This is a wonderful spot to add to any vacation trip away from pure tourist spots while visiting Italy, especially in the off-season. The water is warm, clear, and feels wonderful after being on a plane (or in a car) for what seems like forever.
Two caveats:
1) This is a bit of a trek to find your way. You will (likely) need a car to get here at all. The trip will take a bit of time, as you have to leave the Autostrada and drive back roads , meaning the standard roads you d have seen prior to straight/wide highways. This isn t a big deal, if you ve driven a country road at all just relax and you ll be perfectly ok. This is the first time I m driving in Europe, and zero issues.
2) This isn t some curated tourist place. Getting around the pools isn t easy at points. I will point out a big item here: WATER SHOES. This will save your feet, as most of us wear shoes everyday. I used them, and they also provide excellent grip. The rocks *can* be a bit slippery. The pools are uneven, and so on. This isn t a water park, they re old-style baths, that s the way it is, and that s great by me.
This place does have some amenities, during the busy season at least, with a bar nearby. However don t expect showers, lockers, or a place to change. That s just fine by me as well. People toss their towels / swim covers/ et al., wherever they find some space. Just be a good person and clean up your trash, if any. We saw no trash, but again, it doesn t hurt to be a good person.
