This is the second time that I have received a citation when I have actually paid to park. It's getting frustrating to say the LEAST!

This is the second time that I have received a citation when I have actually paid to park. It's getting frustrating to say the LEAST!
These people should earn their minimum wage working at McDonald's instead of pissing people off for a living
Booted although I have a temporary handicap and cited for parking in the dorm hall which I live in..... they charged me for parking where I live: first thing Monday morning when the permissible weekend hours are up. By far the worst department at Tech
Biggest joke I have ever heard is "ttu parking services does a good job".
100% the rudest people I've ever had the displeasure of talking to. They are literally out to get you.
*Pays 25k to go to school on one of the largest campuses in the US,
*Can't park anywhere without getting more money sucked out of you.
If I could give half a star, I would.
god i wish i could rate them 0 stars. the only thing they re good at is writing parking citations. how do you OVERSELL the lots that are meant for the people living in the dorms??? it s unreasonable for me to pay $250 to park in a commuter lot because you greedy imbeciles can t plan anything.
They are so disrespectful. They CHANGED my parking pass during the year and wouldn't change it back. They are the worst thing about Texas Tech. Even the supervisor was extremely rude and unprofessional.
There was an error in my parking pass so they fined me 5 days in a row, sent me all the citations at the end of the week, and sent me an email saying if I got another they were going to impound my car
They don't care about student workers regardless if you were in training and had no idea you needed a pass for 3 days of summer. Also no warnings just a citation right off the start so buy a pass before you get ticketed because you have to pay your citation before you can buy a pass and then they won't refund you even if your reason is valid.
I cannot park in front of my own dorm without getting fined multiple times within a 20 minute period, absolutely ridiculous
$100 to get my car out of tow yard. After it was LEGALLY parked in commuter west with the PARKING PASS I PAID for.
you parking services, that's why y'all always get boo'd at the Carol of Lights!
I was given a citation for "parking in R19" outside of Stangel, but I actually parked in 30 minute parking for only a couple minutes. I went back to take a photo of the same spot and appealed the citation and haven't heard back from them.
Also my boyfriend just got out of his vehicle at the rec center parking lot and was given a ticket before he could make it to the pay station. He was literally getting out of the vehicle in the photo that was taken!!!
I'm all about regulation, but that's two mistakes that could have been prevented in less than one week. Find workers that know what they're doing!!
Techs way of pumping more income out of 100,000 dollar in debt students that are late to class from time to time and have to park on campus. An established way to prove $25 per ticket is more important than our groceries so we can eat that week and need our vehicle so we don t lose our jobs so we can eat and pay for $100,000 school
Easily the most corrupt and money hungry organization in Lubbock. I now have to rinse out my eyes with bleach every time I see a white Toyota Tacoma. Considering Texas Tech University has one of the largest campuses in the nation, Transportation Services should do more to cater to student transportation needs than overly priced parking garage permits or commuter lots where one needs to prepare for a 30-45 minute bus ride to get to an 8am class. While Tech Parking Services could provide plans to alleviate some issues with the poor student transportation system at the university, they instead rake you over the coals and capitalize off of your misery.
Absolutely horrible. They ticket people all the time that have passes, my friend got a boot on his car and he was paying for a pass, another one got tickets for his new car and they tried to make him pay for them even though he had a pass. It s ridiculous that you have to pay to park to go to work.
They force freshmen to live in a dorm at an insane rent. Then they have to pay for parking which they can t get because parking is sold out?
Seriously?
Instructors on campus each PAY hundreds of dollars yearly so they can ensure they can park to teach classes for students on time. Each student in class is paying for their seat in each class. During some parts of the year there are students who take the designated spots instructors pay for and potentially inconvenience entire classes with their selfishness. Consider in a 100 person "resident" undergraduate class worth 3 credits: those students students pay $1,800 for one class! To those students blocking instructors, compare the measly fine to that cost for the instructor paying to park and the those students paying for their class.
While I sympathize and think that students need better options for parking and signs could be better used for reducing parking mistakes,
if you are intentionally taking, nay, STEALING what someone has paid for it is not appropriate! The proper course of action is to contact student government and administration and constructively work for positive change.
Parking and Transportation are doing the best with what they have to work with. If you'd like to make a positive change I'm looking forward to hearing how we can afford to have instructors, students and administrators work to improve campus.
For being a campus that advertises itself as one of the largest, there is a severe lack of parking lots or facilities otherwise designed to get students to school. Additionally, after parking permits had been purchased, we come to find out 2 major parking lots are closed for construction (which isn't improving or adding parkinglots, one of them is removing them in fact), this is extra frustrating considering that last semester another part of a parking lot also spent the entire year under construction. Yet parking has no problem charging you 25$ for trying to just get to class through their poorly planned, poorly practiced construction events.
These people are actually patrolling around ticketing people for graduation ceremonies. You better be a 1st or 2nd Team All-Pro Meter Maid if you want to work here.
If I could give zero stars I would. TTU parking is a complete joke and run by complete idiots who don't care about anyone except themselves and making a profit.
Gave me a $20 fine for being idle with my engine on and me being in the vehicle. They said I was parked in a service parking area. Went back and checked to find no sign.
Tech parking is so bad. when i arrived on campus. i was parking in the wrong section unknowingly. also unknowingly in the background i was given 7 tickets without my knowledge. had no clue until one day i walked out to my car to go to work only to see it booted. called wondering why it was booted and was then let know that i had 7 tickets equaling 175 dollars. un top of the 175 dollars i also got the privilege to pay an extra 40 just to have the boot removed. when i then asked where the nearest parking was to my dorm since i purchased the wrong one. i was told the nearest available parking is a 25 minute walk from my dorm. what great news for a freshman in his first month of college. had to call my mom and beg to borrow 215 dollars just so my car wouldn t get towed. then this week my girlfriend just got out of surgery and i figured i could risk one 25 dollar ticket so she wouldn t have to take a 25 minute walk fresh out the hospital. boy was i wrong. next morning i walked out. booted. first time getting booted= 7 tickets i wasn t informed about in anyway. second time= 1 ticket and i m booted. the website to see what number in line i am for parking outside my dorm has been down for about two weeks now. last i saw i was about 150 in line. for the parking garage across the street. i was way behind at about 300 in line. i ve currently been on hold for 35 minutes to have someone come take the boot off of my car so i can make it to work today. all i ve heard for the last 35 minutes is thank you for holding. we are currently receiving a lot of calls at the moment. then goes on to say there are currently no other calls ahead of you haven t even finished my first semester here and i ve had a terrible experience with ttu parking.
Texas Tech Parking Services logic: "Let's charge students outrageous amounts of money for parking passes to a certain lot, oversell that lot, and then give them tickets when they can't park in their lot to make even more money."
Only 2 days at tech and I got a parking citation for going 30 minutes over the two hour mark. Great first impressions on this school
Worst department on Texas Tech's campus. False tickets during non-operational hours and good luck appealing that or anything else they send your way.
Parking in tech campus to work on a building in the middle of campus. Got several tickets and was towed, even though a parking attendant told me I could park there. Eventually got another ticket for parking in the library lot(I really don t know how I got this one as I had parked in the Teinert parking spot that was given, but whatever).
Almost two months later I got a letter saying that the payment for this ticket was overdue. What ticket? I said. So I look online, and I have another ticket from September. So I called them up and said that I didn t know about it because there wasn t a ticket placed on my truck. When I called to complain about that, they said they had sent an email to my old TTU email. The one I used during college. The one that I never need anymore because I graduated from said college. Why would I look at that email anymore? So I emailed them to ask them to take the late-notice off of the ticket and then I d pay for it.
Well, didn t hear back from for about a week or so. I finally decided to see if they had reduced the ticket cost, and they had. Still without communicating to me.
TL;DR: Communication is terrible. They are terrible. That is all.
If you polled TTU students at random, you'd probably find that TTU Parking has a lower approval rating than the US Congress. Instead of having designated covered garages on campus, parking is limited to the space between buildings, which is not enough in the heart of the main campus. Parking staff are about as worthwhile as your typical DMV staff. Their parking software is buggy as hell. Parking fees are, as you'd expect, unreasonable, particularly for students who are already going into debt. TTU is raking its students over the coals for what amounts to chump change for them. Stick to overcharging alumni for football merchandise, mkay?
One of the worst parts of attending Texas Tech is dealing with the parking boners.
I wish I could give them zero stars. I have had countless problems with TTU Parking, and all for unjust reasons. They are the worst.
Absolutely worthless! On student orientation day the staff planned a dinner and closed the doors early and didn t notify the orientation personnel who are telling all the students and parents Parking Services are open until 5:30. Not the case! The manager came to the door and advised ... sorry we are having a dinner and we can t open. Closed the door and windows on 10 families waiting!
Went there to buy a parking pass to work on campus, and the staff is incredibly rude and talks down to students.
Have heart problems and a handicap placard and all documentations and permits to park on campus and they tow my car. Had to walk over a mile and pay two hundred bucks to get it back. They could've killed me, but do they care? Definitely not. If I didn't have to deal with these jerks, I wouldn't.
Will not admit to personal failures and takes advantage of the horrible layout of campus. Students are forced to pay fines for parking that should be free or you are paying the campus $100 s each semester to park where you already deserve to be. Money gouging at its finest and completely unprofessional, no communication skills whatsoever.
Parking services at this university is the most disorganized and poorly run department at Texas Tech. They repeatedly issue tickets to students who pay to park in the first place, have outdated pay machines which hardly work, and incompetant parking officers that do not know the difference between vistor and staff spots. As much money as I pay to attend this fine university, I expect to not get threats to have my vehicle impounded over tickets I should never have been issued in the first place. Whoever runs this department should be fired.
Honestly the worst people to talk to. They wont help with your situation better luck just paying a ticket you do not deserve then fighting it. I wish I could rate less then one star! Got fined bc I was dropping someone off and had to run inside bc they left their wallet in my car. Came back to workout 4 hours later to a parking violation. Representatives treat you worse then trash.
Unfortunately, if I could give TTU parking zero stars I would. They are usually understanding, but in this situation I was given a citation for parking illegally when I was still in my car. You cannot stop for a moment on campus!
The absolute worst, payed these scum payed 480 in fines, a week later parked at holden for 20 min and got a boot.
Giving one star is being more than generous, and I would give 0 if I could. The entire staff is incredibly rude to students for no reason. Parking services is a disgrace to the Texas Tech campus. None of the staff is on the same page about the rules, so if you talk to one person one day do NOT listen to what they say. If you have any questions look them up where it can be found in writing. They try and make parking on campus as difficult as they can. Students are trying to park on the University they pay to attend, not at the White House. Relax. Your job is to rob already broke students. Honestly some of the rudest and most incompetent people I have ever come across.
Parking lots are horribly painted, pay machines don't work, pot holes and horrible conditions for cyclists, walkers, and vehicles, in addition to staff that treat you like second class citizens.
I'm pretty sure they all actually worship satan. Staff is so rude and they have no empathy.
Literally got told that I was going to be suspended from school because I was dropping off my boyfriend at the sharp literally right next to the kiosk and she made it a priority to jump in front of my car threaten me while I was on the phone with my mother. Tech need better kiosk people because that is ridiculous to threaten a student who goes to that university and pays 30,000 a year.
I know, Dictators could do anything, they won't listen, they do what they like. They are Mr. Rightness.
Can t even work on campus (for the school) without getting a ticket. They need some serious rework in the way their department is ran
They sell more permits for the lot than they have spots. You may pay for a pass and find you are unable to park in the lot you paid for.
I have a permit and parked in the correct location and I still got a ticket... Please fix all of the problems. This is ridiculous.
They will give you a ticket if you're standing by your car. TTU Parking Services are THE worst. They just want more money from your pockets...and disregard that you're paying $25,000 to even go to school.
Be prepared to have your car towed without you knowing :)
Easily the worst part about Texas Tech. Got a ticket for picking up a friend on campus. Staff was incredibly disrespectful. I feel sorry for future students that will have to deal with these people.
Gives tickets to people even when they have the parking permit for the lot they are in.
The pay citation link is available, but when I click the appeal citation, it shows that the citation is not available!!
Unprofessional , don't understand anything and just give out tickets without hearing any special/difficult situation.
Don t bother giving respect to these people. They will not reciprocate it.
Worst group of people ever.Tech Nazis. Going to get a boot and put it on their vehicles see how they like it.
I'm currently on hold for 79 minutes and the website isn't loading.
If I could give a lower rating than one star, I would. I work on campus and get permissions to park in a specific lot. I have received 6 tickets within the span of a week. After the 6th ticket, I was finally told in a very hostile way that I needed to upgrade my pass and that I was still responsible for paying a citation when I wasn't told the right information in the first place.
The service was great! Got my parking permit very soon and got the appeal passed as well. Very nice people to help.
On my last day of freshman year I got a boot for parking IN FRONT OF MY BUILDING. Come to find out that I have 14 "outstanding citations" and that in order to leave back home that I would have to pay 375 dollars to pay ALL the tickets and get the boot off. PARKING AT TEXAS TECH IS AN ATROCITY, they do not care about the situation, they don't care how much money you have, and they don't care if you were only parked somewhere to drop someone off; TTU parking will fine you and will get their money somehow. The parking "service" for TTU is an absolute stain on such a great campus and without a doubt needs to be COMPLETELY reformed and rebuilt so that students don't have to butt heads with the otherwise brainless head that is parking services. SUCH a disgrace, guess I'll be spending my summer in Lubbock.
This whole department seems outdated. The machines, the facilities, the employees... everything. For such a large campus that has many parking lots and commuting students, TTU Parking Services seems unable to control parking without being ticket happy. I paid to park but mistyped my license plate number by one digit. I called to see if they were able to simply change this in their database or whatever system they use, and I was told I would have to pay again as there is no way to know if the license plate was wrong or not. This is unacceptable. The app being down and/or riddled with bugs is also not OK. Also, these machines NEED to be updated. Parking has been the WORST aspect of attending TTU and I will be relieved when I no longer have to worry about parking on campus.
They are the worst and have rude attitudes! Ruth Laura is horrible and gave me such a hard time for no reason. They love to cut you off when you re talking/ asking questions! Absolutely hate this parking staff!
The worst thing I ever faced in my life!! Greedy people and they treat students without respect! Very rude and hungry for money!
GAVE ME A TICKET FOR PARKING AT THE REC CENTER WHILE I WAS WORKING AT THE REC CENTER, I APPEALED IT AND THEYRE STILL TRYING TO CHARGE ME FOR IT. HOW THE HELL ARE THERE NOT GOING TO BE ANY PARKING PERMITS AVAILABLE FOR ENGINEERING STUDENTS WITHIN A MILE OF THE ENGINEERING KEY? HOW ARE STUDENTS WITH THE HARDEST COURSE LOAD SUPPOSED TO SUCCEED WHEN THEY'RE CONSTANTLY BEING SHAFTED BY THE SCHOOL THEY ATTEND??
Section 8 machine is out of order, was the only place I was told I could park. Asked for help from the parking guy in the white truck. Tells me to just use the app . Drives away. App does not register a new account. Just wanted to go to the book store to buy some tech gear. Left with no solution other than risking a parking ticket because there is no way to pay for your service. Just using the app is not an excuse to not fix your machine
Just received several tickets for when I was SITTING IN MY CAR WAITING TO PICK UP MY FRIEND ON CAMPUS. Absolutely absurd
I won't even call anymore if I can help it, I was treated so poorly by one of the women there who didn't know how to work the hold button and proceeded to put down the phone and I overheard her blasting me for needing help. If I could give this less than a star I would.
They live to ticket you. It increases their life force.
They're super hostile on the phone when you try to get clarification about a citation. You get 1 warning for however long you stay at tech so better save it. Also there's a reason no one likes parking at tech so get ready to find yours when you get your citation
Being a student at Texas Tech University and having to deal with the atrocity that is TTU parking services is roughly equivalent to being jewish and having to deal with hitlers Nazi regime during WW2.
It was a nice environment with a Pokemon gym, free popcorn and drinks, and knowledgeable employees.
The people who work here have a tough and thankless job -- especially around midterms and finals, when people are constantly parking in lots they don't have permits for. If they're not always cheerful, I think none of us can blame them (although they've always been polite with me). They have their problems (for example, there are occasional false positives, or tickets that aren't deserved), but they allow appeals in those cases and seem to deal with appeals fairly.
If your ticket can't be appealed, you usually have the option of paying for your ticket in toys or food for families in need -- something I personally appreciate. (Dropping toys off doesn't feel as much like punishment as paying $20-25 online.)
They also offer a lot of additional services, such as a car maintenance clinic offered to TTU students, faculty, and staff free of charge (I think) where you bring your vehicle in to make sure it's in good working order before traveling for the holidays.
I received a ticket for a vehicle that I sold over a year ago. Called the office to have it removed and was informed that the current owner is required to inform the office that they were the one that parked there. Deleting a car off of your account is absolutely pointless. There is no way for me to contact the current owner and until the Parking Services receives notification from the current owner I'm on the hook for the citation. This is absolutely ridiculous that I am required to pay a fine for a vehicle that was not supposed to be on my account and NOT UNDER MY CONTROL. The ticket was also issued less than 30 min before the parking lot was free for anyone to park in. Piss poor job by TTU Parking Services.
TTU Parking stole my innocence and replaced it with pure, unadulterated hatred. Trump should build a wall around Tech to keep this literal cancer from spreading.
I ve received citations for parking in the garage that I pay for - riddle me that.
Money for everything. Purchase a parking pass, then purchase a pass to get into the parking lot. Oh wait, but you also have to purchase a pass to park your bike. Hot day? 45 minute walk? See some open parking spots in the commuter lot? Same amount of money for a parking pass but since the website said the commuter lot is full you get a citation. Three citations in two months for stupid reasons. Just a money hungry business.
I would give half a star if I could. Anytime you call, they will answer your questions, but only in the most barebone, effortless way possible. You can just tell from their voices that they do not care if you live or die and that you are annoying them by actually making them do their job. I have always been as nice as possible when I've called, because I used to work in a call center and I know how much it sucks to get an angry customer. Even then, if I wasn't nice and polite, I would get written up or fired. There is obviously no standard for conduct here, at all. Their motto should be, "Texas Tech Parking: Go F--- Yourself" because you can tell that that is what they want to say anytime you call them. Supervisor is just as rude as the employees, if not worse. I would think that in any other job they would have been fired long ago. Their attitude obviously spreads to the employees.
They also like to lie to save money and fleece you as a student for more. I was told that since I was the first on the waiting list for a parking spot, that I would be upgraded once summer classes started. 3 tickets later, one being on a Friday after 6:30 pm (seriously Tech?), they finally tell me the truth: no, you have to PAY AGAIN for a new permit just for the summer, and then pay again for another once fall starts.
Just rude people. Don't expect to be treated like a person, a customer, or with respect if you call. What is plainly obvious is that they could not possible care less about the members of this community or their job. Honestly the whole department should be gutted and replaced with computers, at least a computer won't talk to you as if you're a misbehaving child or put you on "hold" to loudly insult you to their coworkers, for literally calling and asking how to purchase a parking permit.
I hate the dust storms and flooding of Lubbock, but Tech Parking Services is by far the worst thing about Lubbock. You'll get your questions answered, barley, but be prepared to be belittled and humiliated by rude students and even ruder supervisors for asking them to do their JOB. You know, what our outrageous fees already pay for.
I am about to graduate from Tech. You know the reason I will never send my future kids here? TTU parking. They will write you a citation even if you have a permit for the parking lot you are parking in. Money hungry people.
It s certainly going to be a long way to hell for these people and their department. They exist solely to rip off students and they have no customer service skills. It s a shame the way they treat those that pay their bills.
Through a series of unfortunate events, my truck was broke down on campus. I called the parking service immediately and told them my situation. They were VERY helpful and understanding. They even gave me until 11am the next day to get my truck fixed/towed/moved, even though I had parked it in faculty only parking. I APPRECIATE that. THANK YOU TTU PARKING!
they said they couldn't give me a refund for a parking permit for Summer 2016 after I dropped courses because they "saw" my vehicle on campus.
1) i was in europe
2) my vehicle is in San Antonio.
They got caught trying to be sneaky.
The worst and the most irresponsible department at TTU. Recently they have replaced the night ride (operated by CitiBus) with their ttu parking vans. And for a university having almost 30,000 students, they just have ONE VAN going around. So basically if you are a student and you don t have a car, you have to give them a call and wait for a good 2 hours, for the ride to get to you. The staff never has answers to the ETA!! And students pay in tuition for this service. In my opinion, this is completely unfair to the students as a huge chunk of their time gets wasted on this waiting. The most unreliable service you ll ever encounter is this scamming ride.
I received a citation for parking in the exact spot I registered my vehicle for. I had the pleasure of speaking with Ruth lara. She was rude and seemed to go out of her way making it very clear she did not care about my concerns or attempts to understand why I got the citation. I am hoping that the appeal process will be run by someone more capable than what I have experienced thus far. Parking services at Tech have and continue to be the ugly underside of this university. I understand they deal with angry people, but perhaps these people are angry because parking treats them so poorly to begin with. Hmm...
Update: My appeal was rejected, despite showing my parking was in the correct area (I provided visuals of where I registered and parked) that was labeled where I was supposed to be. This entire department is run by idiots. The lack of ethics demonstrated by these folks is embarrassing; TTU parking is a disgrace to Texas Tech.
I pay fees to use the rec center, yet can't park in the rec center parking lot, because I don't have a separate pass to park on campus.
