I took a trip recently to Chicago and stopped in at this shop to buy a female friend of mine a bracelet.
The staff here was great and they had a really good selection. I wasn't looking to buy something cheap, but not overly expensive and to my surprise I was able to get a really great deal on a bracelet that I thought would cost almost double what I paid.
So any of you guys out there in Chicago looking to buy your lady a nice piece of jewelry, you should hit up The Classic Gem.

Kara and the team at Classic Gem are fantastic! Having never been engagement ring shopping before, I wasn't sure what to expect. Kara was very patient with me as I tried on various styles and explained the ins and outs of diamonds. I settled on a style that I wanted and she and the team designed my rings. The whole process was really great -- and easy. They responded to emails quickly, always greeted us by name upon arriving, and guided us through a big purchase. I went to a few other jewelers in the beginning of this process and none could match the service of Classic Gem. Any future fine jewelry we purchase will definitely be from Classic Gem!

Such a great staff! They are amazing! We had some unique requests and they delivered 1000%. Plus they are some of the nicest people, can t say enough about them.

We were referred to TCG by actually 2 different sets of friends! Small world! That definitely says a lot already before even setting up an appointment and meeting with the team. I was referred to The Classic Gem by my sister and best friend who used them to design their perfect engagement rings and wedding bands. Postpartum, my wedding band and engagement ring did not fit over my knuckle. I went to Jenny and Lollie to have them resized, tightened, and re-dipped. They look just like new! I had to have my wedding band resized (two sizes too big, whoops!), and went to the Classic Gem. They were very warm when I entered the building and were very professional. They also were very up front about the expectations on what the band would look like for a dramatic reduction. They were easy to talk to and accommodating. I had a very good experience with them, and they did a great job with resizing my wedding band! Highly recommend for a family-owned jeweler business.

Let me save you some of the time I spent on hours of research and multiple visits to shops all over the city and call someone at the Classic Gem and set up some time for a consult and they will not only make the process easy for you, but save you time and money and give you a superior product while making it an enjoyable experience. They are very knowledgeable, kind of like having someone you trust walk you through all of the nuances so you know what's the best you can get for your budget and then you can decide on which levers to pull. They compete more on quality, but the price is actually quite a bit less than other retail shops we visited even custom quotes we received from online retailers.

We seriously compared 3 different shops including an online company and ended up feeling the most comfortable working with Kara and Jenny of the Classic Gem. Here is why we chose to work with them; they are really patient and take the time to educate you on the things that matter from all perspectives and their approach were to inform and help guide you and I found that to be incredibly unique compared to the other pushy sales people (who were really rude and negative when they realized we were comparing around). Also online companies were overwhelming to deal with misleading/conflicting canned responses and I often felt baited by low prices but not really knowing what I could be getting or why the same qualities were listed for vastly different prices. Avoid the headaches we went through and give them a try and call them and you'll be glad you did!

Classic Gem is simply the best!

While everyone at CG are awesome and great, we can't say enough about how wonderful Kara is! We worked mainly with her throughout the entire process. From searching for my desired diamonds, to choosing the perfect diamonds, and finally creating the most unique ring for my wife. Kara was terrific in making sure that we were educated about the diamonds we were purchasing and sharing her knowledge on diamonds and jewelry making. She was very patient with us and treated us very well! She's simply awesome!

Lastly, I want to comment on their follow up service. Basically, they've gone above and beyond for us. They've cleaned our rings for free and expedited the entire process every time! Dara is awesome with making sure that client requests are fulfilled. My wife and I live out of town and we have limited time in Chicago. So we usually just have a window of time where we can drop off and get our rings inspected and cleaned- Classic Gem ALWAYS makes this happen.

Highly recommend this store, modern/classy atmosphere yet very warm and welcoming. Great selection of high quality jewelry. Staff is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, low pressure atmosphere! If you don't come here for your jewelry needs you should be ashamed! :) :) :) :)

Where do I begin? We went to The Classic Gem with a vision of creating a custom piece to replace my current wedding band. From start to finish, the process was seamless and amazing! Not only did they bring the design to life, with CAD drawings, they delivered in their promise. My ring turned out better than I ever imagined. Lollie was so sweet and understanding of the budget. She gave us several options, always contacted us if there were any changes. I, seriously, cannot say enough good things about the whole process, and the excellent customer service we experienced!!!

The classic gem will always have our business and we will refer everyone to them. Their custom work is top notch! My spouse like it so much, that we will be back in the next few months to design a custom piece for him as well!

I can't begin to tell you how much of a pleasure it was to work with Kara at The Classic Gem (TCG)! I live out of town, and found their page via Instagram, so most of our contact was via email and over the phone. She answered all my questions thoroughly and in a timely manner and I felt confident enough to make a trip - I have family in Chicago as well. When it came time to meet, the whole team couldn't be sweeter.

Kara showed me several diamonds in my price range. Wasn't pushy and really spent her time educating me. I remember every one of the staff was busy with clients and thinking it was super sweet seeing everyone going through the same process as me and my boyfriend (at the time). Kara made sure she was very clear, concise, and thorough and confirming if I understood or had any questions at all each snippet. Hey! We're all new at this aren't we?!

I cannot rave about this place enough. I have participated in MANY proposals and helped a number of friends/family with their special day, including picking out and/or designing the ring. When I was approached to help for the latest proposal, I thought about going back to the last jeweler I used about a year ago but after doing a little browsing and research via instagram and facebook, I came upon The Classic Gem.

The Classic Gem has so far exceeded my expectations. Located on Jewelers Row, there are an abundance of jewelers to choose from. However, it is their customer service, detail, and transparency that really make them a stand out business in a very saturated market/area.
Jenny and Lollie were my points of contact and have held our hand through the whole process so far. Kara and Dara have also been on hand to answer any questions. Everyone has been extremely responsive and have been so resourceful and given us more than enough information to make the best decision when it came to designing the ring. They give their opinions which I appreciate. Their eye for diamonds is spectacular and I would use them again in a heartbeat. Extremely personable and makes you feel at ease when making such a big purchase. They are young, but do not let that throw you off, their knowledge is better than many "aged" jewelers I have dealt with. The ring has not been completed yet, but I wanted to give them a review as soon as possible hoping that my excitement translates into this review.

We have been customer's of Lollie's at The Classic Gem for the last seven years and am so glad we found them! We were looking for wedding bands and they helped us find the perfect ones. I also love that they are a family-owned small business and want to highlight how responsive and amazing they are to work with. Over the years I've purchased several other pieces for myself and gifts (Mother's Day !!) and every piece has been stunning. The Classic Gem Team really has a pulse on classically beautiful timeless jewelry and make great recommendations. They are so patient to work with and answer all of your questions. I have total piece of mind in their quality.

My now-husband had been referred to Classic Gem by our best friends who purchased their engagement and wedding bands from Lollie and Jenny at Classic Gem. We are so thankful for this referral because they both have been fabulous to work with. Throughout the engagement process they helped me resize my engagement ring so that it fit and looked perfectly on my finger. They also helped us select our wedding bands and couldn't have been more patient and professional as I agonized over which style ring I wanted. Even after our wedding, they have continued to provide exceptional service. Offering free cleanings and tightening the diamonds in my wedding at no additional charge. We will continue to use Classic Gem for any future needs and will without a doubt refer them to anyone in the market for some bling (I just referred my sister and her husband).

I recently was in the market for an engagement ring and had shopped the entire stretch of "Jeweler's Row" before coming to the Classic Gem and meeting Lollie. While some shops on the Row had decent selection, many had very limited variety and were a bit above my budget range. I even shopped at chains like Kay's and Jared, but left disappointed by how outwardly cheap their merchandise appeared and how expensive they ultimately cost.

Then I went to The Classic Gem. Lollie had fairly wide selection of stones and setting available, most within my price range. She was very helpful, taking the time to go over all the different options for settings with my girlfriend and even introducing me to other attractive options like morganites. I ended up having a gorgeous morganite in a mill grain setting made up at a price below what was being offered by other shops on the row.

Lollie and her associates were very expedient in crafting the piece once I placed the order. I was prepared to wait about 4 to 5 weeks to give her enough time to put everything together (a fairly reasonable amount of time, especially if she is crafting something individually "from scratch") and was elated when she was able to complete in the order in less than two weeks!

Lollie is an amazing artisan who really takes the time to help you design and craft a piece that's unique to your specifications rather than immediately hounding you to buy whatever's in her counter. Overall I would highly recommend The Classic Gem for anyone in the market for fine crafted jewelry. Skip the rest of the 'Row'. Just go to straight to 'The Gem.'

I came in with my boyfriend at the time, doing the process together, I know taboo. But I just know what I want and I don't think he had a clue. Haha. And I was greeted by Kara and instantly, she just got me. She knew what I wanted and recommended the perfect options while still making sure that I got to see other options so I wouldn't feel like I was missing anything. We went through the whole diamond picking, and custom process together until I was removed from the process during the final stages. Fast forward two months later I'm finally engaged and sooo amazed by my ring!! It is my dream ring!! I get so many compliments! Will share photos. I stopped back in to say 'Hi!' and they were all like 'finally'! He was holding off on me for a while. But it was well worth it. Honestly, this process was so fun and easy. Not what we were expecting.
Also, when I stopped by she gave me wedding websites + tips! It shows the added level of attention and care they have. Will recommend to everybody!!

We loved working with Kara & Jenny on not only our engagement rings, but went back for wedding bands, a push gift and will be attending one of Lollie's free courses on pearl stringing and identifying gems. They are not only professional, but they really love their work, and they are a family run business. You can get Tiffany quality jewelry for so much less, and that shows in the products they deliver. What I like is that they are detailed oriented, these guys take the time to line up all the diamonds facets when they set the stones, and did you even know that those little diamonds have 58 facets like a larger stone? This is often overlooked but a key component of fine quality jewelry. Anyway, if you are looking for a great value (meaning good price without sacrificing quality or cutting corners) then go see them!

The entire Classic Gem staff were absolutely incredible to work with. They were responsive and supportive of all our questions, concerns, and needs. We had a wonderful experience with them from the moment we walked through the doors and highly recommend them to anyone looking for a friendly, hands on experience.
