Went with my girl Friday night. The gals in front of us disputed their bill. Didn't think much of it until our check arrived and found they charged me $15.00 per double rum and coke....still tasted like coke. I am accustomed to being charged an additional $2-$3.00 for the extra shot, but $7.50???? Our waitress was good, but the food was average and the band was stuck in the 60's. We won't be wasting our time or money at this spot again.

I wrote a critical review of my visit to the Barley Room yesterday. Just now, I received a call from the owner. He apologized and promised to rectify. I appreciate that and will visit Barley again. I told him that I would take down the review, but I don't see a delete button; I just see an edit button. So I changed my rating to 4 stars and had the opportunity to provide this update.

They have great food and great service! You always look really cool bands that are different. Friday night was Stratosphere and it played cover tunes from the 70s 80s and 90s. It's your very large crowd. Pretty decent atmosphere.

We ordered 3 drinks, a draught beer and two mixers. My mom ordered her typical, tall Cuba Libre--something she's been drinking for over half her life--her drink was clearly missing a shot of alcohol or this place seriously waters down their Bacardi. We asked to get it fixed, but we're argued with and told it was weak because it was a tall, and were brought back the watered down coke. We ordered appetizers that we're tasty, but took a good 30 minutes to arrive at our table. The band, U4EA, was a good choice for the environment. Overall, I don't think we'll ever come back to the Barley Room, what's it take to remake a drink to fit the bill? Bad, bad move on the bartenders behalf, IMHO.

What's not to like about the Barley Room?

What's not to like about the Barley Room?

The food is way better than the food at the Run of the Mill Bar . Good selection. On site preparation. Reasonably quick service.

They have a great selection of whiskies. And beers. They even mixed my wife a Mojito.

And they have live music some nights of the week! We need more bars that support live music in Albuquerque.

So find out when they have music. And go! And then go back!

I almost never review, but my experience last night was terrible. The table was sticky. The server was in a daze and took a long time to bring us menus. There were three people behind the bar, but it took almost 20 minutes for us to get our drinks. This would never happen in Chicago. The bartenders seemed more interested in making and taking their own shots rather than doing their job. The band was talented and the crowd friendly. That is the only reason I gave two stars.

Steelers anyone??!? Great bar to hang out and eat and be happy. Nice patio later after the sun goes down. Owner, Scott is one very personable guy! They all make you feel comfortable, ... Which then makes you wonder when is"Norm" coming in?

The Barley Room used to be our favorite restaurant. We've probably been there 30 or so times this year alone. We told everyone how great they were and brought them a ton of business. It's where we brought friends and family and had business meetings. However, they've gotten so greedy and rude lately. The food quality has gone downhill as well. From now on, we're going to go to Sinners and Saints instead, which offers 1/2 price appetizers every Thursday and has a better beer selection.

Oh, and that 5 star review from "Edward Messing"? That's us too. You can disregard that review.

Happy hours on website are wrong. They end an hour before posted times. Drinks don't have any booze in them. Had a Caesar salad $8 it was just huge pieces of lettuce with Caesar dressing. Manager gave us a $5 gift card because of website error. I gave it to a person as we left. I wouldn't be able to use it because I won't be back.

An absolute model of consistency through hard work, due diligence and a desire to please its patrons! Moreover, a collective entrepreneurial spirit not only palatable but tangible! Dare I say " rinse and repeat eat and drink!" I digress....

It's got a great, relaxed vibe (at least on a Friday at 5:00) Wait staff is professional and attentive. It's one of those friendly neighborhood watering holes. I'd recomend you give it a try if you'd like to take it easy. They've got La Cumbre, Bosque, and Santa Fe on draft. Wood panels, good lighting, and just a classic look.

There's always a funky smell in the bar...not sure what it is, but can gross ya out a little. Sit on the ample patio and you'll be fine. :)

I went for the first time for karaoke on Wednesday night. My husband and I seldom go out due to rough and rowdy crowds, but we LOVED this place. The karaoke DJ was awesome, as was the staff. The crowd was very fun and upbeat, just a great atmosphere. My long island tea was definitely made the way it is supposed to be, and the price was fair for what I got. I definitely give this place a two thumbs up and will recommend it to my friends.

Drove across town to see Gunsafe play, arrived and was told that they were asked to leave because they we're too loud, unplugged for some other customers(clearly regulars based on the extra attention they were getting from the staff). By catering to those customers you lost at least one other forever. respect musicians, and honor your commitments. I can't speak to the food or drinks because I will not give money to a business like this.

Decent neighborhood bar, good alcohol selection. Reason for two Stars, waited over 45 minutes for a single burger! Burger was ooozing grease, fries were full of grease as well. The Place wasn't even busy! Servers are okay, they are accommodating. Needs more of a selection of games for NFL Sunday. Wouldn't recommend to a friend.
