I attended the MWCU Association's Annual Meeting this year, as I have for the past 10 or so years. It is always an incredible experience. The people are always pleasant and the rooms are definitely five star. We were given a suite and we received wine and cheese from the head of events or a title similar to that. He is very high up in the Credit Union Association.
Every year I have used the salon and spa. This year on Wednesday, I had a pedicure. The little girl that performed my pedicure was fabulous and pleasant. Of course I tipped her 40% because she was good.
My boss made my appointment for the massage. I was sitting in his office when he made it. He definitely stated he wanted me to get the deep tissue massage which I believe is called the sports massage but I did not look it up. When I went to the massage, the desk girl did state I was receiving a signature massage. I wasn't exactly sure what it was called but I knew what my boss had asked for and they had always gotten it correct in the past. I have a massage every year. When I went into the room and got under the covers, Timothy, who was my massage therapist, entered the room, I did ask him if this was a deep tissue massage correct because that is what my boss booked. The VP's of our Credit Union all play golf and the Credit Union pays for it so my boss gave the two girl VP's a massage. Anyway, He stated that I was getting a Signature Massage which is just a relaxing massage. That is not what I had requested. However, due to the fact I was already at the spa, and ready for my massage, I went ahead and took it.
When I spoke with my boss as well as our Board wives, they told me to call and speak with a supervisor and they should fix it or not charge me for the massage.
Therefore, I did in fact call and speak to one of the supervisors. She asked me first if I was staying at their facility. I explained I had been staying there at every MWCU Association Annual Meeting for the last 10 years or so and had always used the salon and spa. She then asked me if I did in fact receive my massage. I explained the situation as I did above and she then stated that I should have understood what the signature massage was when the girl at the desk told me what I was receiving. My boss had made my appointment, and I specifically heard him say a deep tissue massage or sports massage. I explained that the girl that took the reservation must have typed it in wrong. She stated that the girl was not there to ask her but that her people don't usually makes mistakes and that I must have been mistaken. She very much made me feel like I was lying which I am not accustomed to at The Broadmoor. She then offered to let me have a sports massage the next day but all she could do was add on 20 minutes to the 50 minute massage but she could not comp it. She also did not offer to take the cost of the massage I did not request off our bill. Our Credit Union spends between $17,000 and $20,000 a year to come to the Hotel. My Board's wives were quite disgusted and stated they will never use the facilities at The Broadmoor again because of the way I was treated. I did not take the supervisor up on her offer. I don't appreciate being called a liar. It was like I was trying to receive another massage, which I really didn't have time to get as I had to attend the meeting. This is the only disappointing thing I have ever had happen at The Broadmoor. It is spectacular. The food and restaurants are fabulous and everyone remembers your name. Our Credit Union will of course continue to come to the Meeting, as my boss is on the Board. However, I will never use the spa or salon facilities again and did not appreciate being called a liar or like I was trying to cheat the Broadmoor.
