I am 29 and have had ALS for 2 years. Before connecting with the ALS Association of Oregon and SW Washington, I felt completely terrified and adrift. My husband and I were buried in information about the disease, but we had few resources explaining how to live with it. Now, I am in constant contact with the brilliant minds and kind hearts at the ALSA. They help me tango with insurance, discover new medical equipment, connect with services like county social workers and in-home caregivers, and more. Now I have a whole team of devoted experts giving me the hope and knowledge I need to carry on. Thank you!

My husband was diagnosed 12/26/2013. I had wanted to go to support but he was terrified, and no one could argue with that. He was afraid to see what his future would look like.
The hardest part was walking into the room and boy, was it THE best thing we could have done not only for him, but for myself. I love the people in our local chapter. Without them, this would be a terrifying and lonely disease.
Thank you for all you do to not only raise awareness, but to get people involved. We really could not do this without you all.
*hugs* to you,
Dawn
