An exhaustive inspection by a professional who was able to identify all the problems in the house confirmed the excellent reputation of this firm, recommended by the CAA. I highly recommend the services of Legault-Dubois to anyone who wants to ensure flawless expertise.

Inspection within the framework of reno-climat. Oral recommendations that go against the manufacturer's recommendations (drain pipe from the air exchanger straight to the drain: the installation manual requires a loop to prevent sewage odors.). No thermal camera to check for air leaks: we will do this by hand on 4 windows, hoping that it is good for the others. A wobbly telescopic ladder (a piece was missing on the right side). We really do not see how they were selected by the government for the reno-climate program.
I paid the Legault-Dubois team to do the inspection for the Renoclimat credit. This consists of 2 inspections, one before and one after the renovations. They came in April of 2018 for the first. They inspected my place, and advised me to call back when it was time for the second (post renovation) inspection. The renovation work was done by June, I had contacted them several times for the second inspection. After several failed attempts to book the 2nd appointment via email and phone, they finally called me back and advised that they were super busy with the 1st appointments, that the 2nd appointment would only happen in the new year, and that they would call me back in January. At this point it was 5 months after I first started trying to book the 2nd inspection. I take it upon myself to call them back. They now advised me that they no longer hold the Renoclimat contract and that I should go back to the Renoclimat site to deal with the new vendor. I chased them for months with little to no response until it was too late, I am not surprised they lost the contract.
I did a home insulation inspection with them. The service costs $ 700 and it s the same inspection as the renovation climate test (air leak test, etc.) which seems to be done for free these days. The inspector is very courteous and has done his job well and he knows it well. On the other hand, to have a report of the results of the inspection and the recommendations, it was necessary to pay an additional $ 1,000. We had photos and oral recommendations and we had to take notes. Since we are not building and insulation experts, after a few weeks we forgot half of the recommendations or we found that we did not understand what to do. A few months later, when we were ready to do the work, we were in contact with them to Ask questions about the inspection, we had to pay $ 160 / hour to be explained the result of the initial inspection .
I find it wrong to do an inspection and not hand in something in writing and ask people to pay extra when you have questions since there is no written report.
When I did my pre-purchase inspection with another inspector, I paid $ 700 for a full inspection with a detailed report.
Very bad experience. We had several reasons to think that we needed a technical-legal expertise report to pursue the former owners of my wife's house because she had several anomalies. Following the passage of the building engineer, it turned out that the tests revealed that it was not a vice-hidden, we then asked to have a partial refund (for the final report) since the report was no longer necessary, but a simple letter of advice was valid in our case. The cost changes drastically, we are talking about a ratio of 6h to 160 $ / hour versus a letter that must take 1h or 2h to produce.
In addition, despite the agreement we signed, we had a good period of time to be reimbursed in our opinion, given the 2 to 3 weeks they had given us for the production of the said report given the strong goodwill.
When it came time to get a refund for the report to get a simple letter of advice, it took everything and moreover, even by paying back two hours out of the 6 paid, they do not want to give us the requested letter of advice .
I understand very well that your people are qualified and we do not doubt it, but at $ 160 an hour versus our $ 20 hour wages, it is to take advantage of people not to accept paying them back when report is NOT necessary. We will have to absorb the unnecessary costs of a report while the letter of advice is our need.
Your only star goes to the excellent Building Engineer who came to do the home tests and his excellent service to whom I would have given 5 stars.
Very disappointed with this company. We are wasting time and money (renoclimat). Never confirmed an appointment before the inspection, then call 30 min before this picked up at our house. The telephone service does not follow the hours indicated on their website. Don't take a call after 3:40 pm! We return my call at 11:55 am, I call back immediately and the answering machine tells me that it does not take calls during dinner time! SERIOUSLY, what a lack of professionalism!
Great experience! The inspector was super professional and very patient with us. She took the time to explain everything to us and answer all of our questions. The inspection took place on Saturday and I received the really detailed report on Monday! More than fast service and great value for money.
I recommend everyone to have an experience like mine. Thanks again !
We were buying our first house and the inspector was very professional, he took the time to explain to us and answer all of our questions. I received the report 4 days later! And the report is very comprehensive and clear.
We have done business with your establishment in preparation for a heating system installation.
The representative / inspector was very courteous but a bit dry. Good advice was given to us.
I understood while we were communicating with you by phone that you were to make a general, neutral analysis with the aim of improving energy and comfort. We were told not to worry or stress.
Rather, I felt a lack of confidence. The inspector often made us feel that our house was not in conformity, that there were serious problems, that one thing after another was missing. It was a rather negative inspection. I didn t feel confident in our house, there always seemed to be something wrong.
Very professional and complete inspection. Inspector takes the time to do the checks and ensures that we understand the different points. Clear and well-mounted inspection report.
The energy evaluation of our house by a technician from Legault-Dubois was carried out with courtesy and competence. Very attentive to our needs and clear answers.
II was very pleased with Legault's service. They arrived promptly, on time, and carried out their work efficiently and knowledgably. Any questions were answered with pleasure, any explanation was clear, and the reports were received promptly.. I highly recommend Legault-Dubois.
