I never write reviews, but feel as though I needed to today after a very poor afternoon tea experience. I made reservations well in advance for a special birthday treat for a dear friend. We were escorted to a very bland room that looked like any Motel 6 breakfast room, and were sat next to a sweet family with an 11 month old son. Now, I love kids, but I was not expecting a loud baby at an afternoon tea. The sandwiches were good but nothing exceptional. After the first family with a kid left, another family with a baby came in right after. Overall, for the high cost of this experience, I left feeling very disappointed. I spoke with a manager on the way out who listened to my concerns but did not offer a refund of any sort, but did say that I was supposed to have received a call letting me know that there would be construction in the main area. I never received a call. Ultimately, for a hotel that prides itself on customer satisfaction, I was left very disappointed. I'm so sad to write this review as we were looking forward to this tea for months. If you are looking for an afternoon tea, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere.

The Gallery restaurant is amazing. The holiday brunches are off the chart. The rooms exquisite and the indoor pool (I've never used outdoor) are fun w and ample hot tub and the stationary lap pools - or whatever you call them. The spa on the other hand......... The actual treatments have been good. The atmosphere of the spa is not good. You go to a spa for luxury and pampering. At most high end spa's, there's fruit, tea, maybe a snack mix with some chocolates in it. Lots of perks to make this a welcome and inviting place to chill. A while back they trimmed it down to quaker oat squares (yes the junk some people give their kids) and tea. Now it's even less - the tea is gone and they offer coffee and I didn't see any snacks last time. I don't know who wants to drink coffee at a spa when you're there to relax. They've cheapened the whole spa experience and made the atmosphere pretty bare bones and not at all high end - which is ridiculous bc keeping up with that is pretty affordable. That aspect has gone downhill to the point it's like they're not even trying to make an effort. Clientele that would be here are the same that would be at the Grovepark or the Ritz (both of which leave out high end tea, sophisticated snack mixes and fruit). Ballantyne Resort Spa is leagues behind (didn't used to be). Then you have the steam room. It's a cheap, prefab insert that actually is so flimsy it gives when the door is closed. So relaxing steam one minute and then avalanche of water from the ceiling the next. Any time anyone leaves or enters prepare to be doused! First world problems I know - but if it weren't first world prices I wouldn't expect as much. Little tweaks and a steam room renovation would get this place back in the game. Spa management team needs to get back in the game already.

If you have the chance to stay, definately do it. You will pay higher price per night than other hotels around but the experience and your stay is by far worth the price. Not only are the grounds very well maintained, the attention to detail in everything is incredible. The staff is very hospitable, knowleglable, congenial, etc. Large rooms, great dining area, bar area. Pool outside and inside. Spa services available and a must. Great place to do a weekend trip to our a well long stay.

Lovely facility. Rooms are spacious, clean and quite. Great restaurants all around. A bit pricey, but enjoyable. The breakfast was a bit limited and the cooked items were a bit dry. I would recommend it.

Overall very enjoyable and plush. The hotel used to be at 100% but is now about 97%. Just some minor appointments, cleaning, attention to detail, making a more seamless experience, and training staff to strive for a 100% score every time would make this place superb again and not just a fancy convention hotel.

Amazing hotel. Beautiful, well maintained with friendly and efficient staff. Rooms are beautifully decorated and spacious. Bathrooms are all marble and luxurious. The hotel is undergoing a renovation, and I am sure the next time I visit it will surely earn a 5 star rating.

Lovely hotel with a great list of amenities for those who desire extras from their stay. Free parking is always a highlight for out of town guests like myself. The staff seemed helpful and pleasant. We enjoyed a meal in one of the banquet rooms but found the dinner portions to be almost laughable.

Lovely building, excellent service, good food. The one star however is my automatic rating for hotels with cockroaches. One I found early morning after first night in middle of the room , the other I killed in the pool area. Travelers: wear shoes at this hotel.

Why was this place excellent. It really sets the mood for the entire Ballantyne area. It is a wonderfully laid out building that has a looming tall white house look. The golf course behind it is very nice as well. This is definitely a place that is on the fancier side.

I've not stayed at the Ballantyne hotel, but was looking to purchase a gift card for the Spa in a bit of a last minute situation. Just wanted to give a shout out to the concierge Jay who came to the phone, gave me explicit instructions for getting the gift card in a timely manner, and maintained contact with me via text to ensure me that the gift card order was complete and ready to pick up! Thanks Jay for your awesome service.

Went for a round of golf. One of the nicest public courses I've ever played. For the price, I don't think you can find a better deal. Paid 62 dollars per person and got the full private club treatment.

Highly recommend to visit their restaurant too. Great food and excellent customer service.
Very attentive to all their guests.

Make sure to also visit the gym and pool/jacuzzi on the LL (lower level) floor. Very well kept.

Excellent, clean room service was good. The gallery restaurant was really good. Would recommend as a staycation for couples. Room was clean. Bathroom not as modern and luxurious as the Ritz carlton uptown. But nice..no shower bench in shower.

Absolute worst service. Held my post wedding weekend brunch here. They didn't get anything right. From the floor plan to the food. Seriously, what banquet facility runs out of coffee at a brunch? After going over everything that went wrong with the supervisor on site, management never even bothered to contact me regarding the failures. These people don't care. Go elsewhere.

We have been to the Ballantyne for a number of reasons. At Christmas they have a great display of ginger bread houses built by children and professionals. Take a walk down ginger bread lane and enjoy a nice hot chocolate at the end of your tour.

Love the resort, the Gallery, and come several times a year for high tea. Ask for Barbara if you go for tea because she s a total game changer. Dawn, Jessica, and especially Barbara are all exceptional members of the otherwise phenomenal staff at Ballantyne Resort. Raj is running a tight ship and everything from his shoe laces to the pillows on the bed are held to a top standard! The food at the gallery is delicious!!! If you stay there you must also make time for a dinner at the Gallery. This the place you go to really enjoy yourself and worry about nothing.

I took a package with a higher rate - to include a $75 food and beverage credit per night for every night we stay. However, I got charge for all the food and beverages we ate and drink. More, we also got charge for drinks in the mini bar in the room that we did not drink. They do not tell you at the counter that once you pick up an item from the mini bar it automatically charges to your room even if you just pick it up to look at it.

Absolutely loved this place! Stopped for one night on our way home from vacay. Had a room with a golf course view from the balcony. Course looked great. Best hotel bathroom and extremely comfy bed. Enjoyed several hours conversation with Fergus at the lobby bar while we enjoyed some adult beverages and a bite. A very interesting gentleman and great bartender. Drinks were typical high hotel prices. I think this was the last night the lobby bar was open and is now undergoing renovation. We will be back and will likely stay longer. A lot of restaurants a short drive away.
