Pleasant experience with top notch service. Mixed reviews on food from nice to very good, so I am really looking forward to returning to try different dishes on my next visit to Canada. A lot of potential here as it matures. Recommended!

Clean open decor. Only the odd chill from the opening the outside door during winter if you sit near it. The young hostess lacked a little experience, but Jose, the male server was very warm and highly attentive. I glanced up for salt and pepper after just telling Jose that we had everything we wished and another server also jumped in from a distance. All in all, 5 stars for service. From the Sunday Brunch menu, we had the Tostadas Rancheros, Mississippi Eggs Benedict and Short Rib Hash. The Mississippi was raved about and the others were nice, but not exceptional. My Short Rib Hash, served in a mini cast iron skillet was a little lacking of meat and cheese, a little under-seasoned, and the portion was a wee bit wee for 17 dollars. I would have also loved if the homefries were pan fried as opposed to deep fried, but I am being especially picky. The scone with blueberry compote was a hit with the ladies. The filter coffee was fresh but a little over roasted for my taste, but the espresso was good and the server was happy to provide some hot water so I could make my own americano.

Great experience, waitstaff is exceptional. We had the Buffalo Roasted Cauliflower and Charcuterie Board to share. Highly recommend the cauliflower, the blue cheese dressing that came was very light in texture but had excellent flavour and More

As a family, we have dined at The Aberdeen Tavern on numerous occasions. We have always enjoyed our experience. Tonight, we attended for a special celebration. The service was dreadfully slow, despite our server initially so accommodating. The food was sub par, lukewarm, small portions. I ordered "braised beef", which was terribly dry, the "potato" accompliment was unrecognizable, not certain what it was supposed to represent, perhaps a square layered scallop? It was dry, tasteless and anemic. Everyone at our table of 8 were terribly disappointed. This night meant so much to us all. We were shocked by the cost! The portions were shockingly inadequate! The atmosphere was the only saving grace. We will NEVER return and will advise our other family and friends to boycott this establishment. I believe "The Aberdeen Tavern" have become "too big for their britches"...they have ruined a wonderful thing! Shame on the owners.

Absolute gem. I m from Toronto, and was visiting Hamilton and this one was a pleasant surprise. Very nice service, and amazing food. I had the carbonara and my friend had a bowl. Carbonara was not the most traditional, but certainly a good dish nonetheless. Amazing. Highly Recommend.

I was going to revise a previous review about food quality until my main arrived. A mac and cheese so soaked in oil that even I couldn't finish it, and salty to the point that it tasted bitter... I finished what I could and the rest was soaked in a deep layer of grease. I have to maintain my view that the food here is not great. It may be serviceable and some items can be well executed, but the overall quality is very uneven. I can recommend the starter (goat cheese croquette) but the main was awful.

Overall, Aberdeen Tavern seems to be getting worse. The food is mediocre and overpriced and the service is a bit on the tardy side. Overall the menu is fairly dull and they seem to overreach with certain cuisine types. The good thing about here remains the overall surroundings and atmosphere. Good for business lunches where you don't foot the bill and little else.

This was a really great experience dining out. Our server Dan was very knowledgeable and made a great wine suggestion. The kitchen was accommodating for my lactose allergy. I would highly recommend for an upscale pub experience.

We meet once a year - at Christmas - with friends. Yesterday for lunch at Aberdeen Tavern was our annual meeting and it was really nicely done. The server was excellent, the food was excellent and we had close to 3 hours to relax and get caught up on times past (over the last year). The prix fixe lunch was good (the portions are awesome - neither of the individuals who ordered salads could finish theirs). We have been here before for dinner, but this was our first lunch experience. We shall return.

Had the tofu scramble for brunch. The combination of tofu and avocado bread was great. Best homefries I've ever had.

edit: went here for dinner. First of all, I think it is amazing that there is a vegetarian menu here. It is so nice to see a restaurant not just pay lip service to its veggie clientele. However, for all the options available, only a salad, mushroom appetizer and mushroom risotto are vegan! I was hoping for more options. Also, the rice in the risotto wasn't cooked enough and was very hard and gritty. The flavors were great but it was far from creamy. If you're vegan, come here for brunch, but maybe skip dinner until more options are added.

Came here for brunch on a Sunday and it did not disappoint. Truly great. To begin with, the decor is very nice and elegant. Staff were kind, quick, and always checking up.The best part was the food. Quick, filling, and most importantly, delicious. I had the mushroom/red pepper/bacon omelette with home fries that were crispy. Everything was made to perfection, well cooked, and tasted great. Prices were fair too. Would highly recommend.

My dad and I have a tradition that I take him out for his birthday during the summer to a different restaurant each time in our quest to find the best cobb salad in Hamilton. I think we might have a winner at the Aberdeen Tavern. Fresh greens, a flavourful bbq chicken breast, perfectly ripe avocado, blue cheese, bacon, and a soft boiled egg served with two types of dressing on the side. The service was attentive, and the patio was a lovely spot to have lunch. The price for the two big salads and a glass of chardonnay was just over $50, My dad was so impressed he wanted to see the dinner menu as well, which is a little pricier but still has some affordable options. I love trying new places every year, but we might just be back to the Aberdeen Tavern next July!

Went out for a night to relax. Pepe our waiter was phenomenal. He went on to describe certain menu items to us and recommended the bacon carbonara which I thought was delicious!! Can't wait to go back and hopefully have Pepe as our waiter once again.

Only thing that is not awesome is the parking. If not from the neighborhood...plan ahead. Lots of one way streets and you are likely on parking on a side street. Food is good. Service, very good. Very nice atmosphere inside.

Such dedicated staff, a beautiful setting, the best patio garden in the city. The decor is formal but actually quite cheeky with its old world style paintings and desk lamps lighting the booth seats. Highly trained staff and a beautiful open kitchen put me at ease every time. Safe and steady food, mostly, with consistently good specials. Favourite brunch spot.

Love Aberdeen. Always great food and service. Was picking up a gift card for my FIL and had the urge, I knew I'd rather be eating than getting the card, so I told my wife we were going back for dinner, no arguments from her

Our eldest son attends McMaster and whenever we're in town to visit, we're sure to make a reservation and have brunch at the Aberdeen! Great vibe, good food, varied menu, very attentive service, and reasonable priced! What more could you ask for? The food was spectacular and service was excellent.

We just had the most amazing experience at Aberdeen Tavern. The service was exceptional. The restaurant itself is decorated in a stylish, inviting manner. THE FOOD! Boyfriend had the braised rib (Thursday special) and it was unreal. I had the scallop risotto and if possible, I would like it to get me pregnant. Just delicious - we'll be back!

Excellent food and service. They went the extra mile and brought champagne for my first visit. Only thing keeping this from a 5 star was the mains took quite a while to come out but the manager noticed this before we even said anything and comp'd the course which I was not expecting. Will definitely be back.

Been here many times and have always had a very good experience. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable. The quality of the food is excellent and their menu has something for everyone. Their drink selection is also very good and I highly recommend their house IPA beer. Perfect for a date or a get together with friends.

I called in before hand to make sure if I needed a reservation for 5 people to dine-in during these times and was told, they were completely open and did not require a reservation. 30 minutes after the call we arrive at the restaurant and was told that they were completely booked and we would have to wait 1.5 hours to be seated. The bad communication from this host is the reason why business was turned away from this restaurant. I m not one to call out discrimination but it really felt that way with this interaction.

Beautiful atmosphere, sort of upscale retro. Staff nicely dressed and easy on the eyes. Food was good and there was a decent selection but arrived cold. No problem returning for a warm up. Bottomless coffee and Mimosa very good. Pleasant staff. Parking can be tough. LCBO and beer store very close by. Big Bee variety on the opposite corner has lots of selection.

Trendy place, delicious food, good ambiance, friendly service. Amazing dinner and drinks on the weekend, absolutely 5 stars. On weekdays and mornings they don't have their bartender, and the quality of cocktails and espresso drinks is not great, and deserve 3 stars.

Our brunch today I don't think best represents what the Aberdeen is, given the circumstances these days. I'll reserve judgement for better times and dining conditions. Today was a disappointment.

I can definitely say that breakfast was a 5 star, the last time we ate here - I had the strawberry & cream cheese stuffed french toast...yummy. But our recent work lunch lacked originality and flavor. Hoping to see a revised menu for the Summer.

I couldn't tell you with any degree of certainty if the chefs outperformed the service or vice versa.

I came here with my wife for the Valentine's Day menu and could not have chosen a better spot. The experience was extraordinary. Highly recommend.

Aberdeen Tavern makes the best eggs benedict in the city, no question. I do not think that I will ever stop raving about their hollandaise! I love that they have options for meat-eaters, vegetarians and vegans and am always grateful that they have something for everyone. So good!

Went for Easter brunch with my family. We had a party of 9 people. We called ahead to make sure we could eat off the regular menu, they said of course. We got there and that wasn't true.

Let's start with the only good thing - the service was good, and the waiters/waitresses were very on top of things. Now for the rest of the experience - The savoury scones were dense and not flakey, plus they ended up running out of half our order of scones. The apps were okay. But the mains... my brother in laws food (The Cubano) was burnt, my mother's omelette was dry and overcooked. My sister's poached eggs in her Tostada Rancheros were overcooked and not runny. And my other sister's food was barely warm. We all got drinks and our bill came to a bit over $300 + tip. For that much money I expect the food to be great, I would settle for good. But the food was terrible.
