet parking was very easy with little wait
Cons:
No elevator
Breakfast was not good and had cold coffee everyday we were there
Other comments:
Room size was sufficient unless you plan on staying in your room a lot.
Bathroom was clean but only big enough for one person and no vent but you can open the window.
21 channels of cable.
Air conditioner worked great (we were there in July.)
Location is very safe!!!
Decent hotel if you don't plan on being there for a while , the rooms are small and there's no elevator !!!! Its hell getting up and down those steps with all your belongings .
My lil spot in Miami right in the middle of everything
Excellent attention, the beach well organized and the room very nice.
Cancelled our reservation with no notice and offered no assistance. Had to find another hotel.
Cozy charming old hotel with small rooms.
The Clay Hotel is in The Art Deco destrict of Miami Beach, the location is ideal. The room we had was very small, unlike the description, it had no fridge. That did not disturb us for the price and location are good. There are sunbeds, umbrellas and towels included at a very nice beach nearby. Also the bathroom was brandnew with a very good shower. The roomservice was good and reliable.
the front dest give us a price over the phone and we arrived 10 min later and the price went up 50 bucks. he said it was because their rooms started selling out and if we didnt like his price,we didnt have to stay...very rude...
The location is amazing near so many bars, restaurants, and clubs. The rooms are amazing and incredible service. If you have any issues, they are quick to resolve them and provide an excellent stay for the guests. Next time I visit Miami, I'm definitely staying here.
For 2-star hotel you can't beat the price and location ! Room was clean and check is really fast ! Only minus which I dont like is the pillows, they are so hard, bring own pillow ! You won't disappointed to stay there !
Great location, nice persons, very clean hotel. A little bit noisy at night.
If you're looking for a hotel in a great location and don't care much about extra amenities like a pool or in-house restaurant you should consider this hotel.
Got 4 nights for about $700, taxes included. The staff was extremely nice, the room was recently renovated so it was brand new and the location on Espanola Way is hard to beat. The complimentary breakfast was on-par with most 3-star hotels, nothing spectacular, but a nice perk. You also get 15% off at restaurants on Espanola Way if you're staying there.
The only negative was our A/C unit wasn't working properly the first day, but we were at the beach most of the time anyway, and they had it fixed by morning.
Dorm rooms go for 20 bucks while private rooms go for 70 or above there is air conditioning that works well. Parking is a problem there's only expensive street parking, and valet parking is 20 dollars.
Loved the atmosphere! It was amazing! Looking forward to booking another stay!
A very nice and cozy hotel very well located in south beach Miami
Great location .. microwave and refrigerator in room . Reasonable grocery store right across the street. Great restaurants within walking distance . No need to over spend in nearby hotels .
Good location, good WiFi signal, resposeras service and beach umbrella. Towels to go to the beach. They provide water
Everything was perfect! The room was super clean, the front desk were very friendly and accommodated every request I had. I am glad I stayed there and I will definitely return. Big thanks to MIMI she is awesome!
Be warned! Additional costs applied.
I liked our room, well equipped, clean and a acceptable size, we also had a nice meal in their restaurant.
However, there was hidden costs added to our bill.
A further $18 was applied to our room for wifi, water and towels which should of been included.
Plus you have to pay $30 for valet parking.
A very unfair and dishonest business model.
NOT RECOMMENDED.
Breakfast was included, but is a very cheap option; lots of white bread and jam.
Coffee and some fruit are included. Not great quality.
Not a bad little place if you want the rustic look and feel. Our room was one of the best, clean, fresh and bright. It was on top of restaurant so if you like music you can hear it til after 3am. Bring your ear plugs and meds. Never drove or parked car. Did not need to, every kind of food was below our feet. Discounts with your room ticket works. Everyone was friendly. Hotel staff was helpful but remember they get tired and cranky also. Be kind. Don't take the shuttle bus they recommend. It cost way to much. UBER is your best deal. Car rental will set you back the daily rate and parking will kill you. Hidden court yard makes for great photo op. Advice: Simply request to check room first, look at Air-condition, fridge, bed, shower and smell. If you don't like it, they will give you another. Thanks Clay & it's staff
It's what I expected after reading the reviews before I got there. It's in a great part of the city where you can walk to a lot of shops and restaraunts & the Beach. I stayed here for two nights before getting on a cruise ship. The room was small and the bathroom was outdated and small but it met our needs (bed, shower, AC,&TV). Our room on the crusie ship was bigger than the room at Clay. Yes we did have to walk a block or two to get to our room and we had to lug our luggage up two flights of stairs but I knew what I was getting into before I got there. There was a restaraunt by the beach called Flaniggins (I think) that had really reasonable prices for food & Drinks, especially Happy Hour. As for the Clay Hotel the price was right and I would stay there again.
Purchase a king deluxe after, I paid got a queen deluxe. Manager won't honor error. Hotel smell like mildew and mold. The free breakfast is bread, fruit, and cereal.
Nice small roomed hotel but adequate for the location. I was given a small, damp smelling room initially. After communicating with staff I was given a better smelling small room. Which was considered an upgrade. All in all the staff was pleasant and the location for food, beaches, night life and mall were perfect.
Very friendly guest service. Very clean. Exceptional location Beach service very comfortable. I would go back without hesitation.
Not what I expected and not what was in the pictures.
The room felt like I I was in a motel 6. Not one piece of art on the walls.
I should have spent the extra 40 or 50 bucks and gone somewhere else...
My girlfriend cried when she walked in
The rooms are clean, the stuff are nice people, great service. Will come back definitely. I recommend this place. A+
It is a very well located hotel in South Beach, the rooms have the basics to rest and the price is affordable.
Understand that it is in spare parts. Good attention, very good the one in charge of those who clean Mrs. Maria, must improve the quality of the breakfast.
A nice hotel for the price, but not what I expected from their advertising they made it look much nicer in their pictures and the rooms are smaller then what they advertised, but are clean and nice.
an amazing place. the lobby is the perfect mix of vintage and modern. Free wifi and amazing art. the location is perfect too. super close to lincoln road.
Great location on Espanola Way good prices and clean rooms
Spartan quarters but atmosphere up the ying yang! Espanola way is awesome!
Good hotel. Clean, modern, cheap price, clean and only two blocks from the beach.
Hotel well located on Miami beach service in supp $ 16 HT per night including breakfast and access to chairs on the beach.
Several buildings with rooms (more quiet if you want to move in the street Rooms 563 for example)
The problem has been our neighboring rooms very noisy the soundproofing is slight otherwise the hotel is nice miami beach even more.
Despite a debit error in the costs of the stay the credit for the refund is done quickly.
This hotel was trash. No one speaks English, valet over charged (price was different inside compared to what valet guy told you) and the workers were no help. My friend was give FOUR different room keys, none worked for his room. That's 4 trips he has to make downstairs to get a key that would work and they didn't send anyone to help him.
2Nd time staying there. Rooms are nothing special but the location is great.
This place is very close to Miami Beach strip and it's a very happening place in itself. It's along the lane at Espanola Way. You can find a lot of people dining outside and a lot of fun and frolic which creates a festive atmosphere. Speaking of the hotel itself, it didn't look like much from the outside but it was a different story inside. The place was clean and had enough space for a hotel located in a prime area. The place may seem a bit shady initially but I personally didn't find any reason to complain. They provide complimentary breakfast from a location close to the hotel. Breakfast was adequate. No complaints there. Overall I would recommend this place for its proximity to the beach and adequate facilities.
Historic hotel. The location is great. The service was very good. It is located on the tourist street called "Spanish Way".
The room is good, nice and tidy. The location is great, close to the beach, Ocean drive, Lincoln avenue.
Parking is 34 USD per day! Which I guess is normal for the area, but still.
Stay away from Espanola Way wich is located just outside the hotel!. Its perhaps looks nice and genuine, but total turist trap! So if you go for the breakfast at Havana 1957 restaurant for 8,5 USD offered by the hotel, make sure to get the hotel breakfast, dont order from ordinary menu.
Also we never managed to get two working door keys to our room during the stay. Three times we went to the reception to get it soirted but for each time the service from the staff was getting worse and worse so in the end we gave up settled for only having one room key, was not worth the struggle.
Also they hotel has quite the moist in the lobby and hallways which leave a pungent smell. Not to disturbing for you as a visitors but feel sorry for the staff who needs to work in that day in and day out. Cant be healthy.
So charming! This was my first time traveling to Miami and South Beach. The hotel is located right on Espanola Way with so many cute and tasty restaurants around it. Walking distance to South Beach, shopping, and bars and clubs.
The rooms were small but had everything you needed - fridge, microwave, coffee machine, clean beds, clean bathroom, etc. We had a corner room with a balcony overlooking Espanola Way. It was so charming and romantic. It was noisy at night, but I enjoyed the energy of Miami. They have light blocking curtains in the rooms. The air conditioning worked well. No, there is not an elevator, so you may have to carry your bags up stairs. The building is older, so I didn't mind that there wasn't an elevator. The concierge was very helpful and helped carry heavy suitcases up the stairs for us. The complimentary breakfast is located down the street. It's nothing special, but it included a croissant, yogurt, juice, and a banana.
I would definitely stay here again! I loved it!
Location is unbeatable. Close to the beach. Good breakfast options too.
Newly renovated room was nice, but other rooms next door were still under construction so there was noise during the day. Room itself was sparse but acceptable, advertised as King but bed was a queen.
This is an older hotel, but it was nice. My only issue was with the room key. The electronic box on our door stopped working, but they did accomodate us. The location is perfect! Right in the midst of everuthing surrounding South Beach! Restaurants, shopping, and clubs all in walking distance. And since we went in Jan, the price for the room was amazing!
Rude staff, small rooms. There is a much better places to stay for the same money!!!!!! Keep looking!!!!!
The hotel is located right on espaniola way. The place is happening with great food and drink choices.
Less than a 5 min walk to the beach and ocean drive. Very close to some of the clubs too.
I took out one star because I wasnt given the room I was promised.
Dirty rooms, breakfasts are not worth even going to.
Stayed once and it will be the only time. The staff was ok, friendly but not very knowledgeable about the hotel. The room was terrible, the sheets where dirty and it smelled like mold and mildew. Between the ac being loud enough to drown out the tv and the noise from the street below sleep was impossible. 630 am one of the staff decided to come into our room even though we had the do not disturb sign on the door. Don't forget the 46 dollar valet parking which you have no choice to pay unless you want to park in the ghetto then walk a mile back to the hotel. I would not recommend this place until there is some serious updates made and some reasonable parking.
Great hotel to stay for a great price. Stayed for a few night and I will be back when I visit the miami area again. They were renovating when I was there. But a must stay hotel. The Clay have older feel but you will be part of history when you stay here.
Good location, something good they give you bottles of mineral water. BEWARE that you may have a room with leaks ... If there is room available they will change you.
People are very willing to help
Love it, room was clean, very active location, very fun atmosphere,,, best of all we checked out on a friday for a cruise. Monday they held our bags for us before our flight. Loved it!!!!
Great location. Average room and breakfast but it's a great price... so what do you expect!
NOT RECOMMENDED.
The hotel is located in Miami Beach and just a few blocks away from the beach itself. Lots of restaurants and shops around. Very well located for sunseekers and shoppers.
That s pretty good since you should not spend too much time at the hotel. There is a heavy and strong smell on each floor and in the rooms day and night. Reminded us of mold. Not so sure if this may be harmful to your body.
Furthermore there is an incredible noise during the night due to the AC in the room below our room. The floor was also shaking when the AC was turned on. We could not even think of sleeping. Very stressful, not what you expect from vacationing in Miami Beach.
Disappointing also the frontdesk s interest in our complains. She did not give a sh**. We won t ever come back and we recommend not to go there.
They do not have an elevator but everything else is very good
The place is very noisy if you do not mind, refurbished and complete rooms, it has everything but just, very bad breakfast, area near Lincoln road and Oceania Drive, expensive but like all of Miami
It's a great location in the central point of Miami Beach. Nice and clean hotel, very helpful team.
A scenic spot on Washington Avenue and the Spanish way. Very close to everything. Nearby places for lunch and dinner
Nice stay at the Clay hotel be ready to walk. No stairs in the hotel. This is a old hotel tell but not nasty at all, most of the employees don't speak English. The location was GREAT!! We walked to everything.
Nice hotel. Located in 5 minute walk from the beach. A number of restaurants and cafes on Espanola way. Stuff was friendly and helpful. Rooms are small but clean. Suits for short stand. The best part is location and stuff. The building itself is old and that's why feels a bit uncomfortable but generally deserves 4 stars and thanks words
Great services and location, but I wake up and was raining inside the room, even the walls, well I never seen this before. Than. God we call & immediately the staff come and we move to another room.
Great location, 2 blocks from ocean drive and the beach, and right on Espanola way, which also has great nightlife.
Great attention !!!! Nice the hotel, very good location.
I got very negative experience with their staff and client service. I stayed a weekend in The Clay Hotel and after reaching back to home I found that I was left some of my belongings into hotel room 3 pairs of cuff buttons and one bartender set. All were brand new and in package. I called immediately to hotel and ask about my forgotten items. They took my number and promised to call back within 15 min, but nobody called. Same evening I sent written message to them with all my contacts. Still no response. Two days after I sent them e-mail about my worry and asked the feedback once again. Still no reply (one week later). At least the answer that they didn't found my stuff would have been response. But this kind of client service isn t acceptable, so for your pleasant stay I recommend to avoid The Clay Hotel and look another one, there are many of nice hotels nearby.
Our group had a terrible time trying to make reservations, even though we had someone on the staff to talk to directly. No elevators! Had to haul luggage up flights of stairs due to the porter being busy with others. Was also under construction while we there. Could not get towels for the beach either, they were ALL in the laundry. Never again!
The rooms are microscopic, there is no wardrobe you can barely walk around the bed in the bathroom for truth again you can't move. The old, dusty carpet. The breakfast so to speak is 100 meters from the hotel and completely uncomfortable and totally poor.
Typical Miami hotel, from that time but remodeled in some parts, it is located in. Spanish way, it is a place, full of delicious gastronomy, I recommend it, but do not wait for a hotel.
Very noisy and lousy communication! The only thing to highlight is the kindness of the receptionist and Maria, the cleaning lady. The hotel is very clean but a pity that it is so noisy. We had to change rooms because in the first assigned room the floor vibrated and the music from the restaurants below was too loud.
Send 3 emails 1 month before asking for breakfast and AMAZON shipments. I never had an answer. Upon arrival at the hotel they tell us that breakfast is NOT included (and when making the reservation on the hotel page it indicates that it was). For each Amazon package they charge you USD 5 !!!! Even if you receive them, they charge you for just putting the hotel address on the shipment and if they receive them, they don't tell you that they arrived or they bring them to your room, so they scam you.
The blonde receptionist in the afternoon always had an attitude of laziness, he was in the room next to the reception with his legs up on the table, it seems that anything you communicate bothers him and he does not have a serious treatment towards the client.
In addition to banking the music in all the rooms, they charge you for the orders, they do not respond by mail, facebook or the hotel page itself. There is no elevator, no laundry service.
It has a good location and cleanliness, nothing more.
I do not recommend it for those who want to rest or buy on amazon.
Horrible experience.Very sketchy place. Made online reservation directly through their website and when arrived at the hotel lobby front desk said they didn't have my reservation in their system but payment confirmation and reservation number where sent to me. They only offered to give me a new room and apply new charges on my card and they said the manager was away and was the only person in charge of refunds. To my surprise there was another family in the lobby with the same situation. Payment made with no reservation. Avoid.
