Temple Baptist Church Review

This is a great church with a great pastor. I attended for Temple Baptist Academy's Class of 2019 high school graduation. It was a well run service that was all for God's glory.

This church is truly a home for your family. Pastor Sexton has a huge heart for the lost and for each and every church member. The Spirit of God is alive in this ministry.

If you only want some of the truths and don't want to be convicted then you may not enjoy the old hymns and the KJV Bible that is preached here.

I have not been here yet, but watch on tv. The preaching is great and based on the Word of God

It was okay. The building is beautiful, but I'm used to a very small church, one about 1/3 to 1/4 the size of this church. The music was pretty good, and it was neat to see the people who were doing sign language.

My view only, they bribe children to attend, and are more concerned about the number than people actually being able to learn about Christ, again my opinion, but we were associated with them for 13 years.

We have been there on numerous occasions. One substitute pastor stood up there and literally SCREAMED the whole sermon. ( Bring on the snake charmers fire and brimstone ) Another time a different substitute pastor was preaching the Mothers Day sermon and whole time he was talking about mothers KILLING their children. I'm not talking about abortion either. Like I said we've been there numerous times and the sermons have gone down hill each time. If pastor Sexton would preach each week we would go back but he seems to be preaching less and less.

Best thing ever happened to me I made a choice to be close to the Lord

The Word of God is preached and it is a conservative church.

I visited one time a few years ago when I was living around there i was told the wrong time that they started by a friend i thought i was 25 minutes early but i was actually 5 minutes late so after the service a gentleman come up to me and suggested I visit a different church where I would fit in better and told me that temple Baptist just wasn't the place for me that was probably the most hurt i have every been while visiting a church

We moved 16 hours away to join this church. Absolutely one of the best choices we have ever made as a family. Pastor Sexton is an amazing pastor with a pastors heart. If you want to come to church just to feel comfortable this place may not be for you. Here you will be encouraged and motivated to be all that God wants you to be.

An amazing church. Big church with a small church feel. Pastor Sexton always brings a challenging message from God's Word. The Lord has used this place in such a great way in my life.

They preached on being missionary's and spreading the gospel. After service I asked them if I could go to the prisons in their name. I was denied. They said I can't go because I was wearing shorts. I can't go because I have long hair (not scriptural as well). They tell me my baptism is not legitimate because I was baptisted by another church. EVIL DOCTRINE

Very heart warming people at this church. The sermon was well said. I enjoyed the whole service as it was.

People cared for each other. They share God's Word. They preach the truth in love.

From the first moment we walked in the door 13 years ago, we knew this was the church family God had for us. We were welcomed immediately by people whom soon became great friends. Pastor Sexton is a caring pastor who loves the Lord and pours his heart into every sermon. In a world that is turning away from God, this church is staying true to God's word and the music is Christ honoring and not man honoring. I leave every service feeling refreshed in the spirit. I love my church family and my pastor!

I'm a member. Everything is loving and caring yet solidly conservative and full of the unashamed truth. The whole church and leadership are one unified team with the goal of serving Christ. I've lived in different parts of the country and Temple is one of the best you will find.

Great church!!! Students of the adjacent Crown College of the Bible attend services here. I'm eager to begin there this fall and become a member of this church family!!

I really enjoyed be back I was raise up in this church every since I was 3 year old and I am 36 yrs old now

Wonderful church! Pastor Sexton has been so very faithful for decades! Thankful for his Godly leadership and faithfulness of the people of Temple Baptist Church. This is a place that will help you in many areas of live! Highly recommend a visit!

Truth of Jesus Christ s word is preached, taught, and lived out in the lives of God s people through this assembly. Wonderful outreach ministries available to middle school through adult ages. Gospel centered Church.

I love this church! It's large, and took some time to feel comfortable because I came frim a smaller church, but it did NOT take long to feel God's presence, and know that this church and Pastor, are God-honoring! They just want God's will, and people saved!

Large church that preaches the Bible. The skirts and suits can come across as legalistic, but they are passionate about the gospel. This church is a blessing.

first and foremost i am a member of Temple Baptist Church and have been for decades. this is a very dynamic church that teaches the Word of God with ministries all over the world. It is not there to be an entertainment center for the easily distracted or to sugar coat reality or make lite of Sinful behavior to make you feel. It is there to feed the Soul with the Word of God and provide a means of Salvation ( teaching and instruction) through the Life Death, Burial and Resurrection of Jesus Christ and not by works or being a "good" person. It is a Fellowship of Believers for all and provides an extended family to those who ask . My family have always been welcomed and felt loved here and Pastor Sexton is genuine with is teachings and not timid to discuss Bible subjects that other pastors might avoid.

Many of the negative comments that are posted here seem to be motivated by a misunderstanding of what a Bible believing Church is supposed to represent and very out of character from my experience. No one is perfect (least of all me) and i feel loved in this Church .

Temple Baptist is an awesome church with a friendly environment for you and your family!!

There is truly a godly atmosphere here! The music was uplifting and worshipful. The people are kind and welcoming and the pastor is very personable. This is a fairly large church but I was impressed that the pastor stopped the service at one point to take time for us to pray for a prayer request that had been handed to him. He definitely seems to care personally for the congregation.

I ve traveled abroad to several countries, and have been a member of several churches because of those travelings; I can honestly say that this church is amazing.

I ve was a member of this church for 8 years, and I only think very highly of it. The pastor, Dr Sexton, has followed God sincerely, and this place has vision from God. The church is large, but it is filled with wonderful people and genuine.

God has his hand on Temple Baptist, and I look forward to seeing and hearing what God is going to do with its future.

This is a far excellent church at which the grace and the Spirit of God are alive.

I had a really bad experience with Temple Baptist and would caution people to be VERY wary of the people there. The double standard prevails there, and this is just for starters. They look down on people with histories of drug/alcohol problems and mental health issues and have one standard for men and another for women. They are mainly into numbers and MORE numbers, people are crammed into those pews like sardines in a can....another thing is they want 10% of your assets, that's another reason for the numbers game. I also found the people at this church not only judgemental, but very snobbish and unfriendly. I attended this church for approx 6 months and not one time did I ever meet minister Sexton or his wife. Temple Baptist offers a scribes/Pharissee type of faith and do not show the love of God in any way that I can ascertain . I am so thankful I left there and found a friendly, compassionate church whose people with their love and care for me....showed me God and led me to HIM! Thank the Lord!

the only thing I can say is out of the seven years I was there as a student, is I got saved by a caring pastor. Many good men and women of faith go there. But I know now, I would be judged, being in a Christian metal band, they would really be disappointed. So yes, they are strict in their convictions.

Our daughter goes to Crown College of the Bible; a ministry of Temple Baptist, and when we visit her, we love to visit Temple Baptist Church. We know we can always count on good standards, scriptural music, and sound Bible teaching and preaching.

Wonderful atmosphere, beautiful music... It is amazing to see God's work in this place. Most importantly, God's Word is unashamedly proclaimed in the preaching and teaching. Praise the Lord!

There's not a better church in the world. Everything I am today is because of this place. I love Temple Baptist Church.

Pastor stood over my dead grandmother and told people to vote for bush. Baptized my autistic child with out my consent. So money grubbing it makes me sick! Horrible place on so many, many levels!

We were blessed with the opportunity to visit Temple Baptist Church last Sunday as our son will be attending Crown College this year. It was wonderful to worship God with the people of Temple Baptist and we re looking forward to our next visit as the Lord leads us back to Tennessee. May God continue to bless pastor Sexton and all the people there for His honor and glory. Amen.

The beautiful Hymn singing from this church has been a blessing to me it is so meaningful and uplifting ,I wish I had this hymn book I would sing along , I am at the other side of the world ,I just want to let you know what your services mean to me in the midst of this covid 19 virus God Bless you all and keep on singing.
