It's a Wonderful place to go when you come to the end of the road in your Life.
The Bowery has a noble mission and provides an essential service to the people they serve. Additionally their hospitality for volunteers is second to none
Excellent
Social Services.
Well sometimes you would be surprised what you can eat for free in this city. I have been to the bowery mission quite a few times and the food is good depending on who is cooking and what they have in their pantry. Other than that this is a palce where you go to give back and help others. The New Yorkers who needs your support and help more than anyother.
I found myself homeless three years ago, from sober housing, to the shelter and drug programs, eating regularly was not possible. The Mission helped make sure that me and others in the same need were taken care of. Three meals a day, a food pantry and the experiences others in this position I found myself in. I'm in my own apartment, am going back to school and have been sober for 3 years and 21 days.
Alot of people that go there to eat needs assistance with taking a shower daily.
the Bower mission is ok but there is alot of things that could change first of all they should have some sort of Bible study during this carona virus out break there is no bases of helping people who want to have more freedom in feeling a since of peace and welcoming In this place . I have stayed here for about a month now and I'm a musician who plays the guitar I have been told not to play my guitar or sing on the floor that I stay on which is a exsallent way to spread the love of Christ to thso who are suffering during this time . when we are suffering and going through hard times Such as now we should have more time to reflect on our day and find peace in Jesus just having place to sleep is ok but here needs to be more structure in this place . the staff is rude here and are very demanding and are actin as if this is aprison and allowing guest to fight and argue I don't recomand this place to Christian's who are trying to make a positive change in this world so if you need a place to stay find another drop in shelter .
Wow...they really try ti give a good meal to those who need it. Under 37 degrees, before 5pm they will let you stay warm, and they give out good clothing to men on certain days.
The story of James is touching!! We go every year to sing and they are always kind!
At 1pm everyday you can eat a very large lunch. The servers of the food are respectful and anyone can go here and walk out with a full belly. They serve breakfast & dinner, too. I've always eaten here when I am broke. Im very grateful to the Bowery Mission.
Great Compassionate Care Center, Life Transformation Program and Alumni Transitional Housing. Saved many lives.
One of the few places that will forever be part of my life, the greatest people with tremendous hearts,God build the Bowery Mission for one reason and it was to show those people that took the wrong path that there's still hope and opportunities and that you are not alone when you need a helping hand,.. great place love the mission
They feed ppl here and there's an hour mass while you wait .good food
This is where I go fishing..grateful for the work done here. Lets not forget 3 meals a day...everyday. Spiritual as well as nutrional.
My son Neo is supposed to be there. However, these people have taken all of his outlets to reach out to his family. I am his Mother and all I want to do is hear from him. Please call me Son.. I Love You!!
God has Blessed this building and the people in it went the to speak once and loved ever second of it !
Greater love has no other place then here! The staff, the volunteers truly show miracles for some of us who are less fortunate. Thank you.

Great place to volunteer and to help people in need, to give a hopeful hand.
Feed the hunger, help the hopeless, house the homeless.
If you are into charity, please donate to this non-for-profit organization, thousands of people will really appreciate it.
Loved serving there during the mission with my Church in the summer.
Update: Today August 10th my dad a senior was denied food again. It was his first of the day. The white male work with glasses refuse to give him food. It sickens me that he treat seniors like this.
The lady that hands out food keeps on claiming my dad got the food when he didn't. My dad is a senior. The lady should be fired. 2nd time this has happen.
I always thought that a shelter is temporary housing where the homeless can get to sleep and be served some meals. Why do all these shelters try to push a Bible study or their beliefs on you? Why do you need a case manager if you just need a temporary place to lay your head and get back on your feet? Why so many rules to follow and so many early curfews like high school kids? Why dont they have separate shelters for street people and mentally ill people? Not everyone who is homeless is mentally ill or came from the street. Some people lost their homes or are unemployed and looking to get back on their feet. The whole shelter system sucks and they need to shut them down and provide permanent and affordable housing for the homeless. Those who are crazy should be housed in a mental facility. The bums from the street should have a special place where they can go to shower and clean up themselves. The only solution for homelessness is to get to the root of the problem. Get rid of all these case managers because they are not helping anyone. They only collect a paycheck and try to hold down people so they can be employed. I have never seens so much BS in my entire life. Thank God I got a job very quickly, got my own place, and I am back on my feet again.
I have a few reccomendations below to solve homelessness:
HOMELESS PEOPLE NEED AFFORDABLE HOUSING, NOT SHELTERS. PERIOD. THE CRAZIES NEED A MENTAL FACILITY WHERE THEY CAN TAKE THEIR MEDS AND REST. THEY SHOULD NOT BE MIXED IN WITH NORMAL PEOPLE. THE EX CONVICTS, DRUGGIES, AND THE LIKES NEED THEIR OWN FACILITY TO RECOVER. THEY SHOULD NOT BE MIXED IN WITH NORMAL PEOPLE. ALL NORMAL PEOPLE LOOKING FOR JOBS SHOULD BE MOVED TO AFFORDABLE HOUSING AND GET THE HELP THEY NEED. PROBLEM SOLVED.
One of the most blessed places in New York city, and especially in the lower east side. All are welcomed, and feed 7 days a week. 1pm-2pm Lunch and 6pm-7pm dinner for those in need of a free, blessed hot meal
The work the staff does at the Tribeca shelter is astounding! Cliff, Gary and other staff members provide services to those less fortunate every day with a smile on their faces. We volunteers go there once in a while but they do the hard but valuable work every single day!
Staying at the bowery i can say that this is the place to get back on your feet if youre willing to do your part personally. Amazing services for people struggling and have lost hope.
It really change my life went from being homeless, prison then here
The bowery has great programs serves three meals a day
and the services are really heart touching
They help me recover from a dark place
and now i have a job and spend my time working with the bowery mission
They made me the productive young man i am today
And for that i say thank you
And God Bless
I am just watching Michael,on the Chew,show...
Just knowing about it.
Watery eyes, compassionate heart, hearing individual sharing the benefits!
Goodness will always out do evil.
Wonderful vision.
I'm truly blessed to be able to worship God and have a meal here
This place is horrible do not believe the other reviews they are misguided. As a person who have used their services I can tell you exactly what they are like. The staff is rude, money grubbing and cruel.
when it was cold the city forced them against their wishes to establish a temporary cold blue shelter. They were unhappy about this and did their best to discourage you from staying. I was told since I have a job and I am actively attempting to fix my current situation I was barred from staying there and using their services. In the staffs own words and I qoute "I don't care where you sleep or how cold it is, you ain't sleeping here. Is a job worth more than having somewhere to sleep? Come here early tomorrow around 5pm for the service and you can stay, no go away. Its too late for this mess"
I told them I had proof of employment and my work hours. I didn't need a mat, I could sleep in a chair. I just didn't want be outside in the cold and have something bad happen to me or die. "not my problem, should've thought about that before you came after service."
It was only 9pm.
They try to act as though they want to help but they don't. They want you to stay in your situation so they can keep getting money. Money they don't even spend on the homeless. There chapel has a lice infestation that they know and don't care about.
They receive large amounts of money that they keep for their selves. They only things they hand out are the really junk donations and they do that sparingly. The other day someone brought in a bunch of winter gloves. The man at the desk and the fat security guard took them. I asked for a pair and they told me to go buy it. When I was leaving I overheard them talking about selling the ones they weren't keeping for their selves. I am going to call the city and news reporters on them because this organization should not behave like this. They force you to sit for hours (it is not optional) in their chapel before each meal, yes their chapel with the infestation. It is 3am right now and I have to go the bathroom badly, I walked there hoping to use their restroom. The guard just looked at me while i was standing there knocking. It could've been a fatal emergency, he don't care. Eventually I got someone to come to the door, who immediately had a attitude, shouting "LEAVE" mind you I am not a trouble maker, I don't talk to anyone, I come to eat and that's it. There is no reason to conduct their self in that manner towards me. I tried to explain I just needed to use the restroom. He wasn't hearing it. He told me to go away very rudely. See the way it works there is this. They only do something if they can make a profit off it, and even then they will do the bare minimum and the staff won't even be the ones doing it. The make their volunteers do the work, they don't even pay them. If they ask about pay the start talking about how that's not God's way and such. Either they need a new staff or it needs to be shutdown. I know that sounds cruel but it's better than being treated like less than a human being just because your homeless. I've seen them mistreat many people and get away with it. They run a shelter, yep. Your never going to get in it though, it's for women only and if your not putting out they are quick to get rid of you. They also have a neat little money making program called the 7 day, basically they house you for seven days and then kick you out. Why? Because it's a revolving door. Everytime a bed opens they get more money for the person that fills it. It's funny how they talk about how they have no money and need donations but have expensive cars and very expensive sound equipment and projectors and all types of other stuff that costs money. And they are always buying new stuff for their selves.
I am calling the city and the irs on them. They need to provide accounting for where all this money is going and be audited. they are not gods people. This is not God's way.
Fantastic staff. Great food. Wonderful preaching and singing. Caring. Kind. Helpful. I attended a celebration of a new book about the Bowery Mission written by pastor Jason Storbakken. I had a wonderful time. This mission is so historic and has helped countless people over the years
Corruption stilling and harassing people inside
Some man pretend hi is shepherd but looks like Boss of some of Gun Clan.
Provokes
When you try to set up dates to volunteer, because they so desperately need volunteers, as they advertise, everyone in the Volunteer Department that they refer you to doesn't exist. This whole week when I was referred to different people, and tried to reach out to them, no one knew who I was talking about. If I could rate zero stars, I would.
Always a privilege for our church to be able to visit here!
It's a great place, u can eat shower nd get some clothes also. Outstanding job to the staff at Bowery Mission.
Can be better at service people because they don't know when it could be there turn 2 be needing help
I am not going to donate to the Bowery anymore. I am disgusted by the treatment given to those who need help. You should be ashamed of yourselves!!!!!!
I can't believe the stuff am reading about the way they treat the people in need and can't believe this place is operational thanks god I read the reviews before donating
I mean it is a Spiritual place that reaches out only for men of all ages. They do provide 3 meals a day. Very healthy great food for which I visit often for. The main reach are out to homeless and less fortunate people. Take sanitizer. But keep a lite heart it is the heavenly father's house
Life is gud at the mission.only in New York can u get a decent meal and toiletries all at the same place and hear the word of god also.like I said only in new york.
Wonderful place people helping feed the hungry and clothing shelter social networking for the homeless men.
Feeding the homeless and giving clothes as while as shoes to the homeless people in need.
The Bowery Mission saved my Life!!!!!

Great spot to eat breakfast, lunch and dinner for free the true American dream go check it out for yourselves they are really kind and treat people like true human beings and are very non-judgmental give it a try and be blessed at the same time
I am a mother of three that went in yesterday to eat. I have no addiction problems nor do I drink. Just a little down on my luck. Me my husband and my family went into eat and felt so welcome. Thank you for the wonderful hospitality.
I love the Bowery Mission. It is one of my favorite places to volunteer at in New York. They do phenomenal work and always put their clients first. A gem in New York City.
I was there for thanksgiving, the food was delicious, but it was a little bit overwhelming been homeless for the first time and been around that meny people.
I have stage 4 Non-Hodgkin's lymphoma and depend on my meals there... However now I am being denied my meals because someone there decided to break the law and throw me out because I have a federally registered service animal... My dog lets me know when I'm going to have a seizure...
Meanwhile the man they caught masturbating during the church service was allowed to stay and have his meal...
I guess having cancer is a crime now...
Please update your website and your staff. A homeless pregnant mother and her child shouldnt have to walk miles for clothing to be turned away at the door and told you only provide men's clothing. The gentleman who answered the phone even stated she could come by. Very unfortunate.
Did some soup kitchen volunteering here. Good people and good cause.
Can't forget the Places I've been to get where I am now.
I've been living down the block for a while now and yesterday was the first time I've been there. The food was good and the fellowship is great. Will return soon.
Very consistant and orderly as GOD has called US to be. The
L VE of GOD is shared and shown by and through all the Volunteers and their workers.
I had an asian evangelist pray for me.
THIS CHURCH LET ME TAKE SHOWERS AND GAVE ME CLOTHES TO PUT ON MY BACK. This place had given me the inspiration to give back when I can. Sorry if I
taken too much time talking about myself.
This place feed you breakfast, lunch, and dinner seven days a week. Can't say nothing
bad about The Bowery Mission.
