Excellent as always! The harvest theme is very nice.
Beautiful. This visit fulfilled a bucket list item for my wife. But now we want to visit again in the spring!
Gorgeous. 3 hours is plenty of time unless you want the boat ride
This place is amazing. The staff are friendly, everything is clean and well kept. The gardens are over the top. If you just want a quick tour or several days admiring the thoughtfulness and design this is the right place.
Outstanding garden. Definitely a must-see when u're visiting Victoria. They sell a lot of the seeds they plant in an affordable price (not a problem even if u live in tropic they got seeds that grow there too).
If you like gardens and the beauty people can create then this is the best place to see one of the most beautiful gardens in the world. Worth the price of the bus trip and butterfly garden.
This place is beautiful in the evening. Lots to see and do. A must visit place when in Victoria.
I've visited the gardens before it always impresses me, this is the first time in December. The lights were beautiful. Unfortunately the line of cars to get in was awful, we took a taxi and we had to wait as long as everyone else, as the meter kept ticking away. One lane road to get in, that's ridiculous. It seems that a better way to manage the line of cars can be thought of. Maybe have a separate lane for buses and taxis? No matter how long the line of cars at the car entrance, the staff still gives the little talk on the Park. Save it for when the line of cars isn't so long. Almost an hour to get in. Otherwise beautiful gardens.
Stunning well kept with obvious pride. A must see for visiting
This is a must see spot. You will not be disappointed. It is all and more all the good things people say. We loved it.
Went there during the summer, fireworks were amazing.
Probably the most beautiful gardens I've ever visited, and I am not even exaggerating. The variety of plants and flowers alone made me excited; they're just blooming everywhere you look! The massive space is also a great way for tourists to take their time strolling along the nice pathways while being marveled with the beauty of the gardens. The place is definitely great for picture taking, and the vibrancy of the place makes you appreciate the nature even more.
Spent 4 hours there and pretty much saw everything. Probably one of the largest drivers of the Victoria economy (other than retired people). Stunning flowers, foliage and trees. Later in the day is better if you can because the cruise crowds thin out and the sunset and evening illumination are something to see. A van for 6 of us from the cruise terminal only cost $60 CAN each way so we spent $55 CAN pp(less than half of the excursion price) including $33 CAN admisson.
Went there last August. It s amazing! Perhaps thousands of hours spent to maintain, train plant growths. Haven t seen such intricate care from sunken gardens, the original water fountains, rose, Italian and Japanese gardens. They also created new walls to highlight plants from other regions.
Whole day well spent to see the place. It has become a standard and benchmark for other gardens at BC
This place has the most amazing flower display this side of Holland during Tulip season. Butchart Gardens is a peaceful place to enjoy nature's beauty and colors. Plan on spending several hours walking the gardens. The amount of work it takes to keep this place gorgeous is mind boggling. Take some time to smell the roses. You will leave refreshed.
I visited the Butchart Gardens as a child as part of a summer camp trip to BC, Canada. It was so beautiful it was surreal. Being from Brooklyn, NY you don't often see gardens like this one (or at least I didn't). It's nice to see from the pics that it's just as beautiful as it was when I saw it in 1988. Definitely a must see. Be sure to bring your camera!
Definitely will come back. The kids enjoy the place and very relaxing atmosphere.
I went on a date bef9re christmas and the christmas lights were so pretty! We loved it!
The Butchart Gardens are the most beautiful gardens that I ve ever seen! You won t be disappointed if you choose to visit, they re gorgeous!
Nice light festival in winter. Don t go before sunset unless u want to see the Japanese garden
Gorgeous. 'Nuf said. Went for the Christmas display. Did not disappoint.
Beautiful garden. Not worth the time or cost from Vancouver. Suggestion would be to stay one day in Victoria and make a day trip of it, rather than the 14 hour bus, ferry, shuttle John Candy movie:)
But worth seeing.
Butchart Gardens at Christmas time is magical! All the seasons bring something new and exciting. Summer has one of the best firework shows i have ever seen!
Inspiring gardens. We loved meandering through them and wished we had stayed for the fireworks.
Very well maintained and beautiful garden. I found it quite British in style (not a criticism), with themed areas. Definitely worth a visit. The gift shop was also very well stocked with souvenirs and gifts.
Wonderfully kept gardens with an abundance of variety. Beautiful flowers and water features. A must visit place!
never seen such a beautiful, large & superbly maintained garden! Millions of flowers, hundreds of plant species, variety of trees! no proper words to explain, better to visit this mesmerizing place!!!
The grounds are beautiful. Wish we had more time (cruise tour). Fireworks in the evening lasted a long time, so make sure you get a dry/comfortable spot to sit.
It is an amazing place to see! It's very popular so we found it a bit too crowded for our liking. They are also very militant about no selfie sticks and we don't understand why. You probably don't want to eat there as all the food prices are excessively high!! The five stars are definitely due to the scenery.
Has to be seen to be believed. Mind blowing display of spring flowers, we thought we may be too late visiting at the turn of seasons but now believe that any time of the year is going to be great. Will return to see it in Autumn before our return to Australia. Will never be forgotten. One place you must add to your "Bucket List". I took more photos in a day than I've taken in a lifetime! Above all, it was created inside an old quarry!
The Disneyland for garden lovers everywhere. A must see attraction when in Victoria. Make sure you check our the night time walk when the gardens are illuminated.
Rose garden was spectacular. Garden manicured beyond belief. But it was a bit expensive and crowded which detracted a bit.
Over 100 years of rude staff and over priced entry?
From the second we arrived the staff was rude. At the gate when asking about student and military discounts, the young man at the gate sneered and asked if we were going to pay or not. At $30 per person in the off season, with no discounts and no spot to turn around even if we wanted to, we pushed through. Being shoved around by other rude people, pushed out of the way to see different elements of the garden... Even in the off season.
Not impressed at all. Yea the flowers were nice but not worth it. Go downtpwn and walk the waterfront instead it's less expensive and the people are nicer.
Like public gardens of the 1960s, with massed ranks of annuals and bedding plants, though there were characterful areas like the Japanese garden, the sunken garden in the original quarry, the star pool and Italian gardens, plus a comprehensive rose garden. The visitor is forced along a particular route often with no alternative, which was irritating. It's overpriced at 35 dollars per adult, in my view.
Magnificent gardens carved out of old industrial site. Beautifully lit at night.
Incredible is an understatement. If you love gardens, flowers, trees and bushes this place will knock your socks off. Plan on spending a lot of time here. Unbelievable! Magnificent! Beautiful! Lots of parking. Plenty of restrooms. Snack bar (not cheap)
This is the best tourist attraction in Victoria BC. You must not die without visiting this place :)
Lovely place to visit and was a nice experience but the cost was a little over the top IMO. $30+ per adult is a little steep IMO. If your staying for the whole day + fireworks maybe it's worth that ?
Makes.for an expensive day out for a whole family , but it is a nice place to visit at least once.
It is also FULL of tourists so if you don't like crowded somewhat rude people pushing through you then maybe this isn't the place for you.
This place is amazing. Even if you have only limited interest in gardens you'll find the large scale garden vistas to be amazing. Among everything else we found the huge scene of the former quarry turned into a broad lush landscape with the dynamic water fountain is only one of the highlights. Just wow!
Absolutely marvelous. You must see it. The best garden in the west coast.
Amazing hot they turned this limestone quarry into a magnificent garden!
Even lovely in the winter! We enjoyed almost no crowds and a focus on the form of the gardens, textures, and water features. They also had a wonderful historical exhibit with a very knowledgeable historian in several rooms of the Butchart family house (typically part of the formal dining area most times if the year), and the spring/summer cafeteria was transformed into an indoor warm greenhouse and garden.
The gardens were beautiful ! The store was very nice with lots of gifts and friendly staff.
Amazing gardens with planted flowers and decorated fountains. I highly recomend to pay visit there
One of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen.
The Butchart Gardens are absolutely stunning, and the trip we made was totally worth it. The range of beautiful plants and trees to look at is endless, and even more so since the gardens are so meticulously kept. The park also holds an interesting backstory! We felt very comfortable during our visit in regards to COVID protocols. If you have a chance to visit the gardens, definitely do it!
I guess you really have to love flowers to enjoy this. Don't get me wrong, it's a very nice area, but I don't think it's worth the $34 per person entry fee. If you're a die hard flower/garden fan, then you will probably enjoy this. Otherwise I would suggest just wondering the back streets and parks of Victoria, plenty of beautiful flowers and gardens there for free!
Excellent flower show. Japanese garden could have more Zen touch. The designs could be better. Excellent fire works. Too crowded to walk. Basket dinner was good.
Stunning display of all species of flowers and flowering plants. A must see in BC andwhilst on Vancouver island
Such a beautiful place to relax and observe. Adult admission is over $30 per person but it is worth it!
Very impressive gardens. Well worth the admission. Parking was well organized, as was the whole operation.
Lots of flowers a good 2 hours in the gardens. Worth the money and trip
I was surprised by how much my husband and I liked it because we're not necessary flower or garden enthusiasts. But, it was truly beautiful.
We took a taxi from downtown Victoria, which cost about $52 each way. We only did this bc we have a baby and tours don't accept children under 5. I learned that there was a tour that was $67 for transport and admission. They're booth is just outside the hotel grand Pacific and cheaper than the other big companies.
Warning, summer is super busy. Crowded with tour groups that are loud and often ruin the garden ambience. Go during off peak times.
Excellent experiance at the "Christmas lights show.
A sensational place with outstanding gardens and a beautiful. Fantastic boat rides on lovely electric boats
Beautiful and a stunning garden. A garden which has been in bloom for such a long time (100years). Made/ built in the remains of a limestone quarry. Visit the place for its beautiful views, fountains, cherry blossom and a wide range of flowers to see.
A very gorgeous garden, one of my favourite places to visit in Canada.
excellent garden, good organisation, must see the fireworks
I just went up for the holiday lights with my niece. Our favorite part was the singing tree. We sang jingle bells together and the lights changed colors and moved to the sound. I have also been in the summer and the blooms are spectacular. I recommend a picnic and the ferry ride!
It rained the day we went here and there are free umbrellas everywhere to use. They also have blankets available if you decide to eat outdoors. The high tea is one of the best I've had. This stop is a must when in Victoria. Don't miss the butterfly place down the road as this is a great spot, as well.
Beautiful place, 70+ gardeners take care of that place !!
Beautiful setting with well cared for and wonderful flowers and plants. A place that you must see if you are in the area.
Well worth visiting, even if it's raining! Magnificent gardens, beautifully manicured and well cared for.
It was incredibly nice... Easy to make an annual event.
It is the most beautiful place I have ever been to.
Visited here in the winter for the Christmas themed set up. It was very beautiful and a great experience for the family.
Lots to look at. Easy to spend hours ambling through all the gardens.
this might be the most beautiful garden i have ever seen i will never forget it even though i went in wintertime
Gorgeous gardens! I especially like the Japanese garden, but they're all great. This was the earliest in the year I've been there, too early for some things but the spring bloomers such as tulips were full-on! If I lived in Victoria I'd have the year-long pass and go regularly. It's a photographer's paradise and also so pleasant to just find a place to soak in the views and also people-watch.
Christmas lights we great and a nice way to spend a evening with my wife and child.
Outstanding. Visited in August. Can't miss attraction.
Had high tea and then took a walk through the Gardens at night. The lights are amazing.
From a Britt on holiday, it is Monday in mid July. Immaculate presentation, fairly formal welcome.
Beautiful flowers and shrubs start as you leave the car park and continues throughout the park.
The downside was the number of people there!!
It was outstanding how many varieties of flowers were in bloom in summer. The roses were past their prime in September, but there were so many other areas to enjoy. The dahlias were my favorite!
Being surrounded by such beauty makes you forget worries of the world
It has a lot of walking in it. But it is accessible for everyone. It is full of color and it's vibrant. The rose garden is smells great and has so many rose i didn't know existed.
Wow what a beautiful place!
I would have given 5 stars and return more often if only the price was better, or at least a rebait for the local residents.
Definitely wort it even at that price to go see at least once.
Amazing living exhibit is a must see in Victoria. Crowds have exceeded capacity and its time to expand new zones to help traffic flow. My mom would have loved this inspiring garden.
After hearing such good reviews about the gardens I was so excited to go see them myself. The visit did not disappoint! The gardens were so much neater and brighter than I expected, even coming into Fall. The staff were all friendly and were happy to be working there. I would love to come back and see it in the different seasons.
What a magnificent garden. The tulips were in bloom and there was a profusion of colour. Flowers that we have never seen before were common. The sunken garden was splendid. We had planned to spend an hour or two there but stayed for four hours. We capped the day off with a free electric boat trip around the adjoining cove. We cannot recommend this garden more highly and our only regret is that we will not get the chance to see it in other seasons due to the tyranny of distance.
